So.. does anyone have any suggestions on how one goes about making sure you don't end up with someone whose got the tenacity to steal from your corp... and then shaft your entire team?
Oh and I wasn't the CEO.... we where powerless... so we are kinda sitting here scratching our heads.
Any suggestions on implementations on to prevent such things?

Edited by: Marco Ragnos on 29/10/2008 16:07:12 there is no art, just common sense. YOu dont give random people power over anything til they prove themsleves... Of course somtimes if person has been been in for 2 years and decides to go the wrong path, there is nothing you can do about it (Like what happend in one of the bob corps)
edit: since i didnt answer your question fully....
1) Api codes 2) history Check (past ceos) 3) Ts interview 4) Api Code 5) Character Screen - Screen shot
And even after that, a spy/evildoer might somtimes get in...
I did get into exceed =x

Yes.... I can agree to that... but it's a little hard to accept when you had no power to begin with to stop it.
What would having the API key's accomplish if I may ask? (dumb question I know but I feel I'm missing something here)

also lockdown corp bpo's and have strict control on everything from secure cans to POS levels of acsess, benefit of having shares distributed among directors and ceo is that if the ceo's acount gets hacked the directors can vote against lets say a bpo unlock.

If you have 1/4 (duplication typo or emphasis?) you don't need 5 since you can see all characters on that account using the API info.
To answer the OP's question: you can use API keys to see the identity of all characters on an account and what skills they have. This helps elminate obvious spies (i.e. alt spy on the same account as someone else) and it lets you see if the applicant's skills match up with what you need (i.e. keeps out the 'hardcore PvPers' with nothing but mining/industry skills). -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

So If I'm understanding you correctly.... Shares... allow votes... or controlling interests in the Corp... much like a real life Corporation.... such things allow locking down assets and what not?
EDIT: Ah ok... now I get it... so API's allow you to check out the information on the account. As far as the character screen shot... that would reveal the age of the account... which could be useful... but I guess that also allows you to gleam that info from the API key.

Shares gives a share holder the abillity to vote on corp actions like locking/unlocking bpo's/War decs/even giving the ceo the boot. api key is basicly a toon "fingerprint" Grunt's

So you have the ability to kick out the CEO if you have shares and that would mean majority holdings?

Only recruit people you know well. Similary, have a long recruitment process, whereby members must prove their comittment to the corp beyond any initial excitement when they first contact you to join up
Finally, build in things to roles and hangar permissions to minimise damage and compartmentalise your assets as much as possible. Even for a massive corp, you only need 2 or 3 active directors, so don't promote anyone you don't need to
Forget shares, they're flawed
_______ People like that don't have friends just temporary common interests.

Those are all good, but I would also check thier contract history, NPC corp standings, agent standings, killboard history on places like battleclinic, closely review thier wallet transactions, specifically thier donations from other players.

Hostile takeover already happened : O )
This is just the aftermath of WTHWTF now what?
: O P
Anyway.... all of your posts... thank you... this is very valuable information and I will take it all under advisement.
As for the shares... whats flawed about it?
Also... anyone have an effective methodology or step by step process to sum up whats been said here? I'm having trouble getting it witted down to "how to keep idiots out of your corp for dummies" type format.
Other than the obvious common sense... don't promote to quickly... don't let just anyone in...etc..etc.
