Don't need any extra energy for that; any competent gymnast could pull those stunts off if they worked on a springy mattress. At the Olympics, they have to produce their own bounce; the floor's just a floor. |

not that impressive tbh, the floor is springy, and many of them just ain't pulling off the clean controlled finish you'd expect of olympic standards :P |

Perhaps, but what would you rather watch; some boring 12 yearold who makes all kinds of 'dance' moves to some crappy music, gets to the corner of the square and does 2 flips? Or this?
'sport' is only a business since people are willing to watch it, while I do appreciate the effort and talent some people have at jumping really far/high or doing some flips in an art-like fashion to some music, if I watch something I do it because it's either interesting or entertaining. And sports certainly isn't interesting.

As someone that trains athletes for speed, power, and agility, taking into account the extra springy track, and the not so clean landings, I find this very entertaining and I think that this could easily compliment the floor routines. I was also somewhat impressed with the individuals ability to generate that much momentum and stay so close to the centre of the track. As people get really comfortable participating in this event I bet you will see some pretty spectacular gone wrong videos with the addition of more twists into the middle of the routines.
