This power of 2 thing that comes round every so often.
Suppose I want to train up a character so I can try something different?
Is it possible to train a character within that 6 months offer to be reasonably competent at flying tech1 ships? By reasonably competent, I'm meaning tech2 tank, ship skill 4, relevant weapon 4, sort of thing, not really interested in level 5 skills.
Like. e.g. a non-Achura Caldari pve character? would they be able to fly cruisers, battlecruisers and battleships with tech2 tank? That's all I'd really want, so if i'd want a change from what I currently do, I could log in and be all "Fire ze missiles!" and watch the pretty explosions? |

If you also meant T2 weapons, then... Missile-based battleships, easily done. Gun-based batleships, not so much. Droneships, somewhere in-between. But battlecruisers or below should be doable regardless of type. If you didn't mean T2 weapons but only L4 in the "T1" weapon, then yeah, all are easily doable in 6 months.
P.S. That means, you focus on a SINGLE ship. Not "all of them". And no fancy T2 MWD nor maxed navi/fiting/weaponsupport/etc skills and such. For that, you might need much longer.

Please make your question more general?
Competence is what we all strive for if I'm not mistaken. If you have a good idea of what skills you want trained, factor in learning skills, fitting skills, and cap skills into EVEMON. Don't ask other people how long it will take to get a character to what you consider competent. use ****ing evemon.

SO, Evemon.
How do I make a character sheet (xml file?) that I can use with it, with the skills of a starting character? |

Nah for that it's easier to use EVE-HQ. Just plug in ALL your desired skill levels (it auto-calculates all prerequisites, if any are needed) and let it spit out the total training times (with and without optimal learnings, but without implants) for all possible starter characters (bloodline/school/attributes). Sort by time, whatever comes up under 210-220 days should just about fit in a "power of two" six-month account with +3 or +4 implants plugged in.

6 months is enough as long as you don't expect to fly 3 races competently or 1 race perfect. |

Edited by: Talsha Talamar on 24/10/2008 13:40:07 If I remember correctly I stepped into a BS (APOC) at 3.x Million SP and did slowboat it through Level 4s, lost two during the learning experience ;)
My 3.x million Caldari associate and her T2 passive Tanked Drake flies through level 3s afk.
At 7 Million SP I felt rather competently at flying APOC or Abaddon but not ueber. In any case I had to pay a lot of attention to what I was doing in a good share of missions. Thats more a feature of Amarr BSs though :)
For PVP I assume out of my stomach that 7 Million should give you the ability to fly your T1 ships up to Cruiser hulls and your choice of T2 frigate class competently in gang support roles.
If you want to PVP with turrets I strongly recommend to get T2 smalls and/or mediums. Simply for economical reasons. Compare the prices for the best named to the T2 variant. The difference can be astronomical in favour for the T2.
Just rough estimate :) |

Use your api if youve made the character. If not then eve hq like was suggested will give you all the combinations.
If you really want to do deveopment stuff by making template for all teh new character builds then go to the evemon development forums. It should have all the info you need to make what you want. |

Like the earlier poster said, I too recommend Eve-HQ to help answer your question: link. I went through this very process when I wanted Power of 2 character to fly a cov-ops Cheeta with a particular set of modules. Just start up eve-hq's Character Creation plugin, go to the Character Goal Seek tab and tell it what you want to end up with, it'll crunch the numbers for you in a minute or so.

T2 tank with support skills to 5. T2 wepons with support skills to 4. T2 ship with ship skill to 4 (HAC), 5 (Recon, all t1 ships including BBs) T2 tackle 5 in your two energy skills. 4/5 in Navigation 4/5 in some Electronics skills (signal ac. longrange targeting etc)
and thats it.

I only started doing level 4 missions at around 10 mill sp. Bit over kill possibly, but that's what i can cross training all the factions ships and weapons before really sitting down and finding something i like. |
