I honestly say that.
Having almost all lvl 5 with torp raven, using javelin torps (to avoid approaching...) and a target painting, anything smaller than a BS takes ages to be killed, unlike before that was a matter of 2-3 salvos at max.
Its extreeeemely slow to rat now with torps, are cruise any better?

Why don't you use target painters, warp in points, drones, smartbombs and more importantly chain your rats? |

I chain my spawns, and i use target painter (as i already wrote)
However you dont chain ALL spawns, you chain only BS over lets say 800K bounty. Cruiser spawns (especially dire) take forever, and i am not talking about jamming ofcourse. |

Well, that's why I suggested target painterS. And worst comes to worst, leave the dire spawns alone, chain a couple of other belts. Or go there in a nh or whatnot, clear them, return in your torp raven? |

No matter how many skill you have, how hard you try, ratting wont be the same. You will experience a 20% dps loss on bs rats, and more - much more on smaller targets even with TP, rigs, whatever. (At least this is my experience.)

I haven't tried it yet. But, what if you fit Warhead Flare Catalyst and Warhead Rigor Catalyst Rigs now? I'm not sure which one yields better results, but I suppose 2 Warhead Rigor Catalyst or even 3, add that painter and probably even a few target painting drones. Now you should be able to handle cruisers with your main weapon system. |

today I learned that NH > raven.
clearing a lvl4 blockade mission even faster than pre-QR in a raven has shown me that.

I don't see anyone rat with blasters, why should you rat with your close-range weapon?

Since QR I've found that a Drake rats MUCH faster than a Raven. It takes a little longer to kill the BS spawns but it will alpha pop most of the frigates. And when you're spending so much time setting up chains and 'cleaning' belts while ratting...the HML IIs make sense. Once chains are all set up you can switch to a Raven. But again, I've found the shorter align time still makes a Drake faster.
IMO, the best ratting ship now is a HAM Cerb. With Rigs, Terror Rage Assault Missiles will hit out to 40KM, doing 472DPS with my skills (over 500DPS with better fitting/skills). Without faction mods, tank can be an issue. The kicker is when the Cerb aligns in a little over 6 seconds and has a high scan res.
edit: And if you are faction spawn hunting(not chaining), the Raven is probably the 4th best ship...

I had a nice Torp-Raven setup for ratting against angels. Nothing like 850dps, and being able to perma-tank all the spawns. It will be missed.
Is the Drake/Cerb/Nighthawk performance with or without target painters? Would like to get back to being able to use my pve alt for that purpose as quick as possible (0 SP in cruise).
Is a HAM Drake a viable alternative to a cerb while training for a cerb? Or should I just suck it up and wait an extra 2 weeks to train HAM after moving for a cerb? (Nighthawk would be ship of choice, but its about 5 months away) |

Eh? More like the best ratting ship now is something that does not use missiles. Most likely Dominix/Ishtar, or of course a laserboat for Blood/Sansha.
472 dps and good don't fit in the same sentence. Ratting with less than 600 dps is wasting time, not earning money.
And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...
