How about a little contest, about creating a planet within the PF. There are thousands of planets within the cluster and perhaps less then 1% was ever described by someone.
For some basic rules, the planet should indeed exist within this universe and the description should not conflict with any existing PF or the ingame-info regarding solar system, number of moons and asteroid belts and the description should fit with how the planet looks from space.
What type of planet would you add to the existing lore? Which would be the most interesting thing on the planet, what kind of people would live there, or write something about the local flora or fauna (if there is any) the most notorious nightclubs or any other entertainment opportunity, industry or geography.
The idea behind this, is to create a kind of semi-PF and the planet descriptions as a roleplay ressource and infodump, where people can borrow ideas or a location for their own RP. Comments and changes to these ressources should come from the community as a whole.
If this really works well, perhaps we can show the best ideas to CCP and ask, that some of them are added to the PF and even included into the game, should we get a kind of planetary interaction in the future.

I'd prefer it if they fixed the stats of the planets first.
They seemed to have mixed up kelvin for centigrade for starters, but I'm not literate enough in physics to pass judgement on the other values.

they area ll pretty messed up, looks like a random distribution or something to be used as placeholders. I would ignore them. --------------

The seed they used in the random generator was "42".

I know the stats itself are messed up, so I think it would be best to ignore them. Also I did not ask what CCP could change on the description, but rather what could we create as a ressource.

Hello Deviana Its almost funny you brought this up right now, since I am working on 2 short stories for the Library. In rewriting and expanding the first story I changed a meeting in a station to actually be a visit to a planet in Khanid. And its not the first time I ended up in Khanid, cant put my finger to why, but Khanid being a little less known and also is one region with many races which makes gives me more freedom in the storytelling.
I took this sentence of the website as canon for the people that will be described.
"The Kingdom still upholds many of the tradition of Amarr society, but has also wholeheartedly embraced the customs of others, mainly the Caldari. Many visitors to the Kingdom feel like it is a surreal mix of the Amarr and Caldari empires." Full text via this link.
In short, my protagonist will meet both Khanid-Amarr and Caldari characters in the stories.

I might be up to it, but I'm still on my crusade about returning the utilitarian ethical system to the Caldari.

Deviana, if you are starting a Wiki or similar, drop me a mail in game. I have blather about Villore III, Mies III, Weraroix III, and (maybe just to prove I'm not obsessed with the number 3) Yria VI. ------------------------- Aria Jenneth > ... Yes, very interesting. I would be willing to contribute as well, time allowing. Have a tidbit on Odamia 4, but I doubt many people care about that icecube.... --- This post is not the official statement of my alliance or corporation.

Edited by: Deviana Sevidon on 25/10/2008 20:19:52 Thanks for your replies. Sorry that I am a bit late to respond. Initially the idea came to me, when I created a background for my character I had to think about, what her origins would be. How her homeworld would look like and so on. I read also about many ideas in player written chronicles that describes such planets.
For start I would also like anyone who is interested to just give his/her example of a planet in the EVE universe. I would like to see it started as a reference point for player chronicles, that others can use, but are of course not forced to do so. A bit like an EVE-Online expanded universe, that covers some of the huge white spots in the background story and with ressources that can be shared in the community. It needs also not to be limited to planets or locations, but can incorporate other stuff as well.
A Wiki about this might be an idea but it would depend on how many people would be willing to contribute. It is easy to allow others to use a planetary description as a ressource for their own stories, but it becomes harder when we get to storyline characters a player created for his own use.
For example I might be able to use a location Verone contributed in a story, or Verone might use a planet I described, but the trouble starts when one of us begins to meet the other in one of these locations.
Edit: Oh and I am really interested in your stories, I am also preparing something for Scolluzer IV, but it will take a few days to be completed.

First I want to tell you; you are not alone. There is many reasons why people play EVE. Some sees it as a challenge to collect as much Isk as possible, or to kill as much as possible, building a corp or whatever. For myself the reason is to play roles. From the beginning I have done it, first alone and then with others. I have created 2 bkks with about 400 pages, including planets, stars and asteroids in my storyline. For me they are a integrated part, not something just to decorate the background with. So of course your idea is exellent. Only reason I did not publish my storyline is that I want and can take critics for my stories but Not about my grammar and language. English is not my native language, but I think the STORY is the important thing. Role playing will be more important when the stations opens up (I hope!). Role playing makes EVE alive. I am now involved in a "affair" with another avatar and it really gives another dimension to the game. So, do not give up on this, If I can help I happily will - eve-mail me. I would very much like to see a real place (forum) for ONLY role-playing, means; you make a ongoing story for your avatar, and keep out anything not EVE. Planets are important, without them the Eve story would be nothing. I have a long description with maps of my birth planet and the one I have an estate on.....well, I have changed CCP:s planets a little bit (physics), I am a RL proffessional geologist, astronomer artist and sci model builder and I wanted some more realism in the worldIF publishing something, This forum is not the right place...or ?
