Where is EVE TV for FANFEST!!!! we wanna see whats going on @ the top of the world!
This would really be a hard strike onto the community of EvE if CCP dont show videos of whats happening on Fanfest when you have done that before!

They'll show vids. In a couple weeks. We are no longer worth the hassle of live coverage. ____________________

Edited by: Ishina Fel on 07/11/2008 13:14:21 I find it remarkable how all these people who desperately want to know every bit of info from fanfest simply don't read devblogs...
It's been there for over a week prior to Fanfest...

Quote: Once we have recovered from all of that every video will be made available for download within a week or two after the Fanfest.

You want the info now, get on a plane and fly to Iceland. End of story.
It's always been this way. They announce cool stuff there, and if you want to see it first hand before anyone else not attending, you go there to see it. Otherwise, you sit on the sidelines. That's just one of many incentives to go there, but in my opinion not the most important one.

Only... it hasn't. Before you could at least take a small part in FF through the live feeds. Now, we are no longer worth the effort according to CCP.

This seems to be your mantra right now. "We are not worthy, we are not worthy". It's like you're praying to some god or whatever....
Can I have your stuff, since you'll be leaving the game, because you're not worthy?

That was only done for the last two Fanfests, and the full lineup of presentations were never shown live.
I'm also curious about your final sentence. Where, specifically, have they stated that the players are no longer worth the effort?

I wasn't claiming we will get live feeds, and I wasn't even replying to you. Don't make yourself more important than you are, troll. And it might help you if you read the dev responses in the blog comments thread too.
Basically, it is just as Winterblink says. Live experience is a privilege of the attendees; we happened to get it as a bonus the last two years. this time we don't. Instead, we get a recording, which is just as good, if slightly delayed.

Oh come now Winterblink - if we had to base every post on established facts how would anyone ever get any trolling done??

Oh, I'm not going anywhere. It's just a matter of lowering ones expectations. Before we could expect CCP to be a great bunch of guys willing to do that little extra bit for their players. Now we can expect them to be corporate moneyhogs doing the bare minimum required to keep customers paying. ____________________

I still think they're doing that little extra bit every time I walk up to one of them and we start talking about whatever, EVE related or not. That's one thing I like about the FanFest, they show who they really are and you find out pretty fast who is an idiot and who really likes to develop and play this game. I can't recall anyone falling into the former category, but I can easily name 10 Devs that would fall into the latter. I won't, though, as I expect people would think I am crazy (pun intended) for naming this or that person, because he/she did this or that and it was crap or whatever.
Of course we can, and should, expect CCP to act like a proper company, thinking about income and expenses. Live coverage is an expense that will bring little to no increased income. Very very few outside the playerbase will be watching, so no new subscribers to make up for the cost of broadscasting. Those that are REALLY interested in seeing the new stuff, has already dropped everything and flown to Iceland to see it, generating income for the company. Everyone else is merely hoping for the goodies without paying for it.
CCP is not a moneyhogging company doing the bare minimum for their customers. If they were, we would not have this discussion about the lack of coverage from the FanFest. There wouldn't even BE a FanFest to talk about. It would be a game we played, they developed and that was it. No interactions in any way with us players, no test server, no CSM, no forums...

Exactly, no new subscribers = current subscribers aren't worth the effort as we already have their money so who cares right.

You're doing a good job of proving the case that they are.

No, not end of story. There are so many reasons why people can't just drop everything and head off to bloody Iceland. The experience of going there should be enough of an incentive. If you don't go, you should still get the info same time as everyone who has. The general EVE populace shouldn't be treated like 2nd class citizens just because they actually don't have the time to drop everything to go the fanfest.

No you don't. Its party = fest specific. if you are not at the party = no cake (right away). Otherwise what would be the point.
