My alt is training this to level 5
Feels like I've been training this forever & getting nothing for the effort but I guess cap ships would manoeuver like slugs without it-oh they do anyway (so i'm told)

4 is as good as you need really - unless you are going to be spending all your time in a MS.

Sadly it is a cap ship requirement so 5 it has to be.

From what I know the Bonus is also build in, on all real Capital ships, since others already wrote that it is a pre-requirement to have it on Level 5.

Related question, as I know of some pre-requisite bonusses that are already built-in in the ship:
Does the Advanced Spaceship Command skill actually increase agility of capital ships, e.g., Carriers, with respect to their base stats? EFT does say yes, but who knows if the EFT creator knows if that's right? :) |

Who cares? You have to learn it to 5 long before tou'll be able to bard any capship. |

I care because I like to know if the agility values given by EFT, for example, are correct. |

I would suspect that it does nothing to the agility of a capital ship at least not in a way that you can see or measure. The logic is that since it is a requirement of capital ships at level 5 there is nothing to enhance with this skill i.e. you cant train to any higher level so you cant actually see what it does.
I think you will notice the difference with freighters as this skill is only required at level 1 so any thing above this should be noticeable.

To verify that, you will need to hop on the test server and see how agile your Capital ship is.
After you have a large enough sample of align times, pod yourself repeatedly without updating your clone until you lose Advanced Spaceship Command V, then test to see if that has any effect on your capital ship alignment times.

Unfortunatly you need Adv SC V to even board a carrier or dread, so that's a no can do... |

No you don't.
You need Capital Ships, not Advanced Spaceship Command. While you need Advanced Spaceship Command to train Capital Ships, if you lose it you can still fly ships that require Capital Ships. |

First, you would have to loose BS5. |

True and any other rank 6 or higher skills that you have trained to 5. Then a random selection of your level 5 rank 5 skills until you final lose ASC5. That is why I said you would need to pod yourself repeatedly.
None of the requirements for flying a Dread or Carrier prevent you from losing ASC5. Titans on the other hand require you to have ASC5 or require a GM to give you Capital Ships 5. |

Fenrir, Inertia Modifier sitting in it: 0.0306
Fenrir, Base Inertia Modifier: 0.05 * 0.8 = 0.04 (Evasive Maneauvering 4) * 0.85 = 0.034 (Advanced Spaceship Command 3) * 0.9 = 0.0306 (Spaceship Command 5)
So, Spaceship Command applies to freighters, although it is only a dependancy, not a direct requirement. I'm sure if a Carrier/Dreadnought pilot does the math, he'll find the same is true for them (with Spaceship Command and Advanced Spaceship Command). |

Primary skill required: Advanced Spaceship Command I
Secondary skill required: Minmatar Freighter I
If your EVE client lists 'Spaceship Command' as a tertiary requirement, I'd reinstall now. |

I thought you were writing about ASC not SC. After all SC gives bonus to all ships and there is no controversy like with ASC. You konw "Grants a 5% Bonus per skill level to the agility of ships requiring Advanced Spaceship Command."

Guinea-Pig corpmate in his Thanatos, Inertia Modifier: 0.02025
Thanatos Base Inertia: 0.05 Evasive Maneauvering 5: * 0.75 = 0.0375 Capital Ships 4: * 0.8 = 0.03 Advanced Spaceship Command 5: * 0.75 = 0.0225 Spaceship Command 5: * 0.90 = 0.02025
I rest my case. |
