Just wondering why it isnt an option for CCP Dev to give BS and BC and maybe even more ships the same form of jump future that Carriers,Dreads and Titan`s have? This way ships/players can move much faster over greater distances in high and low sec space. So far i now this can work lag redussing alot also.
Ofcourse if players prefer they still can use the stargates but seems a good idea to me.
Correct me if im wrong.

cap ship hotdrops are already bad enough; having 300-400 battleships literally pop out of a cyno field would be silly. I mean, imagine the fights you get at the moment with 300 vs 300, then someone "hot drops" 400 more BS or more - it'd crash the node.

How does removing the small number of people travelling through a solar system help reduce lag compared to having hundreds in a mission hub or a fleet battle (where the lag is)?
I'd like a battleship to have a jump drive, but I think it creates balancing issues. it also reminds me of what happened to SWG when they removed ait times at starports and shuttleports. Yes, you got somewhere quicker, but you also lost a huge social element. Removed. Please keep your EVE signature related to your EVE persona and not that of a real life politician. Navigator |

I think you are wrong. Making it easier to travel will make it more likely that many people will travel to a certain 'hotspot', a place where the action is.
The act of travelling does not create lag, lots of people in the same place (server node) will.
Also, it makes the universe smaller. In EVE, there is really nothing to do between highways, so making it easier to connect two points makes it more likely that even more systems are abandoned or 'skipped'

And this has what to do with my point?

They should add jump drive modules to the game. Fitting intensive, requiring basic jump skills to fit. Require any sub-capitol to fit them, including the black ops, but give ships like the blackops an extra slot and a reduction in fitting reqs. When you compare the black ops to a normal battleship both fitted with the jump drive the blackops will be alot better... ח¦ |

I'd say a rig rather than a module. A Jump Drive is designed to be a permanent system. Once you install it, it's very unlikely you'll be tearing it out any time soon.
Basic Jump Drive Array I Jump Range: 2.5ly Fuel Consumption: 1500units per ly Jump Capacitor Need: 95% Drawback: -10% Grid, -10% CPU Fitting: Rig Slot, 350 Calibration. Allows a ship to cyno-jump short distances at high fuel cost.
Advanced Jump Drive Array II Jump Range: 3.5ly Fuel Consumption: 1250units per ly Jump Capacitor Need: 95% Drawback: -15% Grid, -10% CPU Fitting: Rig Slot, 250 Calibration. Allows a ship to cyno-jump longer distances at a moderate fuel cost.
These rigs would be affected by normal jump drive skills, and would require Jump Drive Operation I and IV respectively. The rigs should also be very expensive, on the order of 60 million ISK or more for the tech I version.
The only disadvantage with a rig is that it can be fitted to any ship class, unless CCP has a variable that can be enabled that only lets this be used on BC/BB. שששששששששששששששSigשששששששששששששש The magic behind Minmatar ships is the fact that there is only one type of Minmatar ship. The only variation is when they decide to stop building it. |

rather than module id want to see it as a rig, but that would make blackops kinda, obselete?

backstory problem: these jump drives are huge. t2 frighters get rid of 60% of their cargo room to fit them. BS's loose 4 weapon hardpoints to fit them. you can only compress such things down so far.
gameplay problem: surprise raids, cheap escapes. hvae your corp have a small cyno gen at their POS, POS surrounded by guns. then, whenever you get attacked in low sec, you jump out.
you thought players self destructing was cheap? imagine how ****ed off you will be with jump drives! - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

Here's a slight problem: you'd only ever be able to use the jump drive in lowsec. Reason: 0.0 is already cyno-jammed to hell. It will be even more so if you have more ships capable of jumping.
What caused the spam of cyno jammers was the invention of the black-ops battleships if I'm not mistaken, making more ships capable of jumping will cause people to make sure each and every system in 0.0 is jammed.

You are. It's the preposterously low fitting requirements and cost for such a powerful module that allows people to spam them.

All the important systems are jammed already anyway.

I stand corrected, though my point in that there would be virtually no use for jumping battleships/battlecruisers still stands. Where would they jump to? (apart from hotdropping as a defense force) :)
