The reason capitals cant use normal gates is because they are too small. Well, the Region Gates are huge. Capitals such as carriers and dreads should be allowed to use them.
However, i feel that Supercaps, I.E Nyx, Aeon, Titan, should be unable to use any gates.

I heard that if you use capital letters a lot in a threat title DEVS ignore it, just because. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

It isn't a tunnel you drive through, it picks up nearby ships and catapults them
How do you know it is actually more powerful and not just bigger. Most of Constellation and Region Gates could be Office Space for managing cross regional traffic, Boarder Guard Barracks, Communication Hubs and Command and Control Centers. Or it could have more power but since it is sending ships to another region that power could all be in range or volume of ships that can pass through at a time
Bigger doesn't mean it is built to throw bigger ships across the galaxy. |

well they changed it to make camping those gates more difficult...
but I always presumed the premise behind it was it needed to be bigger because it had to "throw the ships" farther....

now to add to the confusion, a machariel can use star gates but its as large as a carrier. so why can the mach do it but not a carrier. |

Super Carriers are about the same size then some dreads which have 10x the Tank.
The ratio is a little silly TBH.
Machariel Sig Rad 340 m Mass 121,700,000.00 kg
Archon Sig Rad 2,920 m Mass 1,012,500,000.00 kg
Nyx Sig Rad 12,010 m Mass 1,615,625,000.00 kg
Revelation Sig Rad 1,700 m Mass 1,125,000,000.00 kg
First off the Sig Rag and mass are pretty dumb since the Mach is bigger. Revelation has a smaller Sig Rad then the much smaller Archon yet has a slightly higher mass and is 3x the the physical size. Nyx has 50% more mass and 4-6 times the Sig Rad of other Capitals while being the same size as the Rev. The Mach has the silliest numbers for its size.
Perhaps they should take another look at how they handle size and mass on Ships because this is kinda silly. |

A carrier can carry a Macheriel, a battlecruiser, and cruiser in it's hull at the same time. "Just because I seem like an idiot, doesn't mean I am one." ~Unknown |

Add the following restriction to it, and I feel it makes sense: Cap ships may use a cyno, or a special bookmark prepared specifically for this purpose.
Bookmark requirements: Must be made by the cap ship pilot. Non-Transferrable Can only be used once in a 24 hour period. (Per bookmark, you can make several if you feel you need them, but they must be at least 1AU apart to avoid subspace fatigue issues) Cannot be located on grid with orbital bodies like planets, moons, gates, or stations. Self Generating cyno beacon appears at arrival site, during 1 minute process initiated by jumping ship. The jump may be aborted during this minute, but at the cost of starting the 24 hour cooldown on that bookmark used. |

Signature Radius has nothing to do with phsyical size, period.
Signature radius is the electronic foot print of a ship.
Carriers are extremly noisy due to the amount of electronics they run updating fleet links to all of thier fighters and keeping fighter reactors lit.
Where as a battleship is very self contained ship and can afford to stealth thier ships a bit.
