I've been running them with a friend in losec with an Onyx and a Harbinger and they kick ass. Faction gear in some of them. Made 400k LP in a few days without all the tedious grinding level 4's. I do not fly a capital, nor would I dream of doing so for one of these.
Why the hell aren't you running level 5's?

Apparently not long ago they didn't hold good rewards for the risk. But they were given a boost recently, so now they are a little more desirable. Plus devoted mission runners are mostly care bears. I'd love to do a level 5 someday. __________________ Subscription ends: 10/13/08 |

I run them for the thrill and the challenge. And the ludicrous rewards you get if you run them with just two people.

Any chance you could post the name of the mission? I've never seen faction spawn yet, compared to the dozens ive seen in lvl 3 & 4's, but it sounds prommising that there are shinys that have a chance to drop in certain missions.
I'm alittle concerened with this part of your post tho:

Hmm, I really need to find someone to run 5s with then, maybe I can get enough ISK to pay for a GTC. __________________ Subscription ends: 10/13/08 |

I included that because CCP's initial word on level 5's was that you need capitals to handle them. I don't know how many players follow that guideline, and I wanted to let people know it was false.
And this is hardly a troll post. I'm hoping to inspire people to try them because they're fun and I don't see many doing them.

I have tried to convince friends to run them with me and they pretty much refuse to until they can get a carrier in there, and they also refuse to take a carrier out in lowsec without a support fleet so... I'm stuck all by myself.

The problem i see here is the low value of lps. Sure you get up to 60k lp for a level 5 mission, but lps aren't worth much nowadays.
Before the introduction of the lp shop one was able to get over 2.000 isk/lp with a little patience (cnr bpc offers). With the lp shop faction ammo kept the price at an equal level for a while, but today you hardly get 1000 isk/lp. Maybe with some nieche modules where you have no competition, but if you go with common modules, and in particular with ammo, you won't get much isk for your lps anymore. And if you want to cash in huge ammounts of lps you will depend on items that are bought in masses, which mainly is faction ammo.
The price continues to sink, the more people start doing level 5 missions, the worse it gets. Since the reward of level 5s is mainly based on lps, they won't be any better on the long term, compared to level 4s, where you get a solid ammount of bounties and standard loot. _________________________________________ Faction Standings: Serpentis +7.60 // Angel Cartel +7.31 // Minmatar Republic -8.56 // Gallente Federation -9.71

You dont need capitals, nor is it the 'standard' as the majority of missions dont allow them.
As far as not naming the 'Faction loot dropoping' mission go's, i find your response pretty childish, like im going to get off my ass, fly halfway across the universe, just to lag out in some caldri mission hub to steal your mission.
I only Run Amarrian missions, and i simply wanted to know if there was comparable missions for both caldari and amarr.

I don't believe you. I checked the first 20 agents in your info, down to a standing of 4.4, none of them was a level 5 agent. If you did 400k lp you'd have a level 5 agent with very high standing or several level 5 agent with high standings, but you don't. Of course you'll now bring excuses like that this is your alt and such, but i don't believe you anymore.

The OP put into his now-moderated post, essentially 'Hey, join my corp if you want to run lvl 5's with a group' (added to by the fact that 'Join my corp') was left by the mod.
Being then shoved a list of demands

Notice how he explicitly says he requires that in order to build "trust". He doesn't say anything about doing exactly what he says. He never mentions any tasks that you have to do. You just have to be active and be willing to communicate on a regular basis so as to demonstrate that you're a trustworthy person.
It's a perfectly reasonable policy considering EVE's focus on discouraging players from trusting one another.

I've run a lot of level 5's dual-boxing with a typhoon and a guardian. 45000 LP all for yourself is pretty sweet. Then one day I got some Angels mission and it severely kicked my ass, lost 3 BS in 3 abortive attempts, so I scuttled back to safe L4's for a while. Doing it like that can be good but it's pretty fragile if anything goes wrong...
All you need is a capless tank that can handle 1500dps or so of the specific dmg type and you're set. Guardian with 6 large remote reppers makes that pretty easy.
Anyway, the OP is being a **** about not telling people stuff, FFS, how can it possibly hurt you? You don't want to give people a leg up? Why not? Again, how can it possibly hurt you?
I'd be more than happy to share intel on missions but I can't remember any of it to be honest.
And I was doing this on another account, not this one, if someone's going to go all sherlock like the other dude did earlier.

I hadn't even thought of it as advertising. It was an offer to help out someone who wasn't enjoying the game due to their timid friends. My mistake.
Originally by: Jmanis Catharg Being then shoved a list of demands
No, I don't trust anyone in the game who I haven't built up a dialogue with. This was not a demand to make you my pet. This was a statement that I don't run with strangers in places where they may or may not have a gank squad waiting for me.
I can't imagine anyone being stupid enough not to recognise this.
I like to consider myself a reasonable guy. I m also a reasonably paranoid guy. I don't want you or anyone to jump through hoops just for the privelage of hanging with me. This is an internet spaceship game, not highschool(irony ftw).
It's not "do as I say or go away", it's "prove you won't knife me and I'll trust you".

How much better is the faction standing/ corp standing for level 5's compared to level 4's?? In the end is it better to run level 5's for standing or better to run level 4's?
Right now I don't care about isk, lp, bounties, etc... Just standing.

I don't need to be condescended to. I made this thread to point out that a game feature, which I've heard players criticise in the past, is extremely well worth the effort.
I don't need you imposing on me your idea of what makes a valuable or worthless thread. You are not qualified to make value judgements here because you too play an internet spaceship game and you post on an internet spaceship game forum.

After reading the first page of these posts and much of the second page i realized that it's a waste of time.
First, if you truly have made this to point out an important game feature wouldn't you do it in the beginning and not at the end? Why not say, "5's rock, they are constantly ripped on, but heres the data i collected that says otherwise," like an intelligent poster instead of, "5's rock because i say so and i have absolutely no proof because i feel like being a troll" like an idiot poster.
Second, if you post a thread and thereby reply to a thread you are intuitively asking for approval in the first place, thus, you have offically negated the purpose of your own thread by saying you dont care what people think. Therefore, it is in fact, useless. After all if your purpose was to inform people of this fact that 5's rock and yet you cannot prove it or support it with anything more than guesses, isnt that the very definision of useless?
Finally, if your readers of the content YOU posted aren't qualified to make judgements on what is usefull to them or useless to them, then whom may i ask is?
This post has taken 12 minutes from my life i will never get back...

I don't think you're convincing anybody.
I could tell you how awesome something is, and how much money I make doing it, and how you're just too stupid to figure out "how to do it right". I would just be trolling, however. But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started.

Oh I'm sorry, you wanted screenshots? Perhaps the experimental results of level 5 rewards compared with level 4's acting as a control group?
Maybe I should post the EFT stats for the passive tanked Onyx since you think I should be required to prove it can tank 1600dps while using no cap.
Would you even like me to fleet up with you, take you to a level 5 and point at the faction battleship worth 10 million isk on the overview? I can even open its wreck and point at the faction loot inside if you like!
I started this thread by saying my personal experience with level 5's led me to some valuable rewards. Nobody is obligated to believe me. I threw down a challenge for others to try them and see for themselves.
You're an arrogant, and stupid little shit. And please go look up what an ad hominem means before you start accusing me of pulling one.

Ad hominem abusive (also called argumentum ad personam) usually and most notoriously involves insulting or belittling one's opponent, but can also involve pointing out factual but ostensibly damning character flaws or actions which are irrelevant to the opponent's argument.
Yet another one... Good job.

Still doesnt change the fact that your argument is incomplete.
The fundamental argument that you were being a troll by creating a thread without proof or a point and then ripping on everyone that posted asking for help still stands. You were being a troll and in responding to my posts, a flamer.
So who doesnt know what an ad hominem is? Sounds like someone uses terms which they do not understand. Would that make someone seem stupid? Perhaps. I guess the rest as they say, is history.
Have a good night.

Go run a level 5 and stop whining about not getting proof or help. I never ripped on anybody. I never started my thread saying "here is my argument, now I shall withhold proof and command you to believe me!". I started by saying I found something awesome and you can believe me or not. Take it or leave it. You have nothing to lose, but might have something to gain. You're the one calling it a troll, and you saying it don't make it so.
You're right, you don't know what an ad hominem is. You are indeed using terms you don't understand. And it does make you seem stupid. Goodnight!

I was running lvl 5 and would like to know. Did you ever got probed by pirates? And what did you do after you got probed and they set up there? Aborting a lvl 5 mission takes about 0.6 from the NPC corp standings and the bonus has a time limit.
The first time I did a lvl 5 mission in low-sec with a few pirates around I got probed and they brought Jammers, BSs, Commad ships and even a Carrier. They obviously where using recon probes (ferret..) because I was using my ship scanner every few minutes to look for probes and didn't saw any.

Personally i find it amusing that ppl are actually asking where the missions are and the op is refusing to say, despite there only being a handful of agents for each faction (always grouped together too). Nevertheless a passive hic can tank them, although dps would be lacking, the passive ishtar approach might cost more, but will run through them much faster. Real problem is the bulk of rewards are (insane) amounts of lp and salvage/tags and it's only good if you only use 2 people, or 3 max. 2 rr, injecting, marauders would be ideal, but you can be probed in 30 sec, so it hasn't been worth missioning in lowsec since they changed the probes. -------------------------

the op says he runs level 5's in an ONYX and HARB. Now the Onyx is a fairly reasonable choice for most missions, but why the hell would you use a harb? It's a fine ship in very many regards. However, it can't select the damage type and the damage/range is not all that great.
Then he goes on to act like he wouldn't let anyone ever run missions with him- as if those are expensive ships to lose.
There are level 5 agents all over low sec now(I think some have been added since the initial introduction of level 5's possibly), and guess what- no one does them. I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen people doing level 5's.

This thread is full of carebear angst, I love it.
I think the reason why people aren't running 5s is pretty simple: cooperating with your mates to defend lvl 5 systems and maybe lose a ship once in a while in defense is a seriously scary proposal.

well in all fairness most level 5 missions arnt actually that difficult. I mean not many even include capital ships. When i first started to check them out with frigs and stuff, i was expecting some kind of lagg fest with like 100 ships. It wasnt even that exciting. So now we do them with a passive drake and logistics with raven as the power... Its pretty simple stuff... I'd say wc level with everything red, and maybe approaching enemies abound part 5 difficulty... If you do find caps (which i havnt yet) and ive done 6... sure its a tad harder.. but thats when logistics comes in...
Besides... most people would find out what their getting themselves into before they do a new mission... hell thats usually what people do in lvl 4's for the first time... no different here really... just got to be prepared.
Oh and another thing... its actually quite usual to be given missions in high sec if sum of u are worried about getting popped by pirates!

in all fairness, it would be less scary if PvE-fitted ships didn't get eaten alive by PvP-fitted ships...
i personally enjoy missions in low-sec because it adds an element of danger and risk to the mission, but i completely understand why - when you're just trying to run a mission and make money - that you don't want to have to face low-sec gankers.

Very good post. Inspire people to go to low sec :)
More targets for pirates. Think i'm going to activate my old account
They are indeed fun to do and sometimes get good loot as well. I did them when lvl 5 was just introduced and the reward was not good, especially when you do it with others and split the rewards.
