*) Pilot License - Please make sure you don¦t forget pilots with an expired account! Currently you only transfer the isk from another account to the expired char and activate the account in account-management with the bought GTC. Please don¦t make this impossible.
*) QR: Why not deliver both industrial expansion and performance at the same time? I heard that CCP has now 400 ppl (probably including vampires...), what is the rest doing?
*) Evelopedia: Just release it! We are waiting long enough for it!
*) Rules regarding forums: Please allow devs to post on forums. I think the Q&A session of Zulupark was one of the best actions in the last time, even is some answers were a bit short.

Kinda disappointed.
QR doesn't look so much as an expansion as just some tweaks to things.
In a way it seems to be how SOE promised a Crafter's Upgrade after the Combat Upgrade.....yeah we never got that Crafter's Upgrade...instead we got yet another combat change called the NGE.
For something that was said to be for industrialists, what's up on the features page is kinda disappointing really.
Thoughts expressed are mine and mine alone. They do not necessarily reflect my alliances thoughts.

Same opinion here... But I'm not an industrialist. I think it's somewhat poor for them compared to what we (combat pilots) got last 2 years...
Fanfest effect maybe ?

Are the Pilots Licenses a replacement for GTC's?
I dont see any way that an inactive player could re-sub via Pilot's Licenses, given that they have to log in to hte market to buy one.

Agreed. The alchemy stuff will just serve to increase the wealth of the null sec alliances (I would have rather seen moon mining ships for high/low sec instead and increase the possibilities of supply rather then further increasing the value of null sec).
The Ocra.. it gets points for effort, but rolling all the various industry needs into a single ship that does all of them poorly (some poorer then others... it looks like an ok forman ship, but a lousy rigged ship mover).
I guess the T2 Transport changes will help.. someone.. I'm not sure who though.
So all in all, while there are a lot of nice little things in this patch, for industry, it's not much of an expansion. It doesn't even really live up to what AE was to combat types.

You know, you still have to buy the GTC's for cash before you can sell them on the market in EVE...

That won't be a problem as long as the license can be applied to another character: ie right click on the license and choose "Apply To Character...", search for the character that you want to grant the license to, and confirm.
In which case it would be no different that how you currently need an active character to post in the Timecode Bizzar.
However, that assumes that they provide that sort of functionality We are still waiting for confirmation. Hopefully they have thought of this, or they might see alot fewer reactivations.

Very cool dev blog.
The new GTC trading idea sounds great.
There is only one concern that I have: can you apply the "CONCORD 30 Day Pilot License" to an "unlicensed" pilot?
If you can't use them to reactivate inactive accounts, that would be a major loss of functionality from the current system.
Enabling you to activate this is definitely something we'd like to enable in the future. The usual ways of getting ETCs and enabling and exchanging through account management will be available as before in case you don't activate it before your gametime runs out.

I'd like to note that developers often need more functions than just wiki page editing. There are already many hours of work beeing put into the eve-dev wiki and i think it'd be a good idea to talk about ways to get the best out of it on fanfest. I'm already in Reykjavik and really looking forward to it :)
Absolutely, I believe there is a roundtable on that and other topics as well as we did do a call-out a while ago to the wikis out there to get us all gathered together. This was also part of the decision to use mediawiki, most people use that and information sharing and reconciliation is easy between them.

CCP = more staff = less content.
Again and again you promise cool content the we never see, sits in the "in development page" or when its delivered in no way nearly lives up to expectation being watered down and cowardly.
City of Heroes makes more content than you guys and during 2006-2007 they had a perminant development staff of 6.
1. Stick to your original release plans (tech 3 (4 years), COSMOS 2.0 (3 years)) 2. Stop procrastinating over content in favour of being some kind of industry innovator. 3. Go tea-total, trust me, the beer isn't helping.
We actually create quite a lot of content, even minor patches have included more than 100 missions. We want to create more but we need to develop our PVE systems more before we can let slip the dogs of war. You'll see something very positive about that at Fanfest.
"Sticking to original plans" makes you no longer agile. As an organization and participant in evolving EVE, if we can't react to the circumstances that come up over a period of 5 yeras, we'd be long out of business.
We can agree on general proctastination but hey, I don't think addressing lag was such a horribly bad idea - or should we have waited beyond Tech 3 to do that?
And I actually drink lots of tea

Hopefully that is soon, and not SoonÖ.
Like I said in this post, all we need is the proper right-click option and a confirmation box or two.

CCP = more staff = less content.
While it is true that there is a diminishing return on increasing the number of developers, what CCP seems to be suffering from is 'technical debt'.. i.e. the increasing cost of adding new features relative to the actual complexity of the new feature on it's own.
EvE has become a spider web of 'feature A requires broken behavior of feature B which is needed to make C work', so adding or balancing any feature causes an avalanche of things that need to be adjusted at the same time.
This is so spot on it's not even funny and with every expansion and patch we've been putting in more and more effort addressing technical debt. Agile development is also a way to address that in the long term with more best practices, refactoring etc.

Originally by: Kazuo Ishiguro Did you consider introducing trade-able GTCs in a format similar to corporation shares, which do not exist as items, and allowing them to be exchanged solely via contracts?
Also, what happens if I buy a 30-day license and delete the character whose hangar it's in?
Yes and we will consider moving this mechanic, as well as others, like shares and so on, when we'd have a system to recieve it all, say, like a stock market and more efficient tools to generaly exchange intangibles.

This does mean just about all GTC's, especially those that will be exchanged will be created and use in Jita 4/4. I hope Interbus delivers pilots with lower sec status to them?
For one thing this will allow us as EBANK to hold GTC's as collateral, however, we need to be able to ensure our lower sec / 0.0 customers will be able to send us their licenses.

1) Will CCPs acceptance of contract scamming carry over to scams on gtc-Pilot Licences. 2) If not is this the beginning of the end of contract scamming as a profession. 3) Will not being able to transport these items mean I have to physically be in the station they are being sold? 4) If yes, dosent this make GTC sales a right pain in the ass. How will a pirate or 0.0 pilot get to jita to buy a gtc. Presently he dosnt need ot move, with the new system will he have to travel 70 jumps? 5) Further to the above question will contracted gtc-licences be able to be activated remotley (ie by a pilot not in station) 6) Why cant we transprt these items. What is the difference between:
a) selling a gtc under the present system for 500mill, buying an implant fpr 500mill, transporting it and getting blown up. Killer pilot sells implant for 500mill and buys a gtc for his account. b) making a pilot licence for 500mill, transporting it, and getting blown up. Killer pilot uses it on his account.
MAny thanks
SKUNK
We're still finalizing our policies, it's better to wait till that's done. You create it in the station you want to sell it it and have to use it there as well.
There are a lot of ways to address transport in general, one mentinoned above, another simply removing the restriction but limiting it to stations is a good start in mitigating the biggest risks.
You can activate them remotely though, through assets I believe.

It's always disappointing to have to drop features - and it doesn't matter if that's for another feature or disaster recovery.
I think I can also say that the following expansion will include more meat for our industrial professions, directly and indirectly. After all, war is good for business.

Awesome Blog.
But I'm seriously getting tired of reading "More about that at Fanfest"
Can't the 200 Thousand of us who can't afford/don't have time to go get some sort of small spoiler or at least a hint?
It sucks the the few who will get to hear about the goodies first, is selected solely on money/responsibilities.
Can't we have a contest or random drawing so some of the rest of us can at least get an E-mail about it Besides, I'm never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down |
