I've been around a while in EVE but am pretty new to PVP. I've heard a few people talk about "hitting the jump button" many times as opposed to taking your mouse, right clicking on an object, and selecting "warp to". I've noticed that there is a lag between when your ship is destroyed and when you have the option to highlight an object in your overview and warp to it. This could have saved my pod. Thank god my clone was updated :)
Does EVE have a preset hotkey for jumping (like you can control click on something to target it), oris this something I have to program myself?

This is why you select your target object and start spamming the warp button moments before your ship pops. ---

If I'm in a fight and my ship's about to pop, it probably means I'm scrammed. It won't matter how many times I click "warp to" until I am no longer scrammed (i.e. my ship pops). When that happens, there's a delay where you can't click on anything, but they can still target you. Same thing happens when you come through a gate. There'ws a couple seconds where you can't click on anything

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 22/10/2008 15:22:35 There's always a bit of a delay, can't help that. Spamming the warp button while having something targeted is the best way. Remember that when you lose your ship you can't jump your pod within 30 seconds as it counts as a session change, you can warp but not jump.

Right. I guess the main question is: is there a ctrl+click or ctrl+shift+click or something like that to warp to a planet or whatever, or do I really have to just wait till I can right click on my overview, select "warp to" and select the range?

The first reply answered your question. Select a planet or something before your ship blows up and start spamming "Warp To". Most of the time your pod will insta warp right as you blow up.

I think you miss out on an important part; you don't have to right click anything. If you select something in space you'll get all kinds of context buttons in the little window above your overview. Approach, align, warp to and a buncyh of others. So if you're about to go boom, target something in space and then mash that warp button. There's no keyboard shortcut for it.

I think that TzarÆrim finally answered the OP question, which was what are people talking about when they refer to the "Warp-to button". I certainly found it helpful. I lost a fair number of pods recently and this could have really helped me. I have been right clicking and selecting Warp-to from the menu, which is a difficult method to spam effectively.

Yeah, as been said, getting your pod out involves spamming the warp button in the selected item window while you're dying. Because of lag, one of the warp signals will come in after you asplode, and you'll instawarp.
But no, there is no keyboard shortcut. Stop asking. --------- Your bad loan management perfectly strikes the stock market, wrecking for -777.68 points. Eve job list |
