I've been playing around with the character creator and I wanted to change the height of a character.
I want her to be short.
Maybe not world record short, but definitely in the running for a casting call as an Ewok.
And I don't think I can.
Made me think. Isn't that a bit wrong? Shouldn't there be some kind of option for people wanting to recreate their real life physical appearance in game?
I've been trying to get my mother into EVE as she is a bit of a game nut and I think the slow drone of mining lasers would be just the thing for her.
As a surprise I was going to create a character that looked like her. Now that's OK, but she's very short. Just around four feet. I think it would bean insult to make a tall character give the pride she has in getting by in a tall world as a little person.
So why are CCP discriminating against little people like this?

No discrimination. Its unfinished.
What we see is a testbed. CCP was testing the engine for the characters. That's been put on ice, so any possibilities of changing heights at all are frozen as well.
I would love to be able to shrink my character by 4 inches. Then she would be the same as me. |

Go and try Skyrim's character creator, you can't even alter anything on the body just the head. Eve's character creator is probably one of the best in the gaming world, certainly the best I've seen. So by your reckoning Bethesda (Skyrim) are discriminating against short, tall and overweight people. |

Not used the console command, even so compared to EVE's it's still pretty basic.
Without using the console command there are two adjustable features skin tone and weight, but the weight is just basic direct scaling to simulate more or less muscle. Real basic stuff. |

How tall are capsuleers anyway?
Pretty sure someone who attended the avatar discussion at Fanfest said that there were animation conflicts with different heights, which explains why the option isn't available. |

This is the first time I see anyone trying to get their own mom to go join Eve Online. A game where the **** and pillage are plenty and the lube always in short supply. Welcome to Eve Online. Don't expect people to be nice to you. |

Drives my old man nuts always banging on about how her gaming rig sucks demanding upgrades. He reckons she's worse then a teenager.
Yeah, I suspect she has enough life experience of knowing BS when she sees it to survive.
Why CCP feels they need to put us in little boxes and stereotypes in this game is like some weird form of eugenics.

I feel your pain. I would like to make my characters fatter. I'm not interested in just making a stupid weird looking avatar, like some people. I want fat and height to actually be options. I want to make a more realistic character that's all.
Just as an example, my avatar here is as fat as it gets.
But, we can't always get what we want, I guess. |

You know, "short" and "tall" are pretty relative when dealing with people living twenty thousand years in the future. Humanity almost doubled its average height since the days of ancient Rome; short people in the age of EVE would probably be something like fifteen meters. It would certainly explain Einherji fighters.
EVE's character creator is great, but indeed does not allow for "less than optimal" body-type builds. However, there are some games coming out soon, such as Phantasy Star Online 2, which make this possible. I can only imagine what CCP will do to remain competitive. |

It's like some weird drug scene.
Truth is though, I should be able to spin up a four foot, stubby finger little person in EVE. Can't be that hard. It's not like anyone uses the CQ. EVE shall be purged by fire - please Gods let them ALL burn in Jita. |
