oops i meant to post in ships but what the hey (i'm guessing this'll get moved soon enough ). I wanna use wolf because it's cap abilities are very nice. I have my fit almost planned out (still a little sketchy on the lows) but i'm way behind on the dps even tho i have lvl 5 in most things and tech 2 fittings.

Here's a fit I've had lying around...
[Wolf, gang dps] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Pseudoelectron Containment Field I Overdrive Injector System II
Medium Shield Extender II 1MN MicroWarpdrive II
150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S [empty high slot]
Projectile Ambit Extension I Projectile Ambit Extension I
220 dps, roughly. Not too bad given that it has a mwd and MSE (waaay better HP than plating it) __________________________________

You buy the wolf.
Guy who sells it wins.
You fly the wolf into pvp and gets blown up (because its a crappy af)
You buy another wolf.
Guy who sells it wins again

You say way better hp than plating it... how so? And are you seriously gonna dock after every fight to repair armor and where is your scrambler

Tell me then what i should fly which is good at gang and solo pvp, is cost-effective/dispensable, packs a good punch and can fight off good targets.

eh, 2 mids, it's not going to be much of a tackler anyway. Also, with the minnie t2 resists, shield buffer is waaay more effective than armor buffer - if you start taking armor damage, you're probably screwed in any case. I figure that no matter what you do with the wolf it's not going to be a great tackler, so I figure go for HP so you can tank the drones and stray fire that'll be hitting you. (I also don't fly the ship, let alone this setup. As I said, it was just lying around... in EFT :P) __________________________________

Er.. i wouldn't say so. By all means, go against Drake. Just because something doesn't fit you... doesn't mean it's a killing machine in the proper hands (or hoofs) http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=493774&page=1#1

Step 1: You buy a wolf
Step 2: You fit it like so
Low Slots Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II 400mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Inertia Stabilizers II
Mid Slots Warp Scrambler II 1MN Afterburner II
High Slots 150mm Light AutoCannon II 150mm Light AutoCannon II 150mm Light AutoCannon II 150mm Light AutoCannon II Small Nosferatu II
Remove the Nosferatu if you don't want to use fitting implants
Step 3: Wait patiently for the speed adjustment/web change/MWD-Scrambler change.
Step 4: Enjoy an expensive yet effective 200+ DPS tackler/light skirmisher.
Attempting Step 4 before Step 3 will result in having to return to Step 1. --

Tbh: 4x150mm AC II, RL II
Coreli C-type AB, Warp Scrambler II
Coreli C-type SAR,400mm RT, Gyro II, pseudoelectron DCU
rof+damage rig
There, my old Wolf setup - don't really fly the ship anymore though.
Edit: you can't use T2 instead of faction without fitting implants (and there are better implants to plug in). Best named fits, but lacks the pimp factor.

Additionally, when flying a wolf (or any Assault Ship for that matter), don't forget to load up your cargo hold with tobacco, spirits, and exotic dancers*. You are a ballz-to-the-wallz in-your-face ship, your cargohold should reflect that.

Domination gyros? Don't see it fitting otherwise.

Of course. You're flying a 40-ish M (if properly fit/rigged) coffin. Might as well carry cigs and spirits in cargo Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Wolf is fine for solo work, one of my fav ships and very fun to fly.
4 T2 150mm Auto cannons Dark blood small nos (12m)
Warp scram T2 Faction afterburner (another 12 to 15M)
Passive hardener and DCU II 200mm Plate Faction Small armour rep (20M ish)
Tracking or optimal range rigs
Orbit at 500m and turn on afterburner if you start taking damage. Very hard for anything to hit you, have taken down brutix with this setup and tackled a 2004 player's mega untill backup arrived, took little damage and was webbed. |

(a) optimal range rigs on ACs are a total waste. Fit falloff rigs if you want.
(b) If you killed a Brutix with this, yeah, nice. I killed a few Drakes and a Ferox in mine. It does not say anything about the quality of the ship, it just means that you ran into total noobs.

Wolf will become MUCH better after speed nerf - it will be the optimal mobile DPS machine, which niche is dominated by cruisers now.
I dont see it a good idea to make it taclke. MSE(+DCU as an option) give it a great survivability, doesnt gimp its agility and speed (which will be boosted greatly, and is not bad inheretly, as its Minmatar ship), and leaves enough fitting points to fit a good deal of DPS.
If you wanna fit tackle as well as do some damage - switch to Jaguar. If you want to tackle - take out Stiletto.
I used this in "mosquito fleet" we've used several times as ally - a fleet consisting solely of AFs and Interceptors + some occasional agile Vagabonds. Fit below gave me 4% damage (!) in ARCHON kill - i was sturdy enough to survive well under smartbombs and drones, and permarunning MWD makes it no-brainer:
[Wolf, Wolf - PvP AC] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Overdrive Injector System II
Medium Shield Extender II 1MN MicroWarpdrive II
150mm Light AutoCannon II, Barrage S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Barrage S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Barrage S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Barrage S Rocket Launcher II, Gremlin Rocket
Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer I Projectile Ambit Extension I
And dont get illusions - Stabber will do much better now - its cheaper and can tackle. But after speed rebalance, Wolf will redeem its place.

Yes and no, the point is nothing can hit the ship for much due to close range orbit and low sig radius however I assume that is why you left the Megathron tackling situation out of your argument.
The brutix was a noob although it took 51k dmg due to the low dps output of the wolf however if nothing can hit you (turrets) you should in theory be able to engage anything providing you can eventually break the tank.
The way i fly assult frigates is the oposit to T1 frigates, T1 you would generally use for speed however assult ships are much better tanked (yes I did say tanked) and due to the price of small faction mods, faction fitted assult ships are awesome and cost around the same price as a rigged battlecruiser. |

The issue with killing a, say, PvP-fit BC or cruiser (with current TQ mechanics) is this: You get in close, get 90% webbed. You counter-web (for instance).
Now, you either: 1) Run AB. Cruiser/BC starts MWD-ing away. Transversal drops to 0. You die. 2) Run MWD. Cruiser/BC starts MWD-ing away. Transversal is there but fairly low, your signature radius is huge. You die.
Any sort of kill vs a BC/cruiser in a AF on TQ is a product of the target being a noob. Sure, your skills and good fit do play a part, but fact is, if the target was fit with a proper PvP fit and did the right thing, you'd be dead.
I've done similar things in a Wolf, but it doesn't really say much about the relative performance of BCs and Wolves in solo combat. It just says I met nubbins who could not counter me.
I do agree that AFs are made to be flown tanked (I actually fly T1 frigates tanked/buffered as well). If you want a Interceptor, buy a Interceptor, trying to shoehorn T1 frigates or AFs into interceptor-like performance is quite silly.

I'd fit proj rof+dmg rigs on the AB-setup tbh. Since you're going to try and orbit close falloff rigs are mostly useless.
Other than that I agree with Branko, taking on a pvp-fit BC/cruiser is just about finding a guy without a clue - properly flown cruiser, let alone BC, will shred any AF without sweating.
Btw, the setup I came to with wolf is:
4x200mm (do around the same DPS as 4x150mm + rocket launcher.. without needing to bother about additional cargo) Named AB, Named scram 400mm RT, T2 exp hard, c-type magnetic hard, gyro
ROF+DMG rigs.
Best used with slave set in da head

I fit ROF + damage rigs myself, just pointing out that optimal rigs are totally useless for a AC wolf.

I'm just not comfortable without a DC, the Wolf has huge amounts of structure HP
What sort of EHP does that get (unslaved)?

With HG slaves it's a parity at 12.5k EHP(hard non-overloaded). I'd prefer to have overally weaker resists than a huge hole tbh.
