From the patch notes:
"All modules that are not size classed in Power requirement have been set to 1. This will ease fitting these modules on Frigates."
Can someone please clarify this for me?

Webs, warp scramblers, and similar stuffs have 1MW powergrid usage instead of 4, 5, 10 etc.

Cool. I find this a much better alternative to the idea of making lots of different frig, cruiser, etc. sized stuff. Remember, grid is not the only limiting factor, CPU is really a great equalizer amongst the classes and the mods in question tend to eat up the CPU. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

I'm not sure if I like it.
While some things were not explicitly "for larger ships", say 10 power items were a real sacrifice for frigates to mount.

But what were they gaining for that sacrifice? Five grid for a damage mod doesn't bother a battleship, but its prohibitive when 5 is 20% of your total powergrid

But what were they gaining for that sacrifice? Previous state favored battleships over all. Or is the "loss" of a slot not enough of a price these days?

Hopefully they will make battleship sized webbers, cruiser sized webbers ect.. A frig being able to slow a battleship to nil is just not right because a battleships engines are putting out alot more power then a frig does.

Semi-trucks use the same braking system as the smallest lightest car.

Except much much bigger. I'm not suggesting that frigates be unable to web BSes but Venril does have a point from a "realism" perspective.

Your smallest, lightest car uses air-brakes? Wow. That's got to be hell running the air compressor on that little car.
Semi-trucks do NOT use the same braking system as the smallest, lightest car. Use another analogy.

True, but a Semis brakes are much easier to interrupt being electrical and all. Everything has a weak point.
Personally I think the MW used should be directly tied to the range of operation of the module period. Its just silly to have a module that works for 10k use the same power as one that works for 20k. But rangeless modules certainly can use the same 1mw. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

actually, the concept IS the same. one uses compressed air to activate the breaking mechanism, the other uses liquid. the working mechanics of applying pressure between two surfaces to create friction to slow down the vehicle do not change. sizes and stuff do change, but not the application...
oh, and it would be easier to stop a BS with a stasis-web than a frig. mass is the factor here...
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

We're talking total system here. It's not an apt analogy. The entire system changes because the momentum and masses involved are hugely different.
And I think a stasis-web wouldn't stop a BB more easily. A battleship (BB) has significantly more momentum to counteract than a smaller ship. A BB traveling at 100m/s has more momentum than a frigate travelling at 600m/s.
