Edited by: Julius Rigel on 20/09/2008 01:11:30 FAQ:
Can I place multiple bets on multiple contestants? Yes! Make sure you send each bet separately and put the correct reason on each ISK transfer.
What exactly will I get in return if I bet on the winning racer? You will get the sum of all the wagers placed on that race, minus a small broker's fee. If there are multiple winning bettors, I will split the pot according to each individual's wagers, that means you will get a certain return per million ISK you place on the winning racer.
WAGERING Betting ISK on the racers is allowed and encouraged! I will broker the wagering myself. So you can send your bets to Julius Rigel, in sums of whole millions (1 million, 2 million and so on) with the reason text "BET - <racer>" where <racer> is the name of the racer you wish to place that bet on.
ADVERTISING There is advertising space for rent at the race track, please contact me if you are interested in purchasing some!
JOB OPPORTUNITIES There are many job opportunities within the racing business, please contact me if you would like to find out more!

Edited by: Laxyr on 21/09/2008 21:20:56 Hiya Julius. I'd like to give you some feedback.. or say an idea. If you want the people to bet on one of the pilots you need to give them more information about the Ships they're flying.
I was thinking about a brief "look" at the ship, it's fitting and maybe previous achievements of it's pilot. Revealing fitting specifications could be optional, for persons who want to keep secrets, (I know from ShadowDraquon that he uses Minmatarrian booze to fuel his MWD) but everyone can scan your ships makeup.
The point is that not every spectator brings a shipscanner and a short introduction of the pilots by the commentator would look quite "professional" =)

Thanks man, feedback is always appreciated.
Let me give you a brief (I'm lying, it's going to be horribly meticulously detailed) update on the situation regarding this.
First of all, let me define something, what you are essentially describing is what we in the business call odds. Odds are a collection of statistics (winning / losing numbers, ships and fittings, etc.) squished together into one convenient fraction for each racer, giving you an idea of the probability of that racer winning.
While odds are fun and exciting and all that, it takes a lot of resources to actually derive the odds of each racer, even just using a few statistics. Even gathering these statistics take a lot of work, and no thanks to the ship scanner, which doesn't offer an absolute readout of the fittings of a ship.
Now, between setting up the tracks, hiring and training marshals, shifting money around for prizes, entry fees, advertising, promoting the event and a plethora of other duties outside of my RL obligations, I'm not left with a lot of time to collect all the statistics. But fear not! I'm actively looking for someone who is willing to put in some time on a regular basis to help me with the races and lighten my load a bit, so that we can expand our business and put in motion concepts like racer statistics and odds.
tl:dr The essence of this horribly long post: I'm working on trying to implement this, but I need more people to help me out (for wages, naturally!) with everything so that I will have time to work on this.
If you know anyone interested in helping me manage the races, please don't hesitate to tell me! - Frigate racing is fast and fun! Julius Rigel, NPC-PC equal rights activist! |

Just a quick reminder - It's still newcomers week! It's still free for first-timers to race!
Oh and; If you think you MIGHT want to race, but you are unsure if you can make it, I would prefer if you sign up in good time, instead of waiting until the last minute. I generally judge the number of participants approx 48 hours before the race, meaning if nobody has signed up, I will postpone the race by then.
Bottom line, we can always postpone a race if not enough people show up on the day, but we can't un-postpone a race.
That is all, have a nice day!

Well, not that I'd have much chances, but at least I could have used the newbie week thing
When could the next one be?
