Edited by: Willem Revolati on 25/10/2008 12:31:01 Hello, fellow capsuleers.
The following electronic blog is not by me, but by the entire crew of The Mad Professor II, a Tempest model Minamatar Battleship that I have the rpide of captaining. I like the lads and lasses who do so well to keep us running to feel important and I always honour their right to pass on ideas, and so I gave them this diary, so they can let us all know what their personal experiences are like when on aboard the ship.
I am uploading the first blog as we speak...

Now theres a saying thats quite popular amongst many combat ship crews...
"With gunners the glass is always half full, but with the Engineers it is always half empty"
I have this saying written on a note pinned to my station! I suppose it means that for the lads up in the gunnery team they're seeing the ships explode and realising more and more with each kill that their it will soon be over. Whereas when you job is like mine and you have to spend all of the battle calculating all the damage that is being done to the shields and seeing those energy bars gradually decrease you tend to start thinking that the battle will never end. Haha, sometimes the captain mocks us in the Engineering Team by messaging us telling us that 3 new enemy battleships have entered the battle, I think he just does this to keep us working hard, and it bloody well works!
Here's one story from recent times that got all the Engineering team in a panic;
Now the captain for along time used to rely heavily on his sheilds, we would apply many upgrades and crew members to keeping them running. But one day after having a meeting with his fellow pilots and captains he came back with a radical idea...
To let the shields deplete more rapidy so that we can tank the damage with our armour whilst being a great deal more energy efficent so that we can concentrate the capacity more into offence than defence. The theory is that repair systems can repair a damaged plate of armour alot quickler and with less energy that Boosters can recharge a shield, plus armour resistance plating can be much mroe efficent, especially against EM damage.
Now when your job is over look the shields, news such as this is hardly what you want to hear, and indeed I bargained with teh captain and got him to keep two units of resistant plating on the shields that we can adapt based on what damage we are expected to take.
So we tested this set-up by heading into a rogue drone hang-out. For a while the shield were more than adequate and their were only down to 79% by the time we had popped the first wave of drones. But like all bloody rogue drone batlles, they just keep coming and coming and coming, and soon it was time to see if the new set-up would work.
Now the first thing you notice when damage starts by passing your sheild is that things get a hell of a lot bumpier. Every hit makes the ship shake like a Matar tremor. Everyone soon learnt that it was a good idea to sit down in a fastened-down chair. But nevertheless the set-up worked like a beauty, armour damage never reached any lower than 80%, even my shields eventually started creeping back up in power. Plus we had never left a battlefield with so much spare power, didnt even have to rely on our back-up capacitor boosters, let me tell you that the Energy Team were very happy.
The only I would like to see changed with this new defence set-up is the introduction of chairs that can swivel and remain stationary, because I think I'm going to get bloody vertigo if things carry on being as bumpy as this!
