Is the player log-on throttle controllable? Surely it can allow more connection just a little faster than making over 1000 log-on attempts wait the silly amount of time it is taking ?!?!

There is an issue with a loadbalancing machine. It is being looked into, restarting the client may help.

i lost 400 places in the queue following their advice

Ok,. read again what you typed. What you're saying is, if you made a product for your boss and every single time you did that it doesn't work at the first go, what do you think your boss will do with you. I doubt you'll get a raise.
CCP can't do a damn thing right at the first go and we, the customers, can't do a thing about it. No refunds, no nothing. Who's the idiot? Not CCP.....

So what you're saying is that when you work at a job, you'd better not make any mistakes...even with the most technical and temperamental of projects, or else you should kiss any chances of a raise goodbye.
To err is human. Even if CCP developed a perfect patch, there would likely be unforseen issues upon first implementation, as we are seeing here today. I'm certainly frustrated that I can't log in, but I'll reserve my harsh comments until after the patch has been out for more than a couple hours.

Mmmmmm... we have already 4 places where the queues are being reported. Even, old ones, dated before the new patch. Should I do the repay thing at the end of October for my third account......?

Somehow managed to get patched to 64130 (Premium), nice autopatching thar :/
Could a patch be generated for the early patchers, to fix this?

No problems so far with the classic client.
I even logged in, docked/undocked, jumped through a couple of gates, launched and recovered my drones, and tried the starmap a couple of times in space to see what it would do to my Selected Item window now, and all my windows actually behaved themselves. 
If this keeps up I may have to buy CCP a round of beers.

yeah i have this since empyerean age - even filed a bug report
then they asked me to start the log server and send them logs... but the bug didn't happen with logserver on so i just gave up and turned wallet flahing off for good ....

I just watched my position in queue bounce from #730 to #923 !!
Now, if only more people can follow CCPs advice and relog, I'll move faster up the line.
