It is very simple actually, and it is based on human nature, Humans have a built in fear of change. Change is feared, because when given the choice of a new thing vs what already works, people see no reason to try the new things. In short fearing change is a survival technique.
If you have not realized what that means about nerfs yet I'll explain, nerf in a sense is more then just change it is a change that you know you will not benefit from. People fear this more then anything and to preserve themselves they essentially run away.
There are quite a few sayings related to this like, "When the going gets tough the tough get going" "Curiosity killed the cat"
So are nerfs actually that bad? Not really, if a nerf is coming around what do you think that means about what is being nerfed? DER that it has a advantage over other things. If you quit you say "I can not compete on a even playing field." Do you really think being able to speed tank anything in your nano-hac is fair? Nothing makes me angrier when someone says things like "What I trained months for is now **** so the game is now broken, so I quit." NO you just spent your points trying to be overpowered and now that it's been reworked to fair you run like a chicken s***.
I have no problem with people quitting I just want to see people quit for the right reasons rather then a nerf. |

Maybe you should look into what I pilot before making statements like that, I'm Gall all the way and my blaster ships are being affected, but I probably just going to go more heavy on drones now, so whats your point?

You can't seriously be talking about "survival techniques".
This is a game for the love of god, noone in here plays it to "get by".
If someone quits over a nerf its because the nerf removes some of the aspects of the game they enjoy. Everyone knows, that given enough time, they would be able to train up for something else. But because of the time it takes, its not worth it to continue playing. Who are you to decide what the "right reasons" for quitting should be?

I see, and did you solo most of the time? See for me, it's not just a type of ship i've specced in getting nerfed, it's my playstyle of soloing. Blobbing = not fun for me.

I have been playing since the game came out in... whenever it was. I have been hit with the nerf bat:
1. in my knee 2. on my head 3. across my frozen fingers 4. in the backside 5. across the fingers (again) 6. in the teeth 7. on the chin (twice in one sitting)
and finally
8. my balls (so many times I have lost count).
My point is this: Change is inevitable. Sure I have whined, and considered giving up the game many times, but I never did. Cross-train, adapt and re-discover.
I know this sounds easy, what with my gazillion skillpoints and all, but it is really that simple. Dont get stuck doing just one ship. Diversify. If a ship, tactic or module gets nerfed, sell it, and move on.
Happy gaming out there.

that pretty much proves what I'm saying, instead of adapting your play style to solo pvp, you simply say the way I solo pvp is now dead therefore solo pvp is dead therefore what I like is dead, therefore the game sucks. In reality however at any of those therefores you could change and break the chain. The game hasn't changed to be not fun anymore, only the way you look at it has.

Nah mate, solo pvp is dead. Webs wont be able to hold your target long enough for them to get back to the gate and jump out. Eve really isn't as hardcore of a pvp game as most people think it is, it's mostly comprised of scaredy cats and the game mechanics cater to them.

As I try to explain, maybe I'm not very good at it, "This" is not why you quit, "This" is a excuse you use, because of the change. Attitude is everything, having the wrong attitude leads you to this answer.

Ppl quit because summat about the game they enjoyed is no longer around, how many threatened to quit or actually did quit because their missiles/drones/guns could not hit pvp fitted ships like they hit NPC rats.
This is the real issue about nerfing aspects of the game, after a while the better players will find ways and means to kill the not so good players. The not so great players will claim "exploit" or "imbalance" but the truth is that the fittings and ships are available to everybody should they choose to train them.

Soloing on a gate = never a viable long term strategy in a team-oriented game.
Solo BS = Since when has this EVER been viable beyond carebear ganking?
Autocannons = Only ever useful on nano ships, badly designed from the outset.
Blasters = See Autocannons.
Nanos = Superfast jerks wrecking the game for EVERYBODY ELSE with their "I win" speed fit. Good riddance.
What else ya got? Because for right now it just looks like you are a nanofag whiner. If that's all, then good riddance. Don't let the airlock door hit you on the way out. Tactical Logistics using the last T1 Frigate hull!

Nope, I'm largely a soloer who wardecs large alliances and catches their members being careless in empire with their pants down. Try again and explain to me why I am not supposed to find that fun.
BTW if you think blasters were ever viable on nano ships, you need to uninstall eve. Blaster range = webdeath for nanoships. you lose.

*shrugs* Account cancelled yesterday. I'll resub only if they fix or major tweak the insane nerf***e they currently have on Sisi.
Reason? The suckage/patience ratio is rapidly becoming a cascading failspin into wtfness.
*In-depth Suckage explanation: Solo dead dead dead, duo/small gang is dying, Blasters nerfed, Cruise nerfed, other missiles nerfed, Shield Tankage nerfed, NH nerfed, Drone nerf, Blobbage boosted bigtime, all things POS and SOV suck, Cyno Jammers, crowded, mega-alliances, incessant mission ner***e, fewer and fewer things a small corp can do and where without getting mashed or absorbed, LowSec blows worse now for a multitude of reasons, unbelievable amount of macroing of all kinds, etc.

MMO doesn't always mean TEAMS it means MULTIPLE REAL PEOPLE, just so happens the guy you are shooting is one of those people. Solo is fine but don't complain when you get killed by a team.

It's only iWin if you are in a terrible alliance with terrible tactics and can't get your head around it, adapt or die is for losers anyway. Cry for things to be fixed by the devs works better.

Way to not answer my question.
I WILL answer yours, however, because I am a man of honor.
There is nothing that says you cannot continue to wardec corps and catch their empire carebear alts off guard. You do NOT need a nano ship or uber webbers to do this. Heck, in most cases you could probably use a freaking RECON ship to do that with! (I know I've pirated in a Lachesis, it's great for that sort of thing, as long as you are not fighting really large enemies)
Basically, you are simply going to have to fit slightly differently, (More tank, but keep the agility and warp speed mods and implants so you can give chase) and perhaps use different guns (450 rails with faction antimatter can do quite a bit of damage at average to close ranges). In other words, you will have to spend some time ADAPTING.
We all have to do it, it's not THAT hard. You are just going to have to wean yourself off of Speed-oriented tactics and take a more balanced and nuanced approach to ganking.
But coming on the forums and threatening to quit;
A) Does NOTHING to change CCP's mind. Seriously, it's a waste of time.
B) Only makes you the target of mockery for being a whiner.
It's time to adapt again. I suggest you get on with it, or gimme your stuff and quit already. Tactical Logistics using the last T1 Frigate hull!

http://kb.etherealdawn.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=16283 LOL it was 3 vs 1 and they were in better fitted ships than you, you expected to win that fight? You need to pick your fights better, no wonder you don't think solo pvp is viable.

It worked for nano whiners, they got their nerf they wanted by whining day after day at how badly they were getting owned. It's worth a shot rather than seeing the game you enjoy go to ****.
Also how can you advocate adapting when you refused to adapt to how nanos worked and fight fire with fire? It's pretty ridiculous.
