I'm an old player... reactivated my account after nearly 2 years. I enjoy the new eye-candy (Bloom effect is a bit blinding and bogs down my game, though) - but these Jaggies make this look like something from the original PlayStation. D: You can bump map and add dynamic shadows to your ships all you want, but with Jaggies big enough to pose a threat to a thanksgiving Turkey - totally ruins (for me) what the new graphics engine is capable of.
Just the fact that the old client could do it, yanno?
Anyways, ranting over.
I am running the game at 1680x1050, with every option maxed (except AA, of course...)
My Rig:
HP BLACKBIRD 002 LC
- Intel« Core2Ö Extreme Quad-Core 3.2GHz QX9770 performance enhanced - 8GB 1600 MHz CORSAIR PC-12800 DDR3 SDRAM (4x2GB) - CPU Liquid cooling - EVGA nForceÖ 790i Ultra - Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX-280, with 1GB of GDDR3 SDRAM (AC) - Creative Audio Sound Blaster« X-FiÖ XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional - RAID (1) Data Reliability - 2 x 160GB 10000 rpm SATA - 1.1KW Power Supply - RAID (1) Data Reliability û 2 x 300GB 10,000 rpm SATA - Super multi-drive, slim slots with Lightscribe (DVD+/-R/RW+/-DL) - Microsoft« Windows VistaÖ Ultimate (64 Bit)
What I have tried:
In the game itself, I have tried deactivating HDR... still no options for AA appear, and AA doesn't seem to work when running under this HDRless mode while being forced by a third party program.
As I stated above, I have tried my nVidia control panel to force AA; and even that did not work. So I did some searching around the forums and I downloaded 'nHancer' - and it worked, actually; but lagged my game very bad... and every other game I had. I did not like nHancer. (I shouldn't have to use a program like that just to get AA in EVE, when it used to have such a feature).
And then I've even tried adding that "AdvanceDevice=1" in the prefs.ini file. Still no change.
I guess what I am trying to ask is this:
Is there *another* way to run EVE with AA /without/ downloading a third party program, or using a program that not only effects EVE, but all my other games too? :/
And also, my system actually lags very, very badly when HDR is enabled. Why would that be?
Thanks for your time, Suitcase
P.S. Sorry if the tone of my message seems cynical - I really don't mean to sound that way. <3

I've no idea how to enable AA on premium, but do you really get that many hard edges that are super noticable at 1680x1050 (I've assumed you're running it on a 22" monitor). However, with the HDR lag, perhaps you need to clear and reinstall your drivers. I get no fps based lag running everything on high at 1920 x 1200 with a single 280GTX. Perhaps try disabling SLi and using a single card? Meanwhile, on the other side of town . . . |

AA works fine without HDR using nVidia's control panel.
With HDR, no, you need nHancer to create a custom profile and write it to the registry for the GPU to calculate the AA and Bloom.
Personally, I run EVE without any shadows, full bloom, AA and 1920x1200 running an nVidia 9800GTX with zero lag. (running the current driver 180.48)
I posted a profile at the nHancer forums yonks ago Linkage. There you will see the before and after shots, with the frames per second in the top left-hand corner (310 and 163), and back then that was at 1440x900.
So, with your system (nice btw) running at 1680x1050, you should be hitting the 200 frames per second mark.

Once you have AA you can never go back. I still don't know why it isn't a standard option in the EVE settings.

Last time I tested AA on nVidia cards it would only work in fullscreen and not in windowed mode.

Forced AA will work in windowed mode. I was using nHancer, though.

Well this is strange... whenever I turn on HDR and Bloon, AA gets turned on... but when I turn HDR off, AA gets turned off. And when I use HDR, my game lags and hiccups... which should not happen on my system. D: |

Then there is something something wrong with your system. Whether the error is occurring between keyboard and PC, or between GPU and OS, I don't know.
