Edited by: TimMc on 22/10/2008 17:50:24 I sent a motherboard to them which had failed a BIOS flash. When they got it, it seems I accidently got paste in the CPU socket so warranty was void. Fair enough.
However it took them all of 5 minutes to figure that out (got "We have your package" and "We have dispatched your package" emails 15 minutes apart), and then they sent my dead motherboard back when it was obviously no use to me. They then charged me the full fee for testing it (which they hadn't) and for delivery back first class.
All attempts to get money back just get impersonal responses, which just annoys me more as someone who has spent thousands of pounds with them.
Anyway, which of these suppliers are you a loyal customer to? Really like their service and prices?
Edit: oh yeah Overclockers also charged my account without sending a receipt or notification of money, so I thought someone had stolen my details and spent days freaking out with the bank.

I've been ordering parts from these guys for years. I've only ever had two issues, with a Razer Deathadder mouse, where the firmware went fishy on it and the mouse was flagging up as a malfunctioned USB device constantly, and with a DOA 500GB Seagate barracuda hard disk.
Within 48 hours, in both instances scan had sent a courier to collect it and deliver replacements. Awesome service.

I get all my computer stuff from Micro Direct. Not online though, in-store as it is no trouble for me. I have found them to be knowledgeable and helpful, with a range far wider than my requirements. I did have a couple of issues: an order arrived late once and I had a wasted trip to a warehouse, and they sold me a couple of HDDs which failed (bad batch, probably) but that could happen to anyone. On the former, I should have phoned ahead to check, to be honest. Over the 6 years I have been their customer, my experiences have been very positive.

the only problem i have with MicroDirect (great product selection btw) was that they often use AMTRAK, who are complete rubbish in my location.
(i have to watch the tracking of the parcel so i can get to the depot to collect in person, as they cannot for love or(obviously money) find my address [i live on part of a ring road, by a juction, so parking in the road is difficult, but we have a private car park they could pull into)???
Did you use silver paste on your board??? risky if your not super-super carefull! using white coloured pastes (ceramic etc...) is not so risky, easy to clean up as you can see it more clearly.
have you checked the board, clean up any paste, recheck it! They probably spotted the paste and hopefully rejected it on the spot without doing any further testing or powering up of the board.
the billing of the testing is fair do's as its part of the T&C's, just a pity you didnt get the board cleaned before return.
you can fix most BIOS problems by replacing the chip or hot chip reprogramming see ebay for programmers, or you could buy a new chip online and get it programmed for less than ú50, i bet the board was a lot more than that.
there are people that you could send your board (if its still working) to that will remove(unsolder) the Bios chip and reprogram/replace it, which sould still be cheaper than buying a new board. good luck

CCL Computers sell performance parts too, and generally cheaper than OCUK. eBuyer are usually good for prices, but not for the discerning. They don't always have 'just the one you want' and their product listings and descriptions aren't great. -------------

OH AND FOR LOVE OF GOD!!!!
KEEP AWAY FROM MICRO-ANVIKA
they sell a lot of stolen cheap rip off rubbish at inflated prices...
I used to work for VIGLEN and we had a customer that brought in a PC that had been stolen from East London University that had been passed on through M-A. It seems a lot of the stolen gear went through them...
So BEWARE!!!

I got mine from YoYotech.
There was a few problems with getting my machine, such as i got the wrong case Antec 900 insted of P180, RAM was out of stock and took an age to get in and my Razer Baracuda headset kept breaking (went thru 3 in as many weeks this includes time to return).
I did get a bit shirty with them on the phone but my issues were out of their control (except the case issue), but they did deal with all my issues when they arose and i got refunds where required.
I will be ordering from them again, because they did sort out my problems when i called/returned items to them. =============================================
My sig got edited, and all i got was a lousy e-mail |

dabs or ebuyer.
I near enough used ebuyer for everything in my comp, except one item that dabs was VERY slightly cheaper on. But other than that, ebuyer tends to be the cheapest I can find.
