Well you had trolls about ganking, pvp , faction warfare ship balancing, pve, mining, industry and much more. But habe you heard about scamming? No, I'm not here to complain about the fact I got scammed because I never have, I'm here to ask what ways of scamming are there. I have to make a billion everyday using just margin trading, trade scam and the usual contract scams. So I'm asking are there any other ways?
I personally use margin trading as for example the best one was today, when I scammed a noob out of his drake and all his isk(80m) in Rens. I offered him some useless tags wich seemed to be rare(you know how I did it not explaining) He contacted me asking if he could buy for the discounted price because he only had a Drake to run missions with and 80million. He sold the drake and his fitting to gather enough isk to complete some of my buyorders then he ran of to jita to make a supposed 300m profit. I then just logged off but I'll contact him later to see how his sales were. Either way this is not a BIG scam but I for the first time ever after lots of scamming feel bad for the poor guy. ( I know I said best but this has the best story behind it not the best amount tho)
Anyhow have any of you ever scammed(im sure you have) and if you have how much isk or items were involved and did your victim produce tears?

How was that not harsh?
To the OP: I doubt most scammers are enthusiastic about sharing the tricks of their trade, any more than most master traders are willing to share their most profitable schemes. On the other-hand, non-scammers might not be over-enthusiastic about giving you ideas... You might want to read some threads by victims to figure it out. |

This.
Scams these days only need a single brain cell and knowledge of copy cut paste.
They are so blantantly obvious its pathetic....I practiucally fall asleep when I see them.
People who fall for them should be removed from the gene pool right along with the scammers....not because of the scam...but becasue its embarassing to be in a game where they do something so stupidly obvious. ================ Get PAID FOR SPAM! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=78152 |

The best of the best scams are done such that the victim never knows he's been scammed
By no means is the margin trading scam new or innovative but it does have the ability to fool the victim into thinking his inability to sell to that market order was for reasons other than being intentionally screwed.
When I bought my first freighter, I went around trying to find things to do with it. I quickly found that good isk could be made running huge amounts of ore or minerals around for high volume low margin trades. In this frame of mind I ran across a market order for a large volume of Trit at well over the market. It had a minimum quantity on it.
To make a long story short, I actually ignored the related sell order in the same system that was priced well below the buy order but significantly higher than the 'market'... filled my freighter with tritanium from the market hub and trucked the 10 jumps to where this buy order was placed
Needless to say, when I went to sell the trit, the order failed. At the time, I assumed someone else sold it out from underneath me.
This all worked out ok for me as it only cost me time actually... I simply hauled my trit to the next best market and still made a good profit
Had I been the unfortunate victim who had purchased the overpriced tritanium in the same system hoping to turn a quick profit I would have been stuck with it and ended up losing a significant amount of isk. As it was, I ended up killing the scammers margin order without him ever selling his high priced tritanium
The point is, I never knew I had been scammed. I eventually gave the freighter away in one of my ragequits and never really got back into the business of bulk hauling. The only thing I can say for sure is that EVERY time there is a minimum quantity on a buy order that some sort of scam is involved.
So if you want to run the best scams... make it so the victim never knows he's been scammed. Margin orders can accomplish this as do hauling contracts with exceptionally large collateral requirements... teamed up with a good suicide ganker of course. I ran a few contacts into and out of Amamake simply for the profits that could be made on the failed contracts. Actually made a fair amount of isk but went through a long dry spell where no one failed and I lost interest in doing it
Anyways

New Eden is a better place because of cheese...it goes well on just about any food.
Back on topic, an actual decent scammer that used to chat around in the major trade hubs with his alts - Burnie Madoff - would do mineral buying/selling...haven't seen him around lately but haven't really been in the trade hubs in a while.
Another classic is the Carbon instead of Charon one...haven't seen it for a while either.
edit: it's usually funny to me to hear the crying and whining of people who 'got scammed' when they were the ones who were led by their own greed (and think they're the clever ones until they find out they've idiots). It usually happens that way in life as well, scams wouldn't generally succeed if the scammees wouldn't be so damn greedy. |

Pretty much. I really do wonder how many times people have posted to their corp chat talking about this great scam they just pulled off on some poor sap, only to have it pointed it out that they themselves were scammed.

I've made a couple billion scamming the amateur trade window scammers who decided to copy someone who REALLY knew what they were doing. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |
