Originally by: Dirk Magnum It's a fine solution when viewed in isolation, but it's also a slippery slope towards other remote item delivery services that aren't based around player couriers. Remote item delivery shrinks New Eden even more, and should not be added to the game IMHO.
The Interbus solution will solve more problems than it creates as long as they keep the deliveries within the region. Short-distance couriers will almost die out (in Hi-Sec, at least) but extraregional couriers should still be safe.
Also, CCP has taken steps in the past to automate (or eliminate) player-driven activities. Warp To Zero killed the Insta-market. Contraband on the open market killed the back-alley drug deals in EvE. The Need for Speed Initiative killed off cans as an advertising tool. It's more likely than not than remote item delivery services will be added to the game.
EDIT: Major malfunction on my part. Assumed Dirk Magnum was referring to something he wasn't. My apologies. |

good god...you'll do anything to kiss the ass of CCP to ensure your job is there for u when u finish school...YES we ALL have to go to jita at some point, you tool.
1 slap for being a nubcake
Amarr, Rens, Oursuleart (or w/e the spelling is) sell the exact same stuff. Mabey not as overpriced, mabey not that many units. But all is there.
The stuff that aint there aint in jita either. Such as supercaps, some T2 rigs and various special ships or equipment.
Nerfing jita to have a cap is good, although the cap it too high, and not capable of being checked real-time.
If jita is filled up to 800 (which is semi-playable) your screwed and Rens/Amarr/Oursuleart is your next stop. Or you sit, wait and complain on the forums till someone jumps out of Jita, like your doing now. -- Real men corpse tank Void Forums The Chaotic Order Forums |

If CCP makes it possible to have more players in Jita then there will be more players till it lags again. Noone is forcing us to go there. It is just not true if you say you have to go there. Trade somewhere else like Oursulaert. Do not accept missions that are in Jita or get another agent.
CCP should just not do anything about it and maybe its best solution is that they official say that they wont, so people stop whining then (maybe ) .
Did i allready say ? DonŠt go to Jita !

IMO remote item delivery should be available anywhere within a region.
Should be sufficiently expensive that couriers are still a profession.
Like for example 100k per item.
Apply that to a module it's not much.
Apply that to trit, or ice, or any other bulk commodity, it's prohibitively expensive.
Nobody is gonna courier your 1 module from Jita to 10 jumps away for 100k or even possibly 500k.
The few times I've tried creating courier contracts nobody took it, and I was offering millions for 1 hauler load in highsec. After 5 days I just gave up and hauled it myself.
It's just pointless.

After over a year of playing, I still haven't been there.
I opened my map and filtered by systems I've visited, and Jita was NOT highlighted.
Yet somehow I am able to survive.

Yes sir, Jita is the only place where you can get everything you need. No such thing as a market hub that's not Jita. No sir, you won't find a market hub in all of EVE, not even in Rens, Amarr, or Ours. Have to go to Jita. Always have to go to Jita.

There is one fatal flaw to implimenting the interbus. It makes enemy logistics runs nearly 100% unstoppable. Buy your stuff in Jita and have it npc delivered to a low sec station. Load up that jump drive ship with the goodies undock and cyno out to your 0.0 warfront and resupply the troops. Yeah no thank you please.

Why don't people start getting on CCP's A$$ to, oh I don't know, update their server hardware? I mean, 200 000 active accounts, they make the money to do this. This is what they should be doing, not putting artificial constraints on game playing

Inherantly false statement. While I have gone to jita the number of times I've been there can still be counted without resorting to using my toes, half of those times I didn't have to go there because I could have gotten the same thing for almost the same price in a closer less populated trade hub. Unless you are shopping for moon materials, or faction contracts Jita really is not always the best place to go. Even in those cases Jita might not be the best location just the place people lemming to.
Though I'm sure you are not interested in the fact that the same stuff is for sale for pretty much the same price within 5-10 jumps, and just want to whine about Jita. You do it to yourself, also in after ignorant CCP suck whiners.

Whether or not we *all* have to go there or just many of us is irrelevant. The fact that there are a whole bunch of players who've never been there is beside the point. Fact: Jita is a hub.
Solution:
1. Allow people from directly neighboring systems (Niyabainen, Perimeter, New Caldari, etc.) to buy items from Jita and get them shipped to them, 2. remove agents from Jita, 3. do not allow agent missions to take place in Jita.
Problem (most likely) solved. PvP-curious. |

Edited by: Ikaa LoveYums on 22/09/2008 20:15:26 You know, what really gets on my nerves is when someone gets on and posts a very legitimate issue and tries either to get a resolution to the issue or an alternative and all the 12yr old kiddies come out flaming away (easy to tell when school is out).
Anyway, with regards to the Jita issue, yes, it can be terrible at times but there are several ways to resolve the issue:
- Is it possible implement some kind of load balancing on the back end? Say for example when the node hosting Jita starts hitting a certain threshold the cluster will start using resources from nodes with less active or even empty (non used) systems.
- Move to another trade hub (as stated there are a few of them out there).
- Manufacturers could spread their goods to stations along the most commonly traveled routes, that way the system population is more spread out.
- Make new (smaller) trade hubs, there's lots of stations out there.
Even tho these solutions/alternatives make complete sense I'm sure that the kiddies will flame for some stupid reason
(and to agree with previous posters, no, you don't have to go to Jita to get what you need)

If a corp creates a contract for another, doesn't that circumvent ganking their logistics?
IMO, interbus would alleviate the stress on these major hubs. C'mon CCP, you said you'd bring it... so BRING IT.

The problem is not that we all have to go there.
its that we all WANT to go there. If people realized that there are perfectly good trade hubs less than 13 jumps from Jita, we wouldn't have these problems. There are 3 major trade hubs in EVE, and they're in everyone's space (except Minmatar. Sorry folks!). Instead of going to Jita for very little reason, why not go to some other trade hub? they're going to be less than 20 jumps away (thats if you avoid low-sec) and just as good as Jita, if maybe 100,000 Isk more expensive. ZOMG!

Interesting point. I'll admit beforehand that I don't know of all the ways to ship supplies into/out of No-Sec, but I can't see how this would change anything. From my viewpoint, enemy logistic runs are pretty much unstoppable right now. Don't Jump Freighters pretty much do the same thing? |
