Seems to be cap stable and provide alot more defence than my previous Large booster/T2 amp combo..
Any ideas before i go and spend 90 mils on those?

Depends, is it worth it to you to dedicate three slots to shield boosters?

Well the previous 3 slots were used on the large booster/amp/cap recharger.. and EFT says my overall damage defence would raise from 282 to 335.. is this any good raise.. as i have no idea what that means..

NOT to mention the defence rating would raise to 360 o_O if i remove the thermal hardener and added the boost Amp..
Any suggestions?

Edited by: Azuse on 14/10/2008 16:07:31 Depends really, more on skills that actually mods. My alt run dual (s)b-types with dg amp and dcu, tanks slightly more than a gist xl c-type when you've got crystals in and yes, the dcu buffs the resists enough to be worth fitting (550>640 tank).
The tricks to missions are: fit minimum tank, if that large booster is working for you then no, spending another 90m is not worth it; being able to run them daily without going mad
Put another way if you have the isk, buy crystals, fit small boosters and tank like a gist booster without the suicides chasing you . It also free up the fitting room so torps actually become viable however suggesting that 90m is alot to you, and the fact you're using a large booster i'd suggest just fitting a tii xl and cap injector until you wallet and skills rise .

Edited by: Cu3ball on 14/10/2008 16:24:20 I use 2, then run 4 rat specific shield hardeners. I just look up what types I need for each mission before hand, most of the time it is 2 hardeners of 2 different types. Sometimes (like for mercenaries and drones) where they are all types of damage, I will use something like a Thermal, Ballistic and 2 Invulnerability. The main advantage is very high effective defence (as long as you have the correct hardeners) and low cap usage.
With these setup, I am cap stable without using any low slots. I like to run 2 BCU's and 2 Signal Amps. This gives me good DPS, targeting out to almost 150k, fast lock times and I still have one slot free. Take your pick what to put there. It also leaves plenty of CPU and powergrid for everything else.
Just my .02 isk's, hope it helps. Fly safe or hit hard |

I have a feeling the OP has a pile of these things to sell....
Anyway, the 2 x b-type trick does work well and allow you to fill your low slots with damage mods (4 of 'em, none of this signal amp stuff!). The resulting tank is just about ok, coupled with the gank you get, but you can't do full room agro.
I think it's worth it if you know how to pull spawns and want to fit more for gank than tank. Worth it while it's still a cheap option, that is.
If the OP keeps making these posts every week or so it won't be the cheap option for long...

The 4th BCU adds about 15-20 DPS, where the 2 Signal Amps adds 60k more range and takes 4-6 seconds off your lock time. I guess it is just what is more important to you, no right or wrong way, just a different approach. Fly safe or hit hard |

so,
MED: 2x Pithi B-type smalls 1x Boost amp T2 1x Invul T2 1x EM hardener T2 1x Thermal hardener T2
LOW: 2x BCS T2 1x DCU T2 2x PDS T2
My on my current setup i use 3xPDS T2's to get the crap cap stable. But if i switch to Pithi's, i can install the DCU there.
Any comments?

i dont have issues in lvl 4s with a raven configured as follows:-
6 x named cruise launchers
2 x thermal t2 active 2 x kinetic t2 active (magnetic for non guristas as appropriate) 1 x LSE2 1 x large booster 2
3 x BCU2 1 x PDS2 1 x DCU2
2 x mag shield rig 1 x thermal shield rig
With correctly managed aggro i dont need to warp out of any lvl 4 missions, but no doubt support skills play a role here as much as the actual equipment does...

Edited by: Tractory on 15/10/2008 08:11:25 that will depend on whether it is +4 / +3 / +2 etc. A decent set will cost you 2bil+ i would say. High grade sold not long ago here:-

Low grade crystal set not long ago was about 600m - add 33.83% to tank so not a bad investment ------------------------------------------------ Just because your not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you! |

I put tech2 scos rigs on my maelstrom back when the t2 rigs started showing up on the market..
with the FG crystals and the gang warfare cycletime reduction I was boosting around 250-300 shields every 0.8 seconds or so.
same setup replaced with the pithx XL was 3,700 every 2.7ish seconds
but even a less lavish setup some what similar to the op's is actually suprisingly good for mission running.
personally I use painters and 60km torpedos so pithum A med 3x dg amp 2x dg invul is what I run now (golem)
if your on a budget I recommend something like 2x pith B small 2x t2 amp or better 2x invul2 or better. I think it leaves your rig slots free, which would make for a long range torp ship or you can squeeze some more hp/s out of your boosters with the rig slots.

When I'm running these setups through EFT, it seems that in missions where the enemies only deal two types of damage, you get better defense from ditching the shield amp and putting in another hardener.
Are there any downsides to this?

For the last implant you need Cybernetics V, and without it it is not really worth it IMO. -----------------------------------------------

XL booster. T2 Amp.
i know it's a cliche, but that's for a reason.

There's someone selling the complete set 3.2B. Individual ones range in price from 120M to 600M.
I'm looking at buying those implants over time since it would allow me to drop to 1 med booster and 1 boost amp, and put a painter in the extra slot while maintaining the same defense rating on my CNR. Of course, while I wait for making all that cash, I might as well train for a Golem where I'd get that sort of defense rating without the implants, but it's all good
