Duelling - or 1vs1 - is often offered by bored PVP players in high sec, shouting in local. If you feel like doing duelling - be sure to negotiate terms, but be equally sure you are flying a ship you can afford to lose.
Most duels are fought "to structure" or some such to keep shiploss from entering the equation. If your opponent uses drones - leave, as drones are hard to recall in time for light ships (frigs, destroyers, cruisers).
Duelling can be a good way to measure yourself against another player, but is essentially not "real" PVP.
Terms to negotiate * Stopping at structure * No drones * No help from outsiders * No gang
How to do a duel Agree to a spot the duel is to take place - could be a planet in system. NEVER a moon!
One of the involved parties jettisons a can with one item in it. The other party steals the item. Now the first participant can freely attack the thief and, once attacked, the thief can fight back. This is the same principle ore thieves use to gank miners, btw.
Questions? So, why not a moon? Well... once you go to low sec, a moon can have a POS set to kill strangers. Being podded by a POS by being too trusting is an experience you only need once. I guess I've been there... Don't start bad habits of warping to moons while in high sec and you should be fine in low sec and 0.0 too.
Why not a gang? If you are in a gang, the jet can trick will not work. Another reason not to be in a gang is that you don't want ever to risk being ganked by the duellant suddenly inviting new members to the gang.
Why no drones? Drones are hard to recall in time for light ships (frigs, destroyers, cruisers) and increases the chance of an accidental shipkill.
Can I duel you? Per principle, I don't do duels. I just don't find it a challenge as such. But I will break that principle for members of my alliance, so yes, you can. I am not in Empire much, but if you tell me you want to, then I will find a date and a place. Or I will hook you up with another Big Bang Quantum pilot who is interested in duelling to hone his/her own skills.
Have you done duelling before? Yeah... I did it when I was much younger. Twice. Killed the guy, since he did not stick to the rules agreed on, and he still hates my guts. Hence I do not do it anymore.
PS: There may be outdated informations in this topic, as, as I've said, I haven't duelled in years.

While posting all your guides will probably help a couple of people, posting each guide in it's own thread is tantamount to spamming.
So if i may make the humble suggestion to reduce all your threads to one, and then post each individual guide in it's own post, then it'll be so much nicer for the rest of us |

Seriously, love, I don't think you are right. I thought about your idea for about 3 seconds, but then I dismissed it, as it is not related topics.
Thank you for your input, which is not related to duelling, but I am sure you wanted to express your opinion on that topic if you had one...

You don't stalk people, do you? If you have better advice, post it This is the one topic I am posting on which I am not current on, so I posted a caveat on the topic. Bite me... no, on second thought, you don't get that honor!

You should try to restrict yourself to posting guides on things you're actually familiar with and do alot of.
Maybe you could post a guide to guide posting. ~-~-~-~-~ -[WillChat4ISK]- I can be the handsome Amarr space captain. You can be the helpless Minmatar slave girl. |

Maybe you could post a guide to guide posting.
And you could post a quote to stalking, spamming and being absolutely useless?

Pew pew to death!
The "terms to negotiate" shouldn't be there except the No help from outsiders (duh!). No drones could be changed to no ecm drones or removed. When dueling I would prefer to be in gang with the other guy so I know he doesn't have friends ready to warp in, although that wont guarantee your safety from his friends if the other person has decided to dishonour the duel. |

If you are not in a gang with them then they can be in a gang of their own with friends a jump out...
I'm all for guides to help folk but this sounds more like a guide for in corp fights.
The best advice you can give any one about duelling is:
Just say no.

Ignore this guide at your own risk. When you "honorable" opponent breaks the rules and you lose your ship, any forum posts you make will be answered by "told you so". |
