My idea is simple, take EFT or the Propulsion Upgrades sub-menus and apply it to every menu. Instead of giving a broad spectrum of 'Armor Plates' give options such as 100mm, 1600mm, 800mm, etc. Instead of just general 'Armor Hardeners' classify it by the type of damage they harden against. And so on and so forth. This way instead of querying 100 items per say, you will only query 20 or something. It may not seem like much, but it will speed up the market and multiply it by 700 or something and I could see it greatly reducing lag in trade hubs.
Also the benefit to being able to find something your looking for without scrolling down a long list of nothing would be a plus.
What do you think?

Ugh, I hate going through the armor listing the way it is now. I'm totally behind this. |

So basically, items are only grouped together if they are all in each others variations tab ?
Not sure how much it will reduce lag, but it will make it easier to buy things. So: /signed.
I'd also suggest sorting the items by meta level within each group. |

Meta level would sound good, and I believe it would reduce lag because if you have 400 people trying to query all the armor plates or something they would be receiving information for them all whereas with this they would only be getting the information for a fifth. On a small scale it might not do much, but in a large scale situation I believe there would be a definite improvement. |

I'm not actually supporting this for the lag reduction, which might be too small to be noticed. But it would make things more convenient for me.
What I am thinking of is things like the blaster groups where alphabetical order leaves electrons/ions/neutrons of the same meta level grouped together, with the meta levels out of order.
Or the hull upgrades section which groups cargo expanders, nanofibers and reinforced bulkheads together making a good 2/3 of the modules there completely useless when I know what I am looking for.
Then we have damage controls, where there are two groups: - Damage control 1, and its variants. - Basic Damage control, and its variants. All of which have lower skill reqs than the other group, but are also much weaker. ---------------------------------------------- I support skill queues. |
