Edited by: Einsteina TX on 20/11/2008 17:12:59 I went looking for reactions to see if I could evaluate/contemplate doing some of the new Alchemy reaction.
I did find the Unrefined reaction. If I take for example the Unrefined Neo Mercurite reaction, it state 100 units of platinum and 100 units of mercury to produce 1 unit of unrefined neo mercurite.
[ notice the diffence between the announced 100 unit production of unrefine stuff but here is not the issue ]
the issues is, where is the refining reaction ?
I've looked through the market looking for it and I could not find it. Was it supposed to be in Quantum Rise? Does it has a weird name ?
Thanks in advance for any input. Sig removed, inappropriate content. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Mitnal |

Don't you just reprocess it in a station as you would with any other item? --- Can't afford that BPO? Look here. 20:1 mineral compression The EVE f@h team |

Correct.
No special reaction needed. You take the Unrefined Product to a station and use the refinery.
It will return you the refined product and some of the 'Alchemy' Moon Mineral.

The numbers are a bit difficult to accept, however.
24 max "Unrefined" units per day from a reactor yeild, with perfect skills and standings at a NPC Station, 240 units of the "Real Deal". That's 2 hours runtime towards a complex reaction. Hardly worth the time, frankly. I would prefer it a lot more if they ( CCP ) were to up the consumption in order to output a meaningful net amount.
Just my 2 cents.

Hardly worth the time depending on your goal. If your goal is volume of product then yes, it's not worth the effort. If your goal is profit, then it *could* be worth it. Unfortunately last I checked (which was a fair while ago, should check again) the alchemy materials were manipulated to a completely unsustainable point where they were actually destroying their own market potential. |

Cadmium is returned to more sustenaible prices (1500-2000).
What is interesting is that, with "alchemy" rections, it is possible to compress the raw R16 materials a factor of 100. This is because the description say 1 unit of unrefined is 1 m3. If this is true, this could make unrefined intermediate materials very interesting from a logistic point of with.

Has anyone got any numbers on this as I have just done a quick calculation and it doesn't look like it profitable ? It looks like its cheaper to buy the end product off the market.
Is anyone actually doing this at the moment and making a success of it ? |

Prices usually drag at least one week (sometimes even as much as two weeks) per reaction/construction level behind the previous level's prices. So if cadmium goes up, you need a week or longer for simple reaction prices that include cadmium to spike (up to almost 2 weeks), two weeks or longer for complex reaction prices that contain cadmium-based simple reactions to spike (up to almost a month), and almost 3 to 5 weeks for T2 component prices to do the same... although each additional level also spikes less and less percentually (so, say, cadmium spikes at *3 price and all others remain constant, cadmium simple reactions don't spike to *2 price but rather to around *1.8 or so at most) due to fuel costs.
P.S. So, what I was trying to say, "working at a loss" is the usual MO in reactions - you have to sit on your stockpile long enough for the "moon minerals I mine locally are worthless when used in reactions" people's stocks to finish selling. Expect alchemy reactions (well, only the cadmium reaction, actually) to start becoming profitable some time early next year only, not before then.

What I was trying to get at was figuring out whether it was cheaper to buy the raw moon minerals and do the new reactions or buy the end product off the market. I am sure there are some people out there that have worked out these calculations. |
