Why wouldn't they have given the harbinger 8 turrets so it could be symmetrical? Because its 7th is so clearly off center because it was DESIGNED to accommodate 8, it really makes me angry that they decided at the last minute to make it lopsided by removing one.
Makes me angry every single day. I wake up and the first thing that enters my mind is that turret sticking out at the front. No balance!

Edited by: Jahktor on 07/10/2008 07:15:07 I totally agree with you. it ****ed me off too. i would have let it slide if there was a slot for a missile launcher but there's not.

It would be different if they bothered to move the location of the hardpoints.
It just seems so unprofessional. They were planning on it having 8 guns, and then at the last minute changed it, and didn't even care that they ruined the balance of the ship in the process.
This makes me angry, but not quite as angry as them not removing 4 of the little 'dark spots' on the paladin. TURRETS CAN NEVER GO THERE WE DONT NEED TO SEE EMPTY TURRET HARDPOINTS ON A SHIP WITH ONLY 4 HARDPOINTS!
Honestly this is the biggest reason to fly caldari, you don't have to worry about messed up turret hardpoints on missile boats.

Same with the Armageddon. It has an extra hardpoint slot that it never uses.

The Armageddon's utility slot is great. Remote repairers, energy transfers, heavy neutralizer to squash any tacklers... The model itself seems to be designed for five pairs of turrets.
Harbinger has indeed a dorsal spot for the missing eight turret. Might have cap problems with it, but the DPS would be nice, at least for a moment.
Also, big picks as a link, please!

CCP, you guys are changing the models on t2 ships from their t1 hulls anyway, would it kill you to remove the extra hardpoints on the Paladin which look really dumb, and would you please please please either fix the asymmetric turret placement on the harbinger or give it its 8th turret? I'm down with it either way.
How hard would this be to do? (Honest question) __________________________________

No it's not. It's designed for 8 pairs of turrets. Five pairs on the sides, and three pairs on the top and bottom. It's missing the middle turret hardpoint on its top and bottom turret batteries.

Harb initially had 8 guns, they removed one on sis after it became apparent how op it was Then again, the drake & myrm both got gimped too so it was just amarr, can always seemed fine though. geddons slot does annoy though, reminded me of the bhaal, makes me wish i was in one of these again.

Oh then there's the megathron. It seems to have one pair of turret batteries set up for four pairs turrets and another pair of batteries set up for two pairs of turrets, but the turrets end up getting placed all over the place.

Hurricane was originally going to have 7 turrets, too :P
8turret harb, 8launcher drake, 7turret hurricane, and the pre-nerf myrm.
Would have been pretty funny :P 1k dps harbinger 4tw. __________________________________

Possible explanation: Those turret hardpoints were converted to thermal exhausrt ports?

It seems to me they could fix this by simply making the 7th turret show up as the two lower front hard points, instead of the right lower front one and something on top. That one sitting on top looks kind of out of place anyway.
Is it that hard to just change which of the remaining 4 hard points the 7th turret shows up on?
Surely its just in some configuration file somewhere that can be edited with notepad at CCP HQ, right?

lol,it's funny you say that. The extra Paladin hard points is something that has quietly been eating at me for a while. It's funny because I got my Paladin when they were released, back when they were still red before the change to the current paint scheme and I am almost certain it only had the 4 hard points.
Nice pic btw OP.

tech2 harbinger: 8/4/7, 8 turrets, 75m3 dronebay, 50 mb/s bandwidth bonuses: 10% cap use, 5% damage 5% rof, 10% optimal
it'll be totally balanced guys seriously __________________________________

And don't forget the strange turret sequence on the Machariel. Put guns in slots 1-6, hit F1-F6 and watch the animation, they don't fire in the correct order, and they are staggered when looking at the bottom, T6 is in T8 location, very weird. I think I read somewhere that all battleships were designed with at least 8 turret hardpoints for potential turret locations in case of upgraded version (t2/faction)
The last armageddon turret hardpoint can be used by the bhaalghorn, that HAS 8 turret hardpoints (although I'm doubtful that anyone would fit a bhaalghorn with 8 turrets to begin with)
I also remember Serpentis Dominixes sporting up to 9 or 10 pair of turrets, and Guristas/Mordu ravens with par too many turrets as well (9 pairs). Never checked that with premium graphics though
So the models definitely have more anchoring options, it's a shame that sometimes it gives ships moronic turret placements (old sac looked stupid as well)
