Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 23/10/2008 17:39:15 Once I've trained cybernetics to level 4, I'll be unplugging my +3 attribute implants and plugging in +5's.
How much difference will this make (or how can I calculate it?)?
My attributes (using EveMon) show as:
Intelligence: 23.10 Perception: 19.80 Charisma: 14.30 Willpower: 24.20 Memory: 22.00
Will those decimal points change? My current learning levels are:
Analytical Mind Clarity Eidetic Memory Empathy Focus Instant Recall Iron Will Learning Logic Spatial Awareness
Where can I make some gains after the implants are installed - is it worth spending time training up Focus/Logic/Clarity to level 5?
Would getting Clarity to level 5 moke that 0.80 attribute become a 1.0, effectively giving me a 2 point increase at level 5?
Peace and love, Josh

Edited by: Dyaven on 23/10/2008 17:48:20 I'm 99% sure that even though the in-game attributes don't show fractions, your SP still increases faster with 19.80 in an attribute than with 19.00. So you'd really only be getting a 0.20 increase. Imo Advanced Learnings to 5 are never worth the effort unless your training a char just for learnings and selling it.

Edited by: Jethro Jechonias on 23/10/2008 17:54:45 The bonus from the Learning skill is applied after your other modifiers.
So upgrading from +3's to +5's will give you a +2.2 to those attributes. Likewise, each level of your other learning skills gives you an effective increase of 1.1.
BTW - +5's require Cybernetics V; Cybernetics IV will only allow you to use +4's.

I can say that I am 100% sure that training times are calculated using all of the digits for your attributes, not the rounded values displayed on your character sheet in-game.

Crap, you're right about it needing level 5...damn it! I'll still do it though.

DON'T!
Seriously, don't do it that way. You can get a jump clone and plug your new implants in the new body while keeping the other implants (you never know when a body with less expensive implants comes in handy).

I want the +5 implants now and don't want to lose my other implants if I put them in a new jump clone :)

It was a good idea though - I may place a bunch of spare implants into my jump clone at some point. Still waiting to get that positive 8 standing with someone though

Ok, first off, you need Cybernetics 5 to plug in +5s. With Cybernetics 4 you only get +4s.
Attributes = (base value + basic attribute learning level + advanced attribute learning level + implant value) * 1+0.02*learning skill level In your case, learning being 5, it's Attribute effective = (base + basic skill + advanced skill + implant ) * 1.1
This simply means +4s instead of +3s will grant +1.1, and later on +5s instead of +3s will be +2.2 relatively (or same +1.1 vs +4s).
Second - training up one attribute learning level will have the exact same effect as plugging in an implant one point higher, in your case, +1.1 to effective attribute value.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, you don't have to unplug implants at all. We have this (roughly 2 year old) thing called JUMP CLONES, which are basically just "spare bodies". First you need a skill called "Infomorph Psychology" (0.9m ISK at any school station), you get to have one JC spare body per level of this skill.
You also need a station with a medbay to which you have (or your player corp has) at least +8.00 standings towards the owner and 100k ISK to install a Jump Clone. Once installed, standings no longer matter at all.
While docked somewhere (anywhere) you can jump out once every 24h from your current body (which itself, all implants included, becomes a jumpclone) to any one of your installed jump clones (wherever they might be, even across the galaxy) which becomes your new current body. You don't lose any SP in the process regardless of wether you have medical clone insurance or not. Each of the bodies keep his own set of implants, so at max skills you can actually have 6 different sets of implants (5 in passive JCs all over the universe and one in your current body).

Ah, so you knew about it... hmm.
Well, there are 2 ways to still get a JC fast. First one would be to dock to a friendly player-owned outpost and just do it there (but that's in 0.0). Second would be to temporarily join a corp that has +8.0 corp standings towards some NPCs with medbay stations, install the JCs, then get out of the corp and back in your old one.

So...
With implants +5
Intelligence = (9 + 5 + 4 + 5) x 1.1 = 25.3 Perception = (6 + 5 + 4 + 5) x 1.1 = 22 Willpower = (10 + 5 + 4 + 5) x 1.1 = 26.4 Memory = (8 + 5 + 4 + 5) x 1.1 = 24.2
With implants +5 AND advanced training skills to lvl 5:
Intelligence = (9 + 5 + 5 + 5) x 1.1 = 26.4 Perception = (6 + 5 + 5 + 5) x 1.1 = 23.1 Willpower = (10 + 5 + 5 + 5) x 1.1 = 27.5 Memory = (8 + 5 + 5 + 5) x 1.1 = 25.3

Changes for your attributes:
Intelligence: 23.10 -> 25.30 Perception: 19.80 -> 22.00 Charisma: 14.30 -> 16.50 Willpower: 24.20 -> 26.40 Memory: 22.00 -> 24.20
So plugging in +5s will have the following effect: Int/Mem: 34.1 -> 37.4 : 91.2% Will/Per: 34.1 -> 37.4 : 91.2% Per/Will: 31.9 -> 35.2 : 90.6%
So basically, you'll see a little less than 10% cut off from your training times. 10 days -> 9.1 days, 30 days -> 27.3 days, etc.
As for the advanced learning skills, you would have to play for many multiple years to make up the skillpoints.

Yeah, EveMon confirms...recommended I boost my Charisma advanced skills a bit too. Once I get Cybernetics V I will have +5's and will recoup the time in approx. 6 months

There is an option in evemon called implant calculator. ( just open your skillplan and look at the right upper side )
It shows you the time you wil save if you put in higher ( or lower ) implants.

Definetly do jump clones. I always have jump clones with +3 implants and hardwirings. Losing a JC with +3 plants doesn't **** you off at all. Loosing a clone with +4-5 plants...sucks.

there's corps that you can join for a day to get jump clones sorted, usually 5-10 million and all you have to do is train the skill before hand and then install the clones.
number of corps do this, ads in the sell forum usually |

If you open up a long plan in EveMon, it has a button on the top menu called 'Implant Calc' that will pretty much tell you how much benefit you'll get (applied to that Plan).
But, long story short, if you're not PvPing or doing other pod-survival-averse type activities, then you should stick in +5's as soon as you're able to. |
