I'd like to learn more about living in null sec. Is there a FAQ explaining how it differs from 0.1-1.0 and what a character moving there should know about points of entry, politics, NPC vs player-controled sectors etc? |

Just go in a cheap ship and see for yourself.
All you really need to know going in is that it is zero security, and you will die. |

NPC run stations you can dock at.
You may not be ableto dock at player run stations. If you do negotiate entry you may need to pay an automatic docking fee so read all pop-ups carefully.
Choke points into to 0.0 are often camped but not all the time and not always by people who kill on sight. Most people can be reasoned with, bribed or just avoided. Fast ships with cloaking devices can generally get you through most things but not all.
There are no rules in 0.0, anything goes.
The big difference to low sec is the use of bubbles. These stop you warping away from a gate, they can stop you short of a gate and can, if lined up, pullyou up to 100km off a gate. Learn to wait out your timer and run bak to a gate if the bubble camp is too big to escape. Learn to warp to planets and belts in a system to scan ahead and check the gate.
Politics are player driven and fluid. Your best bet is to get out there and enjoy. You will lose some ships, don't give up. Learn from each loss and you will be fine.
I just spent the last 2 years living in 0.0, it can be a lot of fun.

Can I stay in empire, make jump clone there, travel to 0.0 and live there, while occasionaly jumping back in another clone in empire? Are there medical facilities in NPC stations?

Yes fcydo that is possible, and a lot of people do that.
To be honest I'm not sure about medical facilities in NPC stations, as I've never really used them. I think they do though, because alot of 0.0 alliances are based out of NPC stations and I can imagine them wanting to have medical facilities.
If you're in a 0.0 alliance your alliances stations should have medical facilities. -------- Billy Jean is not my lover |

If you have made the clones (in empire or elsewhere) you don't need medical facilities in 0.0. You simply dock at a station and clone jump, you can clone jump from ANY station.
Do not, however, under any circumstances, shift your medical clone to a low sec or 0.0 station without medical facilities to update your clone.

A related question to all this then, Is it possible to life in 0.0, while not being part of a corp/aliance out therE?

Sure, but they WILL kill you if they see you, unless they are NRDS (not red dont shoot), but only 1% of the alliances are.

yes, but it's a very tenuous existence.
Why would you not want to join a corp?

Medical facilities are not necessary as you can jump back to empire to upgrade your clone. Best advise is dont undock, under any circumstances, without an updated clone

We're modified NRDS, which means NPC corporations and militia dies too. Only real corporations has any business in 0.0.

if you get podded in 0.0 your jumpclone respawns in your highsec medical station. so it's better to look for a medical service in 0.0 to move your afterlife clone to it.

Thank you for providing helpful information about medical facilities.
As far as I see it -- moving to 0.0 is not something new players would do (well, in case like mine -- when you are in best-childhood-friends corporation and won't join any 0.0 dedicated corp). You need to have sufficient standings to make jump clone and money savings in case something goes wrong. Hence you must grind for standings and isk first.
I'm just 4.5M SP characted (gallente intaki) with all-in-one skills (except gunnery and missiles -- using drones for battle) with two passive research alts on solo account.
What are best things to take with? I will try to fly out in frigate/assault ship with WarpCoreStabilizers and about 150m3 cargo. Should I take ammo/drone blueprints or something that may become very helpful?
Are there blueprints in NPC stations?

first: stabs are useless in your frig in 00. the most dangerous things are bubbles and stabs don't help you in bubbles.
second: i have 5 mill sp and began missions in 00 a week ago. the first i have done was flying in a fast frig with cloaking device through the systems. looking for stations for my clone and how it all works over there.
just try it out and look what you wanna do and what you need. observate fleet ops and keep in mind when they camp your gate to highsec. you'll see which corps are operating at which time. use a time window when the gate is not camped to haul your stuff (in a frig) to your npc station.
don't forget to check the market in your 00 region. you'll see there is.... not that much stuff you can buy
(this is a post of a 1 week experienced char in 00 - don't beat me if i told crap )

1) I beg to differ on that remark.
2) Not all people who join eve are looking for a social layer to go with the gameplay layer. Not saying player corps are bad, exactly the opposite tbh, but some people just don't want/need to mingle so to speak.

Eve is a community based game, not playing with others misses most of the fun parts out. You might as well just play X3.

Playing with others does not require the close knit social layer you get from player corps. I chat in local and often help people out on missions or give advice or any number of other of social interactions as I play. I simply prefer to be my own gang/corp and not have to worry about others sensitivies or schedules as I exlore Eve. I did that for decades in real life as a manager and now just want to Han Solo it for a while if you get my gist. Now when the rest of my alts get into those carriers early next year I might start thinking about joining a player corp simply to have a use for them.

No, because in X3 the environment is hand designed by the designers, the people shooting at me are NPCs, and the market (assuming X3 has a market?) is also just AI.
EVE is about the player built and controlled world, and the PvP nature of almost every mechanic. Actually socialising with or working together with other people is not necessary to enjoy this. -

Actually we've worked hard to create a vibrant market in Providence. Here all pilots are welcome as long as they respect others and don't pirate. Yes we are that 1% mentioned earlier

Yea, you COULD live in 0.0 Providence space. Careful though, shooting the locals is not a good idea. ;) But there is a good market in Providence space. /respect

Depends on the system, but mostly the dangers in 0.0 can be avoided (in most cases). If you fly smart you won't have any excess trouble.
Just keep an eye on intel-channel and local. As a newbie in 0.0 you should definetly dock at any sight of red-players. In time you will learn to avoid/anticipate the actions of hostile players. Aka, you will know when to dock and when to just keep on eye out.

All I know is, the only difference in high-sec and null-sec is that you have to be more vigilant and aware of your surroundings, and that in most cases null-sec is pretty unpopulated depending on where you go.
I just spent today in null-sec and I was just fine. Once you can kill those roid pirates solo, you're ready for Null-Sec. :] __________________ "People die when they are killed."

Many 'lives' ago, when I was in Aliances that were at war with half of EVE, I would feel a sense of relief to get back into 0.0. The 'rules' of survival are much simpler and there are fewer threats. You just have to stay alert. A good Cloak dosen't hurt. ---------------------------------------------------

I used to live about half-time at the 5ZXX-K NPC station when I was in a small unaligned corp, ratting and running missions for Mordu. It worked fine -- just had to be careful of some of the locals who thought they owned Pure Blind.
I haven't tried it lately, though... ratting in a war zone is a bit dodgy.
