even before the sec change i would start npc'ing for about 3 days... get bored... then drop it back down in 5 hours of good times in amamake.
I'm pretty sure i'm just going to not bother anymore.

Aye, having recently returned from outlaw status again I'd love to have been able to bribe concord instead of ratting, but 250 is not anywhere near enough, should cost upwards of a billion isk, possible quite a few billions. Nice isk sink too.

Thats a waste of isk. Every time I try and get it up (the sec status ofc), the process gets halted in the middle and it goes down again. -8, (weeks of work and beer) -3, (1 night out)-9.
Harsh world out there.

A guy was talking about this in a convo last night and I was thinking about it.
What might work instead of the bribe is restitution to the gankie and have them be given the option to relieve the ganker of the sec status hit or a portion of it. Something along those lines.

Last time I tried, and I mean I really friggan tried, to raise my sec status, I lasted 6 hours over 2 days and just said "**** it, you can keep your ****in sec status" and made an alt to do all the empire crap, at the time I was loathe to make an alt as I hated the idea of needed two characters just to have fun on one.
It'd be handy if you could bribe concord, kind of cool too, but I would say more like 500 mil per point. If you really want to raise the sec status out of the red, you gotta pay for it, either with time or cold hard isk.

This is how it goes for me:
I go ratting to raise sec status. Some incompetent moron comes in system to rat or mine. I scan them down. Next thing you know, I've a GCC and my sec status has went down again.

In ye olden days of EVE, bribing Concord was allowed.
However, raising security status like this was perhaps a little too easy which is why I believe it was removed.
Am checking that one out.

This would actually be a good idea imo... so long as it's expensive, but not so expensive that only the richest of the rich could afford it. Maybe not so much as a bribe, but as a 'bail' of sorts? Something like 2-5m per -0.1 sec status you want to restore?

I'm outlaw myself, and tend to agree. Try shifting the decimal place a few points and making it 25bil and you'd be closer.
You commit the crime, you serve the time. There is no "fair" in Eve, only consequence.

Edited by: Tobias Sjodin on 01/10/2008 21:33:40 How about a progressive scale, after all:
-2.0 and above is considered "smalltime" since you are still allowed to enter the highest security areas of space. How about something like this:
-1.0 to 0.0 = 2 million ISK -2.0 to -0.0 = 2,5 million ISK. -3.0 to -2.0 = 20 million ISK -4.0 to -2.0 = 25 million ISK -5.0 to -3.0 = 200 million ISK -6.0 to -3.0 = 250 million ISK -7.0 to -4.0 = 2 billion ISK -8.0 to -4.0 = 2,5 billion ISK -9.0 to -5.0 = 20 billion ISK -10 to -5.0 = 25 billion ISK
And then only allow one of these bribes every 24 hours to prevent instant gratification.

With fast talk IV it will take you about 300-330 mission battleships to get your sec status from -10 to just -2. Because you cannot jump systems like with 0.0 your timer will be 10 min. So this is a minimum of 3000 minutes or 50 hours you have to spend ratting to go from -10 to -2. You guys saying you can get there in a 2-7 days running missions, jeez how much time do you spend on EVE???
Of course you can go to 0.0 to decrease the timer but you either have to ninja it and spend time dodging the locals or you have to join a 0.0 alliance for a week which would make you look like a corp hopper to future employers.
Either way paying up a bil looks way more lucrative than either option ... i hate NPCing with a passion too :(

This seems reasonable however if I'm looking at it correctly highly exploitable
if you kill a good number of ships in a night i honestly cant see you losing much more then 3 points of sec stats (no podding) which means they can bribe back to -2.0 and then later on bribe again back to 0.0 (22.5 million) the next night they can just cool down on the ganking and then the night after back where you started
think perhaps only allowing you to bribe after -5.0 sec stats would be a better idea and only allow it to go from there (and above) to -3.0
if you wanted it so at some point you could return to 0.0 using a bribe you could have it as the sec stats get lower the sec it increases too gets progressively higher too eventually reaching 0.0
or create a multiplier between current sec status and what you want it raising too with a quite large amount of isk getting added on and could even introduce a skill to help with that cost
my 2 cents
EDIT: Personally i like the idea of just bribing to get past faction police for x amount of time / x amount of systems but still be flashy red so people can shoot them anyone with brains can get around the fact people can still pew pew them insta undocks etc.

Actually, that sounds like a great idea. Maybe 200mill for 24hours though
As someone (sadly) ratting sec status back up, I must admit that the thought has crossed my mind.
