When is CCP going to fix this? At the moment you can copy 5 bm at a time, and still it's a very laggy process. Create a new way to copy a lot (1000+) of bookmarks fast and safely. It's getting pretty silly to copy and paste all those bookmarks we have to other characters in batches of 5...

I think that the problem is that each BM is an object in the database, and there for making new BMs requires several calls to the database which is not a good thing overall.
The easiest way to make BMs easy to copy would be to have them stored locally, outside of the database, but that would be horribly exploitable so its not going to happen.

That is not quite true. What is called is bookmarkID only, all bookmarks are loaded into client once you log in. The issue is that once you start copying, you have to change bookmark entry into an item. This can cause unwanted server load hence the limit.

Nope, BM's are stored on the server. WTZ was made to combat travel BM's, as they created to much lag on the server every time you jumped. Because every BM was checked if it related to the new system you entered. Also, some people used copying a lot of BM's to lag out combat and give them an advantage, hence the limit of 5 at a time.

The limit was put there on purpose and its good it stays this way.

Well, I said that bookmarks are LOADED into client, that means they are stored on server(they have to be loaded from somewhere). Also I said that only bookmarkID is called, that means once you activate bookmark, ID is sent and server looks up the database for entry. You can warp as much as you want, bookmarks are already on client and need no check - no server querry.
Warp-to-zero was introduced because there was simply too many bookmarks copied too often. It is the copy process that cause serve load. |

No mate, it's not good. What would be good is to have no limit and no lag during the copying process. Don't tell me you've never wanted to copy 100+ bookmarks to another character without going through the tedious process of copying them in batches of 5...
So CCP, what are you going to do?

I would think they are gonna carry on with all the things that are more important then BMs, and you will just have to carry on copying then 5 at a time.

The current behaviour is by design. If you want to discuss a change to the design, please use the "Features & Ideas discussion" forum.

Yes. And then we can start "snipespots" "observatio spots" business. Everyone will be able to copy so called "BM sets" for every system - like 5000 BMs per region. Thios will be awesome !!
O wait... i think they put this limit to STOP above. Thus no - i dont want to BM change back. As for having BMs on both chars - i just create em when needed.

I think need a more custom distance for warp jump. Like a safespot, observerspot, near star objects.
- Maybe need formula for calculate time for jump.
If objects close - fast warp.
If objects far or very far, like a far safe spot (100 and more AU) --------- long calculate warp.
I am assured if Players can make custom warp, they not need needed for full packs of bookmark for each starsystem, constelation, region ....
Its good for Players and Server.

I'm pretty sure since WTZ, I haven't even HAD 100 BM's on most my characters. And seriously, how often do you ahve to do that, and if so, you're talking about 20 drag and drops. Trust me, this is considerably better than it was before, where you would have people who's whole task for an entire day was copying sets of BM's for 0.0 pipes and such.

Try to handle your ADD and not miss the point - a dedicated individual can copy "bm sets" for every system/constellation/region. The limit to 5 bm copies was forced because, for some reason, bookmark copying creates lag and possibly crashes your EvE client. Trying to limit lag by forcing players to copy in batches of 5 is not a "design" decision, it's a half measure to an open issue that still needs to be addressed.
It's sad to see this topic moved to "Features and Ideas" tbqh because I have no idea on how to fix this rather than state the obvious - bm copying generates lag and limiting it to batches of 5 hasn't solved the problem. If you claim it has, you're just sinking your head in the sand...

Perhaps instead of changing ways to copy BMs, there should be more ways to use them.
For example, why don't we have BMs the entire corp/alliance can use? I'm sure that is a major reason for copying bookmarks. |

Yeah - alliance/corp wide bookmarks FTW!
The process involves currently:
- copying my bookmarks to a container in corp hangar in batches of 5 - every other corp member needs to pull all bookmarks into his people and places (no copying allowed/possible) - then copy the bookmarks back to the container in corp hangar
The lag involved in this process is terrible, even opening the stupid container seems to take ages sometimes...
If corp/allicance wide bookmarks are not possible for reasons beyond my understanding, why can't we at least eve-mail the bookmarks to our buddies in corp/alliance and they copy them from the mail to their interface?
