Petitions are slower then a dead dog. This way is quicker to get a reply... as you have just proved.

Edited by: Neth''Rae on 05/12/2008 14:02:17 Bah, ccp just make a AI Bot that searchs the official in-game channels and finds ISK selling spam and autoreports it to a GM that can check if it's really ISK selling spam.. Or implement a rightclick /report spam.

Petition to a gm, ask them to have an eye on it. Some gms love to banhammer things, especially juicy things like the isksellers. In the german help channels, there are often one or two gms doing combo-bannings. ----------------------------------------------

"File a petition"
I could not dream of keeping up with the sheer volume of petitions that I would need to file. I would imagine that a CCP employee could sit there right clicking and ban, or whatever, for just a few hours a day to have a significant impact on future abuse.
Rookie chat is a disgrace, the first impression new players get and you, CCP, seem to be happy for them to be met by ISK sellers and morons in large amounts... Remarkable.

Surely it'd be best to go the extra step for a channel that greets the new players and lacks the older players who would know to file petitions. Leaving it to people creating chars on new accounts and rookies seems a bad idea.
Didn't ISD used to look after this?

ISD - STAR is still in place. Or at least, I recently saw blue text in rookie help.

The last time I saw an ISD-STAR, his words in local were:
"Heeey... who wants to see a Polaris frigate?" while there were 3 people in local asking him serious and quite interesting questions.
Can't say I am really impressed by them.
Furthermore... ISD-STAR has no powers. They do not have any powers to ban, warn or do anything else... they can only report and escalate... --------

This is why the ISK problem will never be solved. They put a no selling ISK line in the EULA just to cover their own hind ends so they can take action when they are threatened in some manner. CCP honestly does not care, then again why should they? The ISK farmers, after all, do make CCP cash in the long run and after all that is all they seem to care about.

Uhm I have repeatedly seen ISD GSilver and Aroogha ( somehow sounds like John Boys claxon in the "Waltons") swing the ban hammer on isk sellers and peeps that got out of line.
Or was that just a hopefull dream?

I would love it.

Me as well, and when they are on isk spammers go away. (Well, at least as long as it takes them to log with another account.) Just wish there were more on at various times. On the regular help channel as well. If I could rename the tabs, those channels would be called "Chaos Junkie I & II" :) .............

I remember being in that channel; I would right click those I didn't want to hear and mute them..
Come to think of it, there was a few weeks before I went to another corp that I wouldn't hear anyone for days.
Just the occassional peep from a real newbie (who subsequently muted)...
Hrm... Apparently no one had anything good to say.

I disagree. We are vehemently opposed to ISK selling, however, we can't be everywhere in New Eden at once, despite how much we'd love to be and our reported godly nature. Players who submit petitions really do both the GM team and players a huge service. There's more to a petition than what you just input into some fields, and by choosing Rules & Policies > ISK Spammers you (a general "you") can really help us win the war against these leeches.
I hope those of you who feel it's not worth the time reconsider your position. Nothing in New Eden is perfect, but with your help we all can make it a better place to fly in for everybody :)

Here's what i think CCP should do.
As we know that ISK spammers use trial accounts, there should be a seperate newb help channel for those on trials, heavely moderated by CCP. Once the account goes to paid, they can chat in the normal Rookie channel. Any ISK spamming results in an account ban, therefore the ISK sellers lose money.
Everyone should have access to the rookie help channel, but only paid accounts can talk.
Real rookies get help, ISK selling s****get banned.

At first I thought, not a bad idea, but then I realized that the majority of new accounts probably start out with trial accounts, as does the buddy program. So sadly, your idea wouldn't really work.

The community has gone to **** though.
I watched a newbie berated becuase he asked a question in the NPC corp channel. He couldn't get a word in the help channel.
I made a comment about the channel being used for talking epeen crap and it went silent for 15 minutes lol
Don't the newbie training corps have public channels to help out. That they get help and a high level of moderation? /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

A while back when Rookie Chat still opened automagically for me, I decided to do something about the isk spammers. I did file petitions for every one that did appear. The petitions were answered quickly for a few days or so, but sadly the spammers create characters faster than they can be get rid off. Feels quite futile really. And i got the feeling in the end that the GM's were kinda getting annoyed for me spamming petitions. :)
