Edited by: MotherMoon on 08/11/2008 19:36:51 eve fps holy **** wtf awesome
burn in mmorpg "heck" emo whine quiters!
OK so I got a little over excited and didn't even look up anything:P doesn't mean it won't find it's way into the mmorpg as well!
my statement that CCP is insane/awesome still stands.
"game console strategy"
For me this equals pretty awesome. I don't always want to pay for an mmorpg:P SO it'll be awesome to have a more focused game that is one player. Maybe I'm a fanboy of the art style.
p.s.(as long as they never make space combat an fps I will be happy)
edit:oh it seems this is crazykinux's work, thanks for uploading!
And seeing as last year the tank combat and stuff was stated for eve-online, I can se whatever system they are working on to be easily used in eve-online as well. So even if it's not an FPS, whatever they make will hopefully find it's way into eve.
maybe even a paint ball simulator in stations?
:P
edit: thanks for carrying on my original point of eve-online becoming an mmorpg with maybe types of gameplay someday :)

Of course I'm an elitist ****.
but that is WHY I'm excited. It's CCP, they are a very innovative company. I'm sure they will do something no has ever sen, just like they did when they released eve in the 1st place.
Sure it might even suck on some level or maybe it will be wierd to control, but it's CCP, it'll most likely be innovative before it's good :)
oh and I forgot the most important thing CCP focuses on. It will be DAMN pretty.

I play planetside for years, damn will be awesome
Let's not get ahead of ourselves, here... That article describes it as a console game, as in a separate entity, separate game from EVE Online, that happens to be set in the EVE universe.
who cares that would awesome too!!!
they should include it's price into the sub for eve, then you would pay CCP 15$ a month for 2 games!

Originally by: Lithalnas Well if its like planetside just without the rank/skill system that would be fun.
knowing how eve online works it will be a RPG crossbred mostly based on skill and money.
as in eve you grind for isk, not EXP. but in fact they might as well be the same thing.

As much as I love Eve, this is a pretty dumb statement.
Eve is not anything "new", all they did was take games like Tradewars and Privateers and made it into a Modern MMO.
Now, more importantly, any game like this would be ****ed up on so many levels. On the first and most important level so much of Eve history is player driven/created. So, all you've got left is FW on the ground if it's not an MMO.
yeah, your right I'm sorry. I love those old games. I meant MMORPG wise.
Another example is the way they pushed graphics(or have half pushed it) sure other games had and have better graphics than trinity. But other mmorpgs don't, no one wants to do what CCP is doing because it's... not wow? not easy to make money with? I don't know.
Only CCP had the balls to do something that should of died a quiet unheard death.

Well in terms of that, yea it is "new" but its with quotes. THe main problem is if it is console it is not something I'd have high expectations of.
quoting so CCP thinks really hard about what they are doing.
even they are seperate, as you said some sort of connection would be interesting.
Kind goes back to a wierd idea I posted a long time ago in which when you start an eve character you could pick pilot or other. Maybe some how get 3 in there? Then you would log in as a pilot for space stuff, but if you log in as a troop, or fighter pilot special forces, you get to play a completly different game that ties in and effects the other.
edit:spell check broken.

I highly disagree. There is little need to 'grind' ISK in EVE, and there is a *vast* difference between EVE skill system (which rocks, is bloody awesome, so on) and most other MMOs.
The only people experiencing 'the ISK grind' are mission farmers, and they don't get EVE to begin with.
hey we all have to grind isk to get more ships for PvP. but your right my example is fundmentaly flawed.
and yes as someone with a 13 work day I love the skill system :)

Originally by: Minsc My personal vision of one thing they could do to tie the two games together would be this:
Based on factional warefare stats in the MMO, new battlegrounds open or close on the map in the fps game. FPS players are not Capsuleer's but just normal grunts and they create a character for whatever faction they wish to fight for (or have the possiility to join player corporations and fight for whatever faction they are signed up with). Then based on whichever faction's fps players with that particular battleground that faction would take control of that particular planet.
This would allow the two different games to interact with each other and would allow the fps players to have some small effect on the MMO world without making it too drastic of a change. Thereby both MMO players and FPS players get to play the gametype they prefer and still are able to affect the universe as a whole in some way.
This is just my what-if idea of how it could work though...we'll see if they share it or not. Either way I'm looking forward to anything that takes place in the EVE universe connected or not.
maybe this could tie into my idea and thus give reason to having three character slots?

eve FPS ... it will probably take about 12 years till its done , too early to get all excited ...
think of it like the atmospheric flight vid , CCP likes to throw this stuff at us ,and then ignoring it for the next ?? years ...
edit : and just not to sound too harsh ill add that i hope i'm wrong on this . (but tbh i doubt it )
funny thing I've ben moving on to TF2 and mass effect and so forth, then stupid CCP drag me back in kicking and screaming.
