Quote: With its corporate raids and virtual intrigues, EVE Online is perhaps the most cutthroat of MMOs. But its devotees, it seems, are *****cats in real life. A press release issued this morning by the Get-Well Gamers Foundation reports that the official fan club of EVE publisher CCP, The Camarilla, raised $4,000 for the charity by holding silent auctions and raffles of donated items during gatherings.
Whats that about? Did i miss something, or is this some White wolf/WOD thing?

I believe there is/was an auction for a very special tour of the CCP H.Q. in Iceland and that certain goods valuable and/or rare in nature are to be auctioned silently at the Fan Fest this year, but I have never heard of this "Camarilla", a term which indeed describes an organization in the World of Darkness mythos.
If I was to hazard a guess, it is that "The Camarilla" is what the CCP representatives whom are responsible for managing the latest incidents of fund raising filled out on a form when handing over the "dosh", as it is called in certain quarters.
Though I could be completely wrong.

I'm not really an expert either, but the Camarilla is, I think, a fan club for the CCP/White-Wolf vampire games as well as an organization within that world.
This is not related to the Silent Auction and office tour though, that's more of a Fanfest event and the money goes directly to Child's Play charity.

Ah, there we have it then - perhaps not entirely EVE related, at all.
Also, don't trust what you read in the media as being entirely accurate when reported ...

The cammie capes are the bastards that try and enforce rule over the vampires in WoD, vehemently opposed by the Anarchs.
Its a catch all term for all vamps that aren't Sabbat, as like it or not they would be classed as Camarilla if they are not Sabbat.
Anarchs aren't too fond of it though :D
(All this taken from Bloodlines)
Not sure what the real world organisation does.

Edited by: Sopha Serpentia on 29/10/2008 16:39:44 The Camarilla is first an foremost White Wolf/CCP Live Action Roleplay organisation, where students of various kinds run about in the dark pretending to be vampires/werewolfs/mages etc, playing sissor paper stone (don't ask), and trying to avoid getting shot by real life law enforcement.
The camarilla is worldwide and is argueably the largest single "in game" Live Action roleplay world/organisation. So its a fanclub of sorts I guess meaning that everyone in it prolly like white wolf and has alot of thier products, however tha main consideration here is LARP.

Actually, that may be what it is NOW, but it was not this first.
Vampire the table top RPG (think D&D, or RIFTS) first came out about 20ish years ago (maybe a little less):

Not sure what the real world organisation does.
This is where it originally came from in reference to White Wolf, the original producer of the Vampire game.
Evidently the name was later used for this (after re writes destroyed the penn and paper game).

This is kind of irrelevent, the camarilla as stated in the op refers to the fan club, not the ancient order of vampires

I wouldn't call it irrelevant, maybe to the op, but not to the post in this thread that I personally addressed.
Yes, its the name of the fan club, and what I stated is where that name originated from, when used in connection to White Wolf, so while not relevant to the OP, it was relevant to the poster I quoted in my post.
But thanks for your 2 cents.
