I'm having issues with Vista Ultimate 64bit on my brothers computer. (also have it on my own PC, but never encountered a problem since using it)
Say for example, dragging a file into the notepad that can read, but only to return with a pop up saying "permission denied"
Another problem, say he's accessing a video file from my external HD over LAN network to play on his Media Player Classic. As soon as you get your cursor with a dragged video on MPC, the cursor turns into erroneous cursor (circle with slass across it), and does nothing when you let go on MPC.
Help please? -----------------------------------

Do these problems go away when you load the files via the program instead of dragging them to the program's shortcut?
I have to admit, I've not dragged a file to an executable in years, haven't had a need to.

Check he's running as admin with UAC off.
Also, can he copy the file from the networked drive and paste it? if not the file might not be shared (Though in this case i'm not sure he would even see it) ______________________________________________
Yes, i finally got a real sig.

Pretty sure he's running as admin. Tell me more about the UAC thing.. As for the network itself, its shared. If it isn't, I wouldn't mention the 2nd part of the problem, instead would only ask for networking help to share files (which I don't neet at all since its all working fine :P) -----------------------------------

Basically if he's not getting annoying ass popups that ask him if he's sure he wants to use this that and the next thing whenver he double clicks anything UAC is off.
But to be sure, go to Control Panel - Windows Security Center - Other Settings. Should be Internet Sec an underneath itd User Account Control. It will tell you if its on/off. ______________________________________________
