For missions I use 5 HH II's and a web drone. Used to be able to web frigs that come within 10Km to under 10 m/s then be able to shoot them however you cannot anymore. Would use the web drone so I could shoot cruisers that come under 20Km. HH II's dont track well enough to shoot frigs so this make me SOL. Seems I either have to ditch the web drone and go for Hobgoblins and not be able to shoot cruisers or sit in a mission until someone comes to the rescue. This sucks! Either way its gonna take alot more time to complete missions. My sig. |

oh no you'll have to fit a web in mids... or maybe smarter move would be to load some lights into your dronebay.

Thought they were killing laser turrets being able to shoot outside of their falloff but I don't see it in the patch notes anymore. May work. My sig. |

Why would he use target painter drones?
Honestly, The info in this thread is terrible. Fit a web, and use light drones.
Paladin web + light drones = dead frigs
The web isn't even needed really, and I'm glad a BS has next to no chance of hitting a frig now, even if webbed.

Imagine you TP your target by 100% (which stacking nerfed TP drones won't do ever).
Now, that gives you a flat 100% tracking boost, or now you track at 200%. Now imagine the old webber. Over the new one, on a paladin, it gives you a 900% tracking boost - or, rather, you now track at 1000%. Ehem.
It cannot be compensated for. And with medium drones nerfed, he should be packing lights for frigates, or packing dual webs.

Neither can my Kronos.
The Marauders, when they first came out was adorned with +2% web effect per level... well, this meant my Kronos had a web that would have a 99% reduction to speed on the target.
To counter such an effect (which is by far better than a Rapier for instant speed reduction) being abused in PvP the Marauders were easy to Jam and took forever to lock anything.
With the patch and all the controversy of the speed and nanos... I fail to understand why CCP didn't think of just unleashing the Marauders (boosting their sensor strength etc.). Why? Because not one zippy fast ship ever dared get too close to my Kronos with a -99% speed reduction on just one webber. No one ever dared get within 15KM in fear that I might have had a Domination Webbifier...
But, instead, they reduced, or simply scaled back everything. The Marauders were adversly affected that's why the Kronos and the Paladin had their bonus modified to 10% web reduction per level.
But, 90% is no where near the same as 99% (afterall, 90% web was the norm before the nerf, and it didn't do much good did it?) and thus the Marauders lost their ability to maintain their roles regardless if it's a PvE Mission or PvP. They are unable to slow a target down enough.
The Kronos and the Paladin need a better web bonus, maybe 12% per level, get it back up to 99%.

Webs need to get to 80% to start with. If you fit dual webs, you should slow down people, and slow them down effectively. But you still need a bloody scrambler, because dual 60% webs are rubbish.

Hitting frigs with large guns is wrong, even in a marauder. Dont waste your DPS killing that ridicolous ships. Just fire cruiser and bigger hulls and let your 5x hammerhead kill all frigs around.
edit: HH2 are fine.. if you dont like it you can alway use light drones.

Have you tried using 5 hammerheads and not webbing them? Heavy (and now medium I guess) drones have always had problems hitting when they are orbiting small targets.
Take the web off the target and the drones are chasing them and have a much lower transversal.

I use a navy mega and i have not any problem using hammerheads. EVE is plenty of people doing L4 missions in "non marauder" ships, and all of them use drones, so i dont see why marauder users pretend to hit frigates with large ( and long range) turrets. Since now was possible, but its not the only or imho the best solution.
Medium drones can kill almost everything. Have some problems on some frigates ( read: they are slow to kill, but with enough time they kill everything), but nothing prevent you to carry also 5x lights.
Another thing, as the previous guy said: drones hit better if npc are NOT webbed ( they are faster, so drones follow, and trasversal is reduced).

This is something I have definitely noticed. If I webbed the frigates orbiting me, my drones took longer to kill it. I used to use Hammerhead IIs for everything, now I'll just use some Hobgoblin IIs for the fast frigates. PvE is not rocket surgery. ------------ Improvize. Adapt. Overcome.

Marauders were advertised by the devs as ships that can hit frigs with large turrets.
So they should increase the web bonus so it's back at 99%, or give an extra tracking bonus. ---

Funny thing is if your drones are slow enough to just be able to keep up with the frigs you get the best results. That can be heavy drones if your heavies can keep up and it will be a slaughter.

or since you're running missions why not use 2 webs and med drones it's not like the frigs will be moving very fast when they have 2 bonused webs on them oh and if you're still stuck fly away from the webbed frigs transversal of 0 means you're hitting every time... or ofcause you could web them with your 2 bonused webs and set light drones on them or you could fit beams and pop them from 100km away or you could get an alt in a frig to pop them for you or you could just stop doing missions and spin your ship around in the hanger saying "oh look it so pretty"

I don't even use webs at all on my Paladin.
Frigs are easy to hit when they're coming at you, from 15-20km+. One shot one kill, pretty much. The ones that do slip through that net get taken care of by my drones pretty easy, and i can tank them good enough, obviously.
I still have to find a level 4 mission which gives me trouble. I can coast through killing only the battleships with my tachs, and leaving the rest to my drones on single target mode. No idea why people keep whining about this nerf.

If you go read the dev blog about marauders, you'll see that they were indeed advertised as being able to kill frigs with their main weapons.
And it's just common sense to come to that conclusion: what do you thing the web/explo velocity/target painting bonus was for in the first place?
So you have a dev contradicting previous statements and design, and nerfing to hell something that wasn't even generating complaints in this forum.
now CCP should have a coherent design regarding marauders, and either putting webs on them back to 99%, or dropping the web bonus entirely and replacing it by something that will actually be usefull... ------------------------------------------

Why is it when people talk Paladin, they always talk about Tachs?
3x Ammar Navy HS 4x Megapulse II 4x Scorch Crystals = 730 dps at 45 km with roughly 150% better tracking than Tachs. 4x Ammar Navy Multifreq Crystals = 950 dps at 17km.
What more do you really need? You dont need a web to hit anything inside 15km (save for frigs, but that is what light drones are for).

I'm not sure what you and I did differently, but when I ran a mission last night, specifically to test the new damage output of cruise missiles vs. frigs, and to test how medium drones performed against frigates, my medium drones usually took out the frigates in 2 or 3 volleys. 1 frig repped a bit, and it took a 4th volley from the drones.
My conclusion was that medium drones will still sufficiently face**** mission frigates.
Did anyone else test this aspect specifically, and come up with different results? I was fighting blood raiders in my mission.

Like others have said, stop trying to shoot the frigs and let your drones do the work. If your freshly-nerfed hammers can't do it, your skills are lacking. If that's the case, I suggest dropping the web for an omnilink and you can continue to use your precious hammers.
And lose the web drone, it was pointless before and it is moreso now.
