I have done a little research and it bothers me that a battleship like the Megathron with a mass of 102,500 metric tons is little more that 1/4 the size of the Enterprise-D which has a mass of 397,805 metric tons. Where are some more data points like length/width etc to put things more in perspective, perhaps the Enterprise is just more dense and is more or less the same size, I cannot tell without more data. Any hints?

Size and Mass are impossible to compare because we do not know the density of the materials used to build the ships.

I can't guarantee the accuracy to CCP's info, but have a look at these (large) pics:

USS Enterprise (CVN-65) is about 342m long and displaces approx 93000 tons, which gives it about the same rough dimensions as the Amarr Arbitrator class cruiser. The Arbitrator has a mass of 12500000 KG, or 12500 tons. This can mean one of three things.
a) The Eve ships have large open spaces inside (not bloody likely, why should they?) b) The tritanium alloys and other futuristic materials are very very light. Could happen.. c) Someone forgot to add a 0 to eve ships mass. Most likely imho, looking at the absolutely horrid planetary stats.

Thanks for the links Elena!
IF those dimensions are correct then the Enterprise-D would be about the same dimensions as a Raven, puts things in a better perspective.

The enterprise is a fully crewed ship with air filling many of its chambers, supplies for its crew for very long journeys and with artificial gravity.
Eve pilots sit in self-contained pods attached to a battleship. There is no need for any air or supplies within the ship itself.

And what about the crews?

Idk, I always took signature radius to represent size, which would make the Arbitrator somewhere in the region of 150 metres, and making mass sensible.

Edited by: Valuv on 22/10/2008 13:53:12 And Enterprise-D is a perfect benchmark for comparing spaceships, right?
Even on TNG, there are inconsistencies of Enterprise-D specs, on some episodes they say it has 36 decks, on some 38. You obviously copied those stats from somewhere, who is to say that source didn't made up these stats from their collective asses, just to give the fans something to drool at?
We don't even have a warp drive, how do you measure its mass? How do you measure Photon Torpedoes, or a MicroWarpDrive module? All these stats are just made up from designers holy-ass, to give a sense of fake depth. There is no point in comparing them.

Does not correspond to ingame sizes well.

Based on what exactly? Do you have hard data or are just guessing?

Just take a look at The Damsel.... she has a mass of 400,0 kg.
Or is her Matched Luggage factored into that ? -----------------------------------------------

Oh yeah... the stats on "Livestock" (all living things are in this catagory... the Damsel would be VERY upset if you told her tho) are quite variable... Marines only take up about 2m3 each iirc... They just sit there all geared up waiting for battle.
