Hi guys and gals,
I want to buy/train a toon that will help fund my loss mails, something that wont take much time or brainwork. PI really rubs me up the wrong way, so I don't want to do that. Does anybody have any suggestions? Maybe research? I don't really have a clue about that though, so would have to learn.

Play the market. Buy low sell high in another region, easiest way to make isk. There are many guides out there to help you. Do a google search. |

Thanks, but that's not really passive. I've never really done much market trading, but i imagine it takes a lot of time researching what's worth what and where, then hauling it about. |

Other then PI theres really no other "passive" income worth doing. Research is not really worth it due to the amount of research alts there are. Usually trying to sell BPCs aren't worth it and researched BPOs generally don't go for much higher then buying them from a NPC. The only real research that is profitable is doing super/cap packs which has a very large initial cost and will take a very long time to profit from.
You could always stick a alt(with decent trade skills) in Jita and do margin trading. You never have to leave station and just buy low using buy orders and sell high. It doesn't take much time do research and really just need to log on a couple times a day to update orders. Granted the more you update and research the better your profits are going to be.

I haven't heard of any passive source of revenue, other than being a corp leader, that's entirely passive. You want money, you work. "No really, I have virtually NO idea what I am doing here" -á-Me, at any given time i'm asked what I want to do in EVE |

Corp leaders usually don't make much isk and its nowhere near passive. Though I guess it depends on the corp. Datacores is the only REAL passive income, but it does require some initial work(standings). Even still its not a lot of isk unless you use all chars slots on account to do them. |

Income from Research agents is passive, but also so low that in my opinion not worth the time to train the skills and get the standing required to use them.
According to Profitability of R&D Agents, there are currently 5 R&D agents with 19 mil ISK / Month profit (with max skills). Other agents are worse. You can use up to 6 R&D agents per char and profit can be doubled by doing single mission per agent each day.

Yeah. Play the market. Net 500 ISK from a shipment that's 75k m. All you need is the ship! Ever see a picture of Twiggy's bustline? Right, it looks just like EVE's market. |

Seconded.
There's already too many research agents in activity compared to market needs, so the datacore price keep falling and falling. I remember a time where you could expect your datacore to sell for an average 400-600k unit. Now you're lucky if you get 200k for one.
I have 30 R&D agents from back then, but I wouldn't go through the effort of doing that today. It's not worth it anymore. |

Trade implants, then you can haul in a frigate. Buy in Jita then sell in any trade hub. Log in once a day to change orders. Very easy isk. |

Unless you get aggressive competitor ... It feels so nice when you have competitor who updates prices only once a day, and then you manage to update just few minutes after him.
In trading just a single competitor can destroy all your profit. But if you can find your niche where competition isn't too bad, it can be very lucrative. Carebear -á* -áTrader -á* -áPerfect Music-á-á* -áNever Scamming -á* -áNever Pirating |

http://www.hb3.info/cosmos/complexe/plex_otomainen_cgop.html Kill Tadaki. Put your ship on his respawn place. Unleash the sentries. Go afk. ?????? PROFIT
I heard this considered as legal afk farming mechanic by CCP for years (or as always they are too lazy to fix this)

It takes 28 minutes (afk) to mine a load of ice in a mackinaw, and about 2 minutes to unload and warp back. The income is crap, but you'll make a few mil an hour doing nothing. 4 minutes an hour is about as passive as you can get.

There's always those player owned banks which pay interest for investment. That's pretty passive. Also pretty risky.
Also bots are pretty passive and widely tolerated*. You just might to have to sell your alt every other month and buy a new one.

To me, R&D agents are really only worth it if you actually use your datacores for invention or trade them for the ones you need for invention. Otherwise, you find yourself making very little profit considering the time required to fly all over the universe to pick them up, sell them, etc. And of course, you have to have the standings required to make it happen in the first place. Unless you have a well established industrial toon that's got the standings in place (for most that means a lot of missions to get the standing), it's not worth it IMO.
Other than market and margin trading, there's not really much in terms of passive income. The closest you'll get is PI, and it's semi-passive at best. It all depends on your location (Empire is worthless except for a noob, low sec is ok at best, 0.0 is good, WH are best). And how much you make depends on how much work you put into it. It can be pretty effort free requiring only a couple of hours a week of work, or you can go intensive. Your isk will depend on how much effort you put in, and your location.
One option with PI is to NOT harvest, which is the slow, boring part. Simply buy P1 materials at a market hub via buy orders, haul them to a nearby planet and run the factories to product P2, P3 and P4 materials that are worth big isk. Relatively speaking, that requires only modest training and minimal work. If you want, you can go right out and build sov structures and POS towers and modules and make a pretty decent living, particuarly if you have the means to move your product near a 0.0 access point.
Another option is to train a PI toon to fly an Itty 5, get decent probing skills, and cloaking. Find a C3 or better WH with a high sec static. Go in with a probe ship, and scout out the planets. Then get your command centers, set up your Itty with a probe launcher and cloak, and dive into the WH. Set up your planets, and log off and let it run its course. Log in at the proper intervals for your extractors to reset them (you can set this for a few days to keep the work minimal) and when you have a full load, pick up your goods, scan out the exit, drop off your goods at the nearest high sec station for your main to pick up and bring to market for you. Return to your WH, log off, rinse, repeat.
As far as "passive" income, those 2 options are really the closest I could ever find to do in Eve. |
