I have an account that I want permanently deleted.
It was created 2/28/2005 8:02:07 PM Promotional Game Time 14 Days.
The account no longer has any characters.
And I wouldn't want my empty account that will never be reactivated to cause any DB issues or such nonsense.

On a serious note; It's a reasonable day today. Somewhere between 13 and 17 degrees celcius, not very sunny and pretty clouded. The ground temperature is just about right for those little seeds to start sprouting new grass. ___________

Your data is insignificant when compared to the size of the database. Also, I find your lack of lack of face disturbing.

Your petition has been submitted, the petition tracking id is 1257542.
Thanks for the feedback. And I invite others to post their petition numbers showing that they have requested that their accounts be closed.
I wasn't just blowing smoke about this. Removal of Ghost training has just cost CCP their first account. And within a few days I will consolidate many more of my accounts and have additional accounts close.

Yeah, like you ghost training wasn't costing CCP money... If 50% of the ghost trainers stay and pay for the training of the chars, CCP will already be earning money from this move. Even if all of the ghost training accounts are closed, they will save money on manteinance of the DB, and they might be earning money in the future with all the non-ghost training account that will replace those. ----

That is two.
And yes, removal of ghost training has just cost CCP money.
EVEN if I were able to ghost train 1/2 the time (which I wasn't) on these two accounts it has cost a total of AT LEAST 1 years worth of potential subs between the two accounts. Both of these accounts were created 2/28/2005 8:02:07 PM (give or take a few minutes)
Account 1 @ 15*6 = $90 Account 2 @ 15*6 = $90
But to be fair, I guess CCP didn't want that $180 anyway, they were coming in hot!
So "loss" of $180 from Ghost training + loss of $180 from account closing = Total loss of $360 for CCP... or
"gain" from disabling Ghost training = $180 - $180 from account closing == $0 change to CCP.
The second "gain" is CCP math.

Look: Iceland just went bankrupt. I am assuming that CCP have had their accounting department have a collective coronary, and deicde that they need a more reliable income stream. Ghost training means that they have a very fluctuating userbase, and that lack of subscription reliability really plays with their bottom line and forward forecasting / budgetting... especially for new content, which is a loss-leading activity.
By doing this they want to get a more relaible idea of their faithful userbase and real growth (or decline) in subsription numbers. Right now, I'm guessing that it gets lost in the noise. It may even be affecting their ability to draw credit to fund these development projects (Including the new WoD MMORPG that is using Eve as a test-bed).
In lean economic times, this is an intelligent, conservative move. (Conservative in the sense of conserving the business for later.)
That's my idea of the real reason why they've decided to do this, especially so suddenly. It would, of course be nice if CCP were honest and forthright enough to admit it, it it is indeed their motivation.

Yes, Iceland are having national economic issues. These have not and will not affect CCP nearly in the ways you describe. In fact they helped the subscribtion numbers in EVE.
The number of skills long enough to be trained while "ghost training" to get the subscribtiontime down to half is very very limited, especially if counting GTC's where 60 days is the minimum.
And that is also the real key to the puzzle. The number of active pilots have declined last 6 months relative to the number of active accounts. They have failed to break the user peak in this time, which is rare, and contradicting the otherwise actually more stable game we have today. Funding an account with GTC's were costing between 100-200 mil per 30 day code, and 250-350 for a 90 day. This equals 3-6 mil a day. With the new prices they're approaching a price of 10 mil a day, if you manage to ghosttrain perfectly you'll end up at a isk/day price equivalent of the former high note(Around 6 mil per day.)
Also note that the cost of subscribing in Europe has gone up from about 8 Euro per month to the current price of 13 Euro. Once again, ghosttraining would bring the costs to about what they were in the first place.
So in fact it's the US-crysis that boosted the number of accounts in the first place, CCP's counters for it that balanced it and the counters for the backlash that are removing ghosttraining - Not the other way around.

All this because you and your like are greedy, and dont want to pay CCP for the product you use.
Remember SP is a ingame value. And earning ingame stuff is for subscribers exclusively! If you cant bother paying for the subscritpion, then you should not earn any ingame values either. Just like character skillpoints!
I hope you guys and gals leave. People who dont want to support the game dont belong here anyway.

Does this mean next patch will make the following changes: * IPO's are illegal, unless all investors are using active accounts. * You can no longer give money to inactive accounts. * All production and science is halted, to avoid longer lines, you will have to restart your job once you have an active account. * You may no longer be part of a corporation. * RP is no longer generated once your account is turned inactive.
Need I go on?
As for the support comment, there are thousands of reasons to ghost train. Most of them are solely to get another character to play with later on. THe vast vast majority are players who run multiple accounts and the money saved is more often than not(Guesstimate) used to fund extra accounts. I'd love for you to try and find a single user who paid less for their gaming experience when ghosttraining(Preferably including a prediction of future investments) than those who do not. Obviously impossible to prove, but look it up and think about it.

How many accounts do you run? I have had 12. I now have 10 and will continue to consolidate.
So, greedy? Not even close Niccolado. How much do you spend on this game annually? I bet it is A LOT less than I do.
Let me do some real math (CCP math doesn't make sense).
Suppose I use GTC (which I don't... I tend to be a CC User).
Account 1 buys 60D gtc (CCP made $40). I then do ghost training for an average of 30 days once the game time goes inactive. That means in a year I get "free" training for 4 months.
I will be able to consolidate down (from 12) to probably about 2 active accounts (as I only really need about 6 of those original 12 mains).
So, this is a net loss of 10 accounts. Each spending about $40 each quarter of the year. The math is simple here... 10*$40*4 = $1600 loss to CCP. Of course there will be the xfer fees CCP collects. 4*$20=$80. Grand total loss? $1520.
So, am I greedy? Sure. I'm no longer going to give CCP my $1600/year. I think I'll go buy a new laptop to celebrate my savings. Perhaps it will help my national economy. Sorry Iceland, CCP just cost you a bit more damage to your economy.
Did I say I'm quitting EvE? No, just saving myself some money and reducing my ability to play the way I like. Such is EvE life!

And no NO ONE EFFIN CARES YOU CLOSE YOUR 5 ACCOUNTS.
Be a friggin man, close them and move away, all those nobblers posting on the forums are just attention wh*res that will never actually leave the game.

Did it ever occur to you that they don't give a rats ass about the few bucks they might lose on this? Maybe they did it because they don't think you deserved to get more than you pay for... You all just assume they did it for "OMG ZEH PROFITZ0RZ!!!111oneeleven!1"
So what if you pay 1600$ a year? If you're get skill training worth 2000$ then that's kinda messed up... Honestly i can't sympathize for all you ghost training cry babies, you can all leave the game for all i care!

Oh I forgot to add... Since I'm a CC user I'll set those 2 accounts to year long subs.
Previously I would pay for 1-2 months then ghost train for 1. So I was CC paying $15/month.
That means my average account was 8*15 or $120/year.
The loss of a CC account costs CCP less... wow - you GTC users really help CCP!
My 10 CC accounts save me $1200.
The remaining 2 accounts will become annual subs at $131.40.
Hey look at that!!!! $131.40 - $120 = $11.40
Ghost training only cost CCP $11.40 per account!!! LOL
CCP just lost $1200 to $1600 to save $114 in lost revenue!!! LMAO
