Edited by: Boon McBwen on 18/11/2008 00:41:00 Now that some PC manufacturers have started incorporating more advanced vid systems on their motherboards, i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of these units, and specifically the NVIDIA GeForce 7100 Integrated Graphics system. If anyone has, can you tell me how well EVE runs on it and if you have sufficient RAM, will premium graphics run on it? I am considering a new HP desktop with this card on board. I would appreciate any feedback, thanks. |

I have a older motherboard that I purchased with a higher-end intel video chipset onboard (probably 1.5y old now). The computer was happy to run 3-4 classic clients, but I found that eve-online would reject running premium saying the card wasnt up to spec.. I put in a lower-quality NV card and it allowed me to run premium..
I would say that you are fine to use it as a stopgap, but you want a onboard video chipset that will mimick a mainstream standalone card. Most of the motherboards these days simply connect the onboard video card directly to the pci-express bus giving you what's essentially a pci-express video card. Your best bet is to peg some HP based forums and see if anyone on them has a similar setup and can play eve.
I THINK the GeForce 7100 is quite **** and your best moving to something like the 780g/780v boards. If your not going for SFF then I would save the money from buying a integrated unit and get a stand alone card! |

Look for information on nHancer. I use this on my laptop and it significantly improves the performance of my nVidia card. I am usually suspicious of aftermarket stuff like this but get it set up properly & I cant recommend it highly enough.

Boon, post the specifications of the PC you intend to buy or the name of the PC from HP. Also say how much you have to spend on a new PC as that will help a lot, then we can advice you better. Farjung is my God
