Hi guys. Can you give me a hand building an Amarrian control tower deathstar with a mining-array? Please don't tell me to go caldari/minmatar, I'm already set on amarr for the silo bonus as well as the local ice belts. Also, I plan to make this out of just regular tech items, nothing faction. It should see some action here and there, but im definately not expecting more than a couple dreadnaughts to come and try to take me out. Here's what I got so far, please play critic for me =P
1x Moon Harvesting Array 1x General Silo
2x Stasis Webbifier 2x Warp Disruption 8x ECM Jammers (2 of each type) 2x Large Energy Neuts
1x Ballistic Hardener 1x Thermic Hardener 1x EM Hardener
4x Large Beam Lasers 6x Medium Beam Lasers
And I could always offline the Silo/Mining Array for a couple of sensor dampeners if needed. What do you guys think? What kind of force could I hold off with this setup? And is it right of me to be using Beam lasers over Pulse?

Edited by: Brock Nelson on 27/09/2008 19:35:04 I was going to suggest white noise generator to make logistic ship fitted with repairers cry. But I'm not as I'm no expert with POS

Unless you expect the enemy to hit you from 200km away (which they are not), use large pulses, not beams.

Ok so I'll use Pulse lasers instead of beam. With Multifrequency they should have about a 100km optimal, that should be good right?!
Question number 2. What kind of force do you figure this POS could fend off?

Location (high or low sec) could affect what kind of setup you want to use, if it's highsec I would suggest a shredder POS. IMO large weapon really shines VS caps, small and medium array of weaponry will be more effective against a sub capital fleet.
I would also suggest to keep you focus on lasers for an amarr tower but would toss a few launchers/arty/rail to vary your damage type. With only lasers you can tank for specific damage type and actually help the attacker by not having them guess what tank to bring.

If your goal is to fend off 20 battleships, load it up with shield hardeners. Unless you have done something to REALLY make them hate you, no one will want to deal with a large heavily hardened tower with those numbers... ç¦ |

If you use any faction get a True Sansha tower. And Im asuming your fueling Large tower, So if its a deathstar then really harden it down, 2-3 of each hardner are really needed. Use small guns so you can scrap the support that are focused on your guns and exterior arms. Ecm is good but wont work for the MOM that gets dropped on you, so grap some damps aswell.
A well defended POS can take out BS fleets with ease, IMO well in access of 20 BS's. Remember that for every 5 weapons you have you need a pilot with starbase defense 5. the ability to manually focus fire your weapons on that POS makes a dynamic differnce in taking out a fleet of BS's with cap support. Now tactics for the pilots is important, you need to instantly focus your large guns on the logistics caps. After the support caps are gone you need to focus on the BS and support fleet.

You must have missed the moon mining part.

They will want to snipe the neuts before coming close range, so keeping some beams to make the snipers job more interesting is in order... -- I'm done whining about AFs, it looks like they are making them right \o/ |
