i was just going to start playing it again and for some reason it lag like hell...i dont know why since i havent change anything with my computer since i played it last time -.-. i guess i need to wait untill i need to buy a new computer(or try and change the settings for the game...)
...i usaly got a good fleet making money for me and a station or two that make me money...i have even tried to build MIG stations but they usely look so much like crap that i keep to 2 or 3 stations that compilment eachother...that way my haulers only need to go buy one sort of goods to keep it all running

Pretty much no point in playing the earlier X games since each one is just a better version of the last. Everything you can do in X:Btf can be done in X2, which can be done in X3, bla bla.
And they really arn't worth buying for the story. . Just wait for TC to come out and buy that.

Set up a space weed/space fuel complex in Elena's Fortune. Plenty of good silicon roids to fuel your power plants and crystal factories, and pirates coming from the illegal areas come in droves to buy your products. You make an absolute FORTUNE in that system with space weed and space fuel.
Only problem is hostile pirate patrols like to pop in and attack stuff. If you have Xtended installed the pirates sometimes bring larger ships like corvettes and small capital ships. I guess you could go and drop space mines all over the place but the police would probably bust you.

Yeah Spenz, I think I will do that - once I've got some decent ships to patrol the sector. I've got XTM installed and I met my first pirate reaver last night (run away, run away!) I'm still flying the Pirate Buster and while I like to bite off more than I can chew, multiple M3+ make it cry.
I've now found myself in a position where I can't quite decide what to do next. 2 (game) days in, about 8m in the bank, probably about 10m in the factories.
Options - too many of them: - Keep building factories to plug gaps in local supply chains - Start building equipment factories to supply my fleet, build up patrol groups to guard my sectors - Save a bit more and splash out on a pimp M3+ and a TL and just roam about capturing stuff - try to get an LX <3 - Declare war on the Boron for popping an Xenon M that I was engaging - just as the pilot bailed - Start doing some of the XTM plot missions - Argh! --

Yay, I've managed to capture myself a pirate nova. Now stuck 3 25MW shields on it, 8 guns and all the usual software thingamibobs and full upgrades. Trouble is it's really really slow. The only way to escape if things go pear shaped is to use a jump drive. Which is annoying. It was also really expensive to repair after I first captured it, so now I am poor and my two poxy factories aren't giving me enough income.
I think I might try that idea of setting up a space fuel/space weed complex in elena's fortune. Where can you get them from?

Well I dunno where you get them from in the original game, but in XTM you can get it from a pirate shipyard in Farnham's Legend (along with other pirate ships. I ♥ the Galleon).
It takes a lot of money to initially set up, but one it is set up, you get profits galore (heh I sound like a teladi).

Edited by: Blackend Sky on 08/10/2008 19:19:03 Hehehe, good old games the X-Series.Long back in time there was even a multieplayer planned as X-OU.Imagine 300k ppl registrated on the gamemakers boards.Even guilds where created, traders, policeforces, miners and whatnot.I was a member of a pirateclan and the only fighting we did was on the forums LOL,even we had no onlineversion.Anyway the X-OU was not created :( so i found kinda my way to eve Me still play X3 with a big handy joystick, and with no cheats and some good scripts it reminds me of elite.A big plus is the modcoummity and masses of fansites helping each other out. X3 is not that bad for a singleplayer sim...

I played x2 and at the time it was awesome, now I play eve instead
only dissapointment was the endgame, I thought you'd actually needed like a huge fleet cap ships but it was easy enough with one pimped out ship :(

Depends on which race you choose, shooting pirates or Khaak/Xenon will raise your standings and grant you dockingrights after a while If you park your BS or Carrier/TS ship close to a gate you may loose standings, many times other pilots will crash into your ship from behind. You killed them hehehe. Here is a map for all to lazy to use an interceptor to explore: http://www.seizewell.de/x3sectors-eng.jpg have fun

The end mission you mean? the devs were mean they cant just take away something like that!
At least in x2 bigger ships meant you could kill bigger stuff; in x3, an m3 or m3+ can kill anything given hepts and enough time. in x2, you kinda needed a m6 to kill anything bigger. Oh yea, m5s were useless too >.<

Might be the same issue I had with the OTAS shipyard and the Terracorp one in Home of light, where the shipyard and HQ seem to occupy the same space. You should be able to trade with the shipyard using your trading system extension and buy ships that way. Linkage --

While X3 doesn't differ seriosly from X2, there's one point where it is superior - it is graphics side.
When I first started it and it showed me my ship in Amarr...err, Argon Prime, I was just sitting in front of my screen with open mouth and watching all this beauty. ALl this stations, nebulas, planets are just amazing. And in sectors where you are on close orbit to planet, such as Kingdom's End - sometimes you can almost feel all this height.
Wish CCP could make planets look like in X3, and move stations closer to planets.

Ok yeah, lets have this out. Split = Minmatar - Very fast ships, not much tank, ducttape ftw Teladi = Caldari - Monster shields, slow as hell, kinda similar names too :P Boron = Gallente - Green, blobby organic-looking ships, errr Paranid + Argon = Amarr - It breaks down a bit here Paranid ships look more Amarrian, but Argon have the whole 'master-race' thing going on... Originally by: MaxBang sometimes you can almost feel all this height
:) Strange you should say this. I was floating around high above a Paranid trading station last night looking down on the planet and stations. It actually gave me this weird vertigo-type sensation The graphics are spectacular indeed. --

Edited by: Roxanna Kell on 09/10/2008 01:36:17 I quite liked the fleet battle at the end of x3, too bad they didn't wait for me to get my own BS, instead they forced me into the fighter. which was more of a dog fight while avoiding barrage fire.
I was under the impression X3: TC was an expansion pack, u know, u have to own x3. But since it doesn't look like it, its on my list to buy after a new pc.
I played x2 for 2 months and x3 for bit more, didn't like the new menus. the UI wasn't well made. X2 was better cause less complicated but the same pile of s**T.
What i hope is that EGOSOFT stop making x4 x5..etc and give a try to an mmo, or at least multilayer deathmatch sort of game, bit like bf2 in space. I feel they re scared of going online, could be lack of experience amongst them.

They will have to make planets 10 times their actual size. and stop people being able to fly thru them, at least when not warping.

Listening to the playerbase, my ass. How long did it take them to admit they screwed up? Oh wait, they never did...
IF (and that's a pretty big if) predicting performance of the new game on a certain machine can be done without (ab)use of several schools of really really dark magic, I might consider getting a copy.... from the bargain bin :/

the way they code may explain them not stepping into the Multilayer business. omg all those exploits.

Edited by: P''uck on 09/10/2008 10:00:52 I liked how they called the latest patch a "multiplayer patch" some months before release.
All it did was enabling you to upload some sort of arbitrary score and screwing stability.

I seem to have a problem. My dolphin hauler keeps going missing. It's the one that supplies my plankton farm with energy cells in bluish snout.
I originally thought the nearby xenon blew it up and I missed the "one of your ships is under attack" message. But I replaced it with another one and I literally watched it in my property window disappear without any intermediate shield droppage. Mysterious, annoying and expensive.

Personally I would follow it and see what is happening. There might be bad guys killing it so fast it doesn't show up.
