Greetings.
Scenario as follows:
I need to find someone. A friend uses a locator agent, agent says the target is in system X. I travel there. No target in local.
So while sitting in system X and continously watching local, I ask a locator agent with an alt to trace the same person again. Agent reports after 3 mins that target is in system X (same system as before).
She still is not, and never was, showing up in local.
Anyone know whether there is a rational explaination for that?
Cheers. --

Yes, forgot to mention that. She's been online the entire time (and still is) according to the green address book icon. --

lol, I wouldn't rely on the target showing green in the adress book as proof they're online.
The address book has been bugged for as long as I've been in eve. A lot of the time if someone logs out, they'll still show green hours later. You need to either relog or remove and re-add them to your address book to verify for sure if they're online.

I logged off before, and now I removed and re-added her to AB. Still showing online.
Just did another locator agent run, again watching local the entire time. She did not show up in local at all still. --

The online tag in address book is really unreliable. I have had corp mates with the same person in their address book with different status showing for hours at a time. --

lol, I once had a corpmate scout my Impel filled with t2 mods and ships through Aridia, reporting the whole way that it was just us 2 in local. Every time I jumped in I would notice someone else in local with us. Turns out he was looking at corp chat the whole way.

Wouldn't an ALT trigger an false positive?
In other words the main account char would show as online but the char is in an alt.

Coming from someone who runs 20-50 locates in a day, I have seen this happen before.
It is a bug, I think it happens when people have jump cloned recently.
Before I run any locates I have been relogging because the address book seems especially messed up as of late. We also will check names on our alts to see if they are really online.
It's quite annoying.

Remove the person from your address book and add it again. Is it still online?
If so, then they clone jumped, but didn't enter a new ship. Apparently, clone jumping does not update your location, only entering a ship does.

Locator agents gives you the station in which the target has last docked... which means that target could have undocked from that station, roamed around and got further away from the system that your agent located, but as long as he doesn't dock again, you would still get the same location.

That could not possibly be more wrong. If the player is in space, the locator does not specify a station.
Actual example from my inbox: DOCKED: The scumsucker is located at Aufay III - Moon 3 - Astral Mining Inc. Mining Outpost station in the Aufay system, Disier constellation of Sinq Laison region. UNDOCKED: The sleazebag is currently in the Djimame system, Monalaz constellation of the Genesis region.

few options;
- buddylist bug, you stated you relogged and readded, relog again to be sure - you're not in the correct system, some system names sound similar, could be a mixup - spacenibblers ate your local channel
