I'm not changing from Windows to Ubuntu only because of the Memory leak thing. Because that's gonna get fixed soonÖ anyways.
But the lag will still be in EVE whatever OS you use. |

I use VMS and PrimeOS, and I experience no lag. Might be because I am using X.25 and not TCP/IP.

Take the fight we was about to have earlier today. The fight went no where because everyone was lagging very badly. And it ended up by warping out and just forget to fight in the lag.
I don't think the X.25 would help at all there tbh. |

If you were on Telepac, it would help.

Don't think so, because it was not only we that was lagging badly at that time. Lots of players in low sec space was also having lots of lag, so it was something with the server.
And when it's something with the server, then it doesn't help to have TCP/IP or X.25 or Telepac or any others. It will lag anyways then.

Meh - ofc there are issues - there are every single time CCP puts out a new expansion. They also tend to have them pretty much sorted within a few a weeks as well. Cut 'em some slack for trying at least.
Oh and to NightmareX and that other boofhead:

Two days ago we had cap fight with aprox 200 vs 200. I didnt have any lag, could use fighters, could target, etc .... with no delay. After about 30 min, when i lost my ship couldnt do anything with pod. I reloged and was able to relog imediatly and then everything was fine again.
For what i see is a big improvement ;)
p.s. sorry for my english, i was in doom too :P |

the new, improved (TM) client obviously has issues, after running for a while it begins to stutter as it was running on a 10 year old computer, no matter how many people is in local and what happens.
Patch coming soon I hope... |

Last time there was DD nearby i didnt even get to see white. Guess had to miss that one frame in my "one frame per 30 seconds" gameplay... Restarting game fixed it for next 15 minutes :)
Btw: QR also brought new forum bugs. Took me only 15 clicks on "reply" to actually write this.
Also clicking "post reply" just ate my post - good i can go back one page and click again.

Several people myself included have experienced much more lag loading systems with weapons grouped together.
Ive had terrible lag since QR with 3-4 minute delays in modules during some smallish fights and had a fight where an enemy fleet warped to us and 90% of our fleet just had our screens freeze up for the entire fight. I was there for 10 minutes before I decided to relog and then found I had died 5 minutes ago.
Even in missioning systems where Ive had no lag before Im getting a shed load of lag now.

This game is no longer a beta release.. it is now alpha.
Carebears cannot even mine or plex without horrible lag so they better fix it or they'll have lots of customers unsubscribing!

Just chucking an ironic 1+1=2 together here.
But isnt it interesting that on the release of QR where suddenly we have major clientside lag, CCP remove the shift-ctrl-alt-m monitoring tool for clientside monitoring
so yeh heres to the 1000 vs 1000 battles that CCP have been promoting with the stackless and other (inc QR) upgrades.
and heres to the inability to prove using their tools that atm, its all gone completely **** up |

We should know that currently eve is a two-classes game. The upper classes gets their system moved to the new eve64 servers (like jita, and i suppose /^[mo]-o/ too, and one of the carebears system) and the lower class that gets the crappy rest and has to live in the laggy world without beeing able to fight, move, win, lose or even die.
We'll see when ccp fixes their new lag problem of QR or upgrade more servers to counter their memory leaks |

the problem is that weapon grouping couse yet worse memory leak and also models are starting to disapear with new gate models in local ...

Linux client is crap. I have Fedora on another partition and it runs QR fine - but I'm not going to play eve with classic content with all this sweet hardware. My PC can normally handle several hundreds in system running Premium content without turning off any effects. Sure there's normal lag, which was greatly reduced with Stackless IO. It was great for a few days. Then came QR, and now I can't even run a plex without the eve client eventually consuming a gig of RAM. This has nothing to do with Stackless or my Windows configuration, it's all in the updated client.
I'm not so sure it's the grouping system, I'm more inclined to believe it's the activation timers that fall out of sync and don't work very well.

Pretty sure the lag situation is the same as always now. Meaning, if you're lucky and you're in a relatively load free node you're ok.
However, the memory leak issue is back with a vengeance. Client freezes for several seconds constantly. (I hate losing ships like that ) |

have you actually got a clue what your talking about? |
