So are the Orca BPs going to be BPOs or BPCs? A lot of people have been saying that the Orca will "cost half of what a freighter does" -- if BPCs are what is going to be seeded... then that cost is going to be more like 1.5 billion isk. Anyone know what the story is?

Dunno know what an Orca is, but I'll guess if it's T2 you'll have to invent just like any other T2 mod/ship. If it's T1 I'm sure they'll seed BPOs via the NPC market. |

Except it doesn't, which is why I posed the question. To quote that very dev blog:
Quote: The Orca Blueprint will be around 1 billion ISK
Nowhere in the dev blog is it stated whether that is the cost of a seeded BPC or a BPO. It is entirely possible that BPOs will not be seeded for this ship at all, after all the Rorqual has only BPCs seeded.
If the quoted billion-isk price is for a BPC, then a Orca will cost only a little bit less than a Rorqual (1.5 bill vs 2 bill).

Before you start spouting drivel as facts, check your sources. BPO's are seeded and freely avail, a fact I and many others can attest to. -

CCP does not directly set prices on any BPC.
And the Rorqual has BPO's seeded, they are sold by ORE. |

Errrrrrm...
from the dev blogs, it looks like:
Orca BPOs will be seeded in ORE and DCMI stations for about 1 billion isk.
CCP dont seed BPCS... BPCs cant be put on market XD
edit: and rouqal bpo are seeded in ORE... as stated by other posters.
and from the intent, CCP does not wish the Orca to be insanely expensive...
more of a "mini-freighter"
but truth be told... I find the thing pretty useless other than for moving rigged ships..
after all, CS bonus, freighter hold, and ocator beats it for the roles it tries to fullfill...

just remember to clean up after you are done....
but yeah, so much for buying bpo for 1 bill and resaling it for double on the 1st day XD

Always BPOs. Only BPOs. NPCs don't SELL BPCs, unless you count LP shops. _

The most common role for this ship will be as a giant mobile Can.
Yes, as a CAN in space.
this will allow 2 people to mine relatively in peace for LONG durations in empire.
They're looking at a base cargo capacity of 30k+30K=60K m3. So with rigs, and cargo expanders it's going to be BIG. You won't be able to use mining lasers on it(Sorry Chribba) but you'll be able to use Mining drones if you so wish.
You'll most likely see this in empire, in belts where a corp/alliance/macrofarmer has a half dozen, to a dozen alts mining away. They'll "Jetcan" the mins into the corp hanger, and once every long while, the pilot will move stuff from the corp hanger into the cargo hold. When it's full, it's off to the station.
Or for the ULTIMATE in lazy, you'll see folks useing mining drones, and leaveing it afk mining for LONG periods of time.
With the cost of the capital coponents being about 400 mil I'd expect the ultimate price to stabalize around 500-600 mil. In Truth, they're going to be more expensive then cap ships for the first little while. |

Edited by: Jhagiti Tyran on 24/10/2008 00:11:31 The ship maintenance array looks very useful for moving rigged ships around empire that alone makes it worthwhile.

Rorqual BPOs are available on the market...
NO BPCs are available on the market, as only repackaged bps can be sold, only unused (and unresearched) BPOs are repackaged. |

It is impossible to put a bpc up as anything other than a contract or direct trade...
Like has been said, a bpo is repackaged, and others arent. |

This. The Orca was probably inveted with the hidden intention to make people create an alt account ?
