For me the most interesting announcement in the patch notes were the technical improvements for EVE resulting in "reduced network latency and improved performance in high-volume situations, e.g., in fleet-fights and market hubs such as Jita". Regarding this matter I am disappointed so far.
Now I am interested how lag with Quantum Rise feels for other players. Maybe I am the only one noticing less smooth playing than pre-patch. (I am hearing quite contradictionary opinions.) But this poll is intended to find that out and perhaps either to compliment CCP or to bring an issue to CCP's attention on a more statistical significant basis.
Question: Do you notice an improvement regarding the "lag problem" since Quantum Rise deployment or not? Does playing EVE "feel" smoother than before or not?
[ ] Yes, it is much better than before. [ ] Yes, I notice a little improvement. [ ] I don't notice any change. [ ] No, it is a bit worse the before. [ ] No, it is much worse than before.
Please, only evaluate THIS aspect of the patch, not any other changes (like missiles, speed, weapon grouping, and so on) when you put your X. Detailled remarks are welcome too.
I'll start with my own experience:
[ ] Yes, it is much better than before. [ ] Yes, I notice a little improvement. [ ] I don't notice any change. [ ] No, it is a bit worse the before. [X] No, it is much worse than before.

EVE always has problems after expansion deployment. Ask the question in a few weeks, if you want to make actual comparisons.

Though as theabove post says theres still hope that ccp is working to fix this and its just a patch hicup.

Lag is not a problem (more than usual). Constant memory leak is the problem, much much more than before. |

and how many of you guys have been up in tribute or vale or an equivalent large 0.0 battle, coz i noticed some improvement, not massive but good chance of it getting better as expansion comes through and the strain of updates diminishes. |

This poll ignores the big gaping memory leak currently plaguing EVE and is therefore not representative of the actual functioning lag situation the server can provide. Thank you.

Since directly before QR? about the same
Since stacklessIO and EVE64 implementation way before QR, holycrap upgrade. Jita local sits at 830, there's no lag in-station and loading in

The 3 replies following this are all made by ******s, and you know it.
This is beyond the normal scope of post patch lag, or your not undocking, and just don't realize it.
Its abysmal, to the point of undoing EVERYTHING they've done in the past 4 months.

Edited by: Captain Thunk on 15/11/2008 16:13:41 In empire I get graphical lag - things like client freeze when doing an action, such as changing window focus. Extended stargate jumpgate times although not every jump. Some jumps result in me no longer seeing my own ship and stargates and stations become just beacons, no model - though I seem to see other ships fine. In terms of "background lag" in empire, it seems to be the same as before - a second or two module lag etc... though it can be hard to be sure ontop of the other problems
The graphical lag gets worse over time, until the point it's an exercise in frustration to perform any action at all.
As for Jita system, I've had deja vu warping with numbers between 450-500 in local. Another problem that seems to be new and easily found in Jita is some form of desynch - where you can't perform an action because you're warping or something - even though you finished the warp a minute or two ago.

I do not have any more or less lag than before tbh. still get the error when i jump sometimes, buts thats my graphics card's fault not eve's.
I have yet to be involved in a fight above 50.

It got a bit better (****loads of improvement for Jita) when they introduced the new server technologies, but it got much worse again after the expansion. |

The UI feels a little slower now than it was before the patch. |

Detailed remark: THIS aspect of the patch was deployed more than a month ago. Any difference (positive or negative) in performance before and after the QR deployment this week has nothing to do with it. |

Forget my relation to the patch notes. (At least they suggested that 64bit and StacklessIO is part of the expansion.) Question is only whether the game feels smoother after patch or not. It's not our final task to find out the reasons (server network improved or not, memory leak or not, new stargates, or whatever). Goal is only to collect opinions because I am not sure that CCP is aware enough of a deterioration of playing performance.

Edited by: An Anarchyyt on 15/11/2008 16:59:06 I am having a tad bit more graphical lag. Nothing serious. But as far as server lag, it is much better in terms of large fights.

Yes, it is "part" of the patch. However, it was deployed before it. And was around before Tuesday. So anything you are seeing is related to something else in the patch.
And, if you're not sure they are aware, that is what bug reports are for.

The new stuff is good, but.
There is an actual problem/bug that is, over time, causing laggy crapp client.
You have to relog quite often to stay ahead of it. Do NOT even think about stacking weapons, really bad things happen.
FIX IT ccp
Once the issue is resolved, it will be nice.
I just did a 550 local fight for 3 hours yesterday and it was manageable. I relogged as often as I could.

I'm having really bad performance issues after client has been running a while restarting it works, but having todo this to multiple clients and when they are in gangs is a chore but I have faith they will get this problem fixed as I seen similar situations in past.
