is this a good ship to use? i know i want to be able to cloak up to the person. I've been reading up on pirating but havnt seen much about the nemesis being used for it. can anyone point out the downsides and/or upsides that I can have using one for pirating.

I'd have thought it was fairly obvious..
The upsides would be stealth and the ability to oneshot small stuff.
the downsides would be rate of fire and they are made out of paper.

Depends what you want to do. I had a former corp mate sit outside sentry gun range and pop frigs and industrials too stupid not to know that auto-piloting in low sec = bad. --- |

The Nemesis is a nice ship - but wait a little bit, I guess very soon someone will come and tell you that the Raven is the better stealth bomber

the only way to "pirate" in a nemesis is tofind a low sec mining op (lke they still exist) and ransome the jet cans. if they dont pay, pop the cans.
mind you, if you find a low sec mining op it would be muchmore fun to just get good ships and pop them all

Though it's more of a 0.0 tactic, I suppose you could always try camping a station in a busy system and popping blinky/wartarget/FW frigs as they undock.

If you felt very lucky you could even try it in lowsec with non flashy targets - be close to the target (20-30km), have your sensor dampeners (scan res scripts) and cruise launchers primed, align to a planet, uncloak, activate sensor boosters, target (your dampeners and launchers activate), recloak and watch the nice explosion.
If the cloaking fails (locked by something nasty) gtfo! (warp to the planet you were aligned to)
You'll have to wait for your GCC to expire then, don't try to pull that off while you have a GCC or the sentries will turn your shiny toy into a much less shiny wreck
Better practice this with some rats if you don't have several replacement ships available

hopefully he not here, ;) dude miss's the point with bombers totally ;)
these ships arent good for pirating but they do produce what i would call some good "low sec ganks", more for lulz than profit.

Totally agree - it's like buying a roadster. It's not particularly good for the intended purpose of a car (transporting stuff and people) but it's a lot of fun to drive.

if you find a minin op in 0.0, then bombs can be hell of a lot of fun.
lots of ships with their cans close together, decloak, deploy bomb, and head in the opposite direction, and watch the fireworks

Stealth bombers are fun little ships. My prefered tactic is to wait near a gate or station, about 20km from where I expect the enemy to appear. Once they do I activate my passive targeter, decloak, activate a pair of sensor boosters with resolution scripts, fire and immediately recloak. With this tactic just about any frigate pops before realizing anyone even shot at them. Lock time is fast enough with this setup that you can typically get their pod too.
The biggest problem with stealth bombers is the lack of power, they can 1 volley a frigate but that's about it. Destroyers require 2 typically and cruisers require 3-6. Forget about BC's and BS's. To take down bigger stuff you either need a pack of bombers or a bigger ship. That said, 3-4 bombers in a squad can ensure your enemy has a very bad day. Pretty safe too so long as you are well practiced in relcoaking quickly and always stay aligned and at full speed when you decloak to attack.
An alternative method is to use a warp disruptor II (24km range) on it and try to stay out of range of the enemy's weapons. That's incredably risky though and only works on complete noobs who lack mwd skill. I don't recommend it in most situations but I am guilty of using it from time to time. Final way is to stack tageting range scripts in the sensor boosters and out range the enemy, but cruise missiles fly so slow that if they have even a single brain cell they will just warp.

we actually had a stealth bomber as more of a supplement a while ago (my corp)
we were tired of getting a kill on a pvp op, then getting killed afterwards whilst in frigates, so we decided to up to cruiser sized ships
but my corp mate wanted to try out his manticore (frigate sized ship in a cruiser fleet) so we said sure
MOST of the time we hunt flashy reds, or shoot anyone we see in a belt (if we can take him)
anyway, on something like a cruiser op, a stealth bomber would be a nice supplement, because you really cant "pirate" so to speak in a stealth bomber, no point, no web, so unless the target is autopiloting, and has half a brain he should be able to get away before your second (or hell maybe first) salvo hits
the only way i could see something like this working is MAYBE if you had a squadron of stealth bombers (maybe 4, or 5) then you could easily kill anything cruiser sized and below. But again, that is a long shot because most people can get away BEFORE you do any meaningul damage

This, they can sit at 160k, cloak up, best to have 3/4 of them, and have 1 person in something tackely on the gate that can tank sentries + whatever jumps in. Uncloak, loot, repeat.

Edited by: Lex Alandar on 03/10/2008 22:32:22 Lowsec SBs are awesome in my opinion.
Perfect for a gatecamp, use a HIC or fast-locking myrm for tackle, a few stealth bombers 150-180 km off gate (and sentry guns).
Fitting for stealth bombers MUST have:
2x sensor booster with range scripts 2x hydraulic bay thrusters rigs
Missile projection and bombardment to IV is also a must-have.
The only issue is the time it takes the initial volley to impact. After that the missiles just keep pounding the target. 2x stealth bombers = more DPS than a cruise raven. ______________
