Hamilton and mclaren stabbed alonso in the back. While I dont like alonso much either I can't condone mclarens actions.
Hamilton taking the title will do alot for the sport and might actually get the BRDC off their comfy chairs and do something to save the british GP and secure it for many years to come. I don't know who owns donnington park but I might make the trip there to see if they can prove how badly silverstone was run. (been twice to silverstone and it was an awfull venue) With hamiltons new found celebrity status I hope he uses it to good effect and drives the quality and funding back into british racing.
The racism was really bad and I'm gutted it crept into a sport which I used to love so much.

I think most teams on the grid have "cheated" at one point or another. One of my favorites was BAR's additional fuel that accidental always got past the stewards post race checks :/
Wether the teams push the technical boundries of the rules to the limit use every trick in the book to get the last drop of performance out of the car its always kinda shocking when it happens.
finding out last years big scandal really broke me tbh.
This years scandal made me chuckle and If I was in the paddock I would have been patting max on the back for his sexual heroics at such a twighlight age. he went up in my expectations thats for sure

What a discussion.
He did what he had to. He came >= 5th and didn't risk too much, although I must admit, the last 2-3 laps had me pinned to the TV ..
So just chill people. Ferrari won it with one point last year and Lewis won it by the same margin this year.
Get over it, it was an awesome race that I think we all enjoyed (some more than others agreed ).
Just enjoy the sport --

I can see what you guys mean by racing in wet with dry tyres = bad, but watching it Glock had the pace all through the lap untill the last corner when all of a sudden he slowed which allowed Vettel and Hamilton to pass him, but i guess we will never know if it was done to help hamilton or was a legit mistake on Glock's part, but hey thats racing for you.
I for sure am looking forward to next season and hoping it is as exciting as this year has been... and hope Ferrari get the title back!

Oh, and for those couple who were saying I'm biased/nationalist etc when it comes to F1... I visited Maranello in October while in the Modena area (the nearby town of Spilamberto) on business.
Saw the Ferrari Museum, Factory and test track courtesy of the company I was there with. Sadly, I wasn't allowed to take photos in the factory but have a lot of the museum. If any of the Ferrari supporters want a copy of them to take a look, feel free to evemail me and we can sort out a fairly hefty sized zip file of about 300 pictures.

I don't personally believe that Mr Hamilton is arrogant.
I missed the live race (DOH!!!), but caught the highlights just now (sadly after already knowing the result as a rabid F1 fan friend phoned me up to scream down my ear at me shortly after the race), and the first thing Hamilton did when he knew he'd won, before he even got out the car, was praise his team for thier part in his victory over the team radio.
In any event, he won over the course of a season by being higher up the points table than all the other drivers. Isn't that the whole idea of an extensive season with multiple races?
There is a difference in arrogance and knowing your own worth and Hamilton is a world class F1 driver, with a great team behind him simple as. He's got a right to be proud of that.
Masa wasn't "robbed"; he just didn't do as well as Hamilton this year.
I look forward to next year's F1 season. Should be a good one. Just a shame that Schumaker and Hamilton were born so far apart, as I'd love to have seen them duke it out in the wet.

If it was done deliberately to help Hamilton, it only partially offsets Raikkonen doing the same thing to help Massa a few races back; since that gave Massa a freebie two points, not just one. ________________________________________________

Way to put the spoiler in the thread title
Many people watch the races on Monday. Not that I care personally since it's only F1, stopped watching that some time ago.

Originally by: theghosthunter I have to agree with you there mate, it was obvious to see Glock slowed down to allow Vettel and Hamilton to pass, and yes i am british but have been a Ferrari fan all my life and Massa is an outstanding driver and has done on hell of a job at Ferrari
While I readily agree that Massa is a very good driver indeed, I think Hamilton won a well deserved championship. Regarding Glock, immediately after the pass I had no idea what just happened and since have thought the same thing, that maybe he did let them pass. But it simply isn't the case. The fact is he took a gamble staying out in an increasingly wet track on dry tires. The rain only affected parts of the circuit and increased over the course of those last 5 laps. Regardless of the gap he had over Vettel/Hamilton, toward the closing stages he would have been aquaplaning or spinning his tires any time he tried getting the power down. You just can't get very far in a F1 car if you have no grip.
Originally by: Verone Personally, being british and seeing Hamilton taking away the youngest ever champion title from Alonso, and the driver's title away from Ferrari, both of whom have done nothing but try to find every technicality, loophole and regulation to either hinder Mclaren and Hamilton or gain an advantage is the sweetest taste I've ever experienced...
Amen. Despite penalties and stupid FIA rulings over the season, the boys from Woking still got Hamilton to the title. They didn't make it easy though, those last 5 laps were so intense I almost couldn't bear to watch. After Vettel's pass I thought it was game over, the McLaren just lacked pace all afternoon, but weather and tyre choices got him the 4 points he needed. Well done Massa for a great race win, and Hamilton for his season victory. Now what to do on Sundays till next March? -------------

Well, I'm a Spanish fan, and I support Alonso. I still think he's one of the best drivers out there. But I'm not racist, so I think you two are being a bit unfair to all of us who are not racist. You see, I see a lot of idiotic tennager British tourists in Spain, getting druged and drunk, puking on the streets, but I don't believe all British citizens are like that. In fact I had the pleasure to visit GB once, and I really liked it and had a wonderful time (and was treated really well , though the food was not the better part ) I love this sport, I've been a F1 fan since I was a kid. It was a thrill to see yesterday's race, and I believe the best driver-team combination won. Hamilton deserves the championship, and I'm sorry for Felipe, because he gave a good fight. Cheers. ----

Awesome race, truly awesome.
I was one of the many who had given up at the start of the last lap, and I was in the process of leaving the room in diappointment when Massa crossed the line.
Fortunately, the shouts of the commentators drew my eyes back to the telly!
Well done to Lewis, surely Sports Personality of the Year must be next!

I don't think he was directing it at anyone in particular, but referring to this behaviour in Barcelona 2007. It's sad that the rivalry between the two of them in Lewis' rookie season became almost personal, and that the fans bahaved as they did, but they have sadly tarnished your countrymen in general. I'm sure it'll be forgotten in time. -------------

Ha ha ha ! Gutted Ferrari fans everywhere, good. I've had it up to here with the stewards favouring Ferrari with some frankly absurd penalties against Hamilton - he had to beat Massa on the track and the Red Car Conspiracy off it. I note that the Official FIA Website still has the result as provisional, I wonder if Ferrari can pull off a last minute bit of cheating to rob Hamilton of his title?
Wouldn't surprise me.

Oh, and thank God ITV have lost the coverage. Advert breaks in a live car race? That was never a good idea. Their commentary was laughable too. Good riddance.

Well done Hamilton, McLaren and co, was thrilling end to F1 season and ITV's excellent coverage over the last 12 years. Shame on the admins who made McLaren walk on glass this last season...
At least it was better than the cricket result which was an utter shambles...

No. He was slow throughout the entire lap, as was his teammate, the only other driver still on slick tyres. (They both recorded almost identical times for the lap.) ________________________________________________

And this is not the only instance the Spaniards have done this in Sport. Last year it seemed like almost every week Spanish fans would hurl racist insults to Samuel Eto and other African footballers in La Liga! It was definitely enough to put Spain on the list of countries I will NEVER visit.

Well, if you think that way, I can't do anything but feel sorry for you. You are putting all of us in the same bag, and you'll miss the majority of the people here who are ashamed of that few idiots who do that kind of things. You see, I hate neo-na.zis, but I loved my visit to the USA (and they have such groups there.) And I'd love to visit Austria or Germany, where such groups also exist. But I don't believe the majority of the people in those countries think that way, in the same way I don't think the majority of the British are drunkards because I've seen drunk British tourists here. ----
