Heh. I was considering something like this on an Arazu for roaming gangs. I just can't seem to think damps are worth it anymore.

Judging from what I've read around and in this thread... are there any real advantages to using a Lachesis/Arazu over, say... a Curse/Pilgrim, or Rapier/Huginn? They seem to be much better solo and gang ships in nearly every situation, but I do hope I'm wrong. ===== * Your signature file is broken. Please use an image that will display - Fallout

As far as i am concerned the only reason one would ever fly a lach/arazu over a falcon would be because they have a terrible fear of training caldari cruiser to 5.

Obviously a faction web would be nice but the basic idea is to fast lock the target, scram, hold until the deimos and brutix and falcon you're with can lock and butt-**** the target.
IMHO if you're going the RSD route you may as well use a celestis. The only nice thing about the lachesis is its scram range in QR. RSD's will get you killed - use an arazu or celestis for that.
Lach doesn't get a ROF bonus to HAMs, only Heavy Missile Launchers. You'll do more DPS with bonused HMLs than you will with unbonused HAMs.

Sadly... you're not wrong. That's mostly due to the weak state of damps at the moment.
Sure, a Lach/Arazu can tackle, and the new MWD-killing scramble with 18km range can be nice. Still, HICs can tackle at huge ranges too and they can also tank like mofos. Lach/Arazu goes boom the moment someone looks at it sideways.
They are not useless ships. With proper fittings and good skills, they can still be useful to a gang. Sadly though, there are often much better choices to fly.

Hehe I'm not the only one playing around with TDs on my setups.
For those of you who fitted no tank in this thread, drones will kill you. Lach have absolutely terrible structure/armor/shield to start with. You must tank it somehow or warrior II's will make you run for it.
Bellums setup looks nice I would probably fit mine very similar. You must be cap stable, cap booster is best for this, you want at least 3 damps, if you don't expect to fight at gates you could drop web for another damp. Also MWD for a roaming lach is a must. And you must have some tank.
But paying that much isk for something thats still not working very good I personally wouldn't do. One ship to rule them all, one ship to find them, one ship to jam them all, and in the darkness bind them.

Hi!
Looking at the setups, I've come up with something like this... Cap Stable, and good for some same class solo (maybe, haven't tested it yet):
[Lachesis, PVP] Damage Control II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Scrambler II Stasis Webifier II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II
Improved Cloaking Device II Corpum A-Type Medium Nosferatu Heavy Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Ancillary Current Router I Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Valkyrie II x3 Warrior II x2
Any opinion or feedback is OK. |
